Emeka Egbuka, SirVocea Dennis Added To Long Bucs Injury List
September 17th, 2025
Banged up rookie.
Well, whattya know, Bucs inside linebacker SirVocea Dennis appears on today’s injury report ahead of the Bucs’ home opener against the Jets on Sunday.
Man, the medical bills are piling up on Team Glazer’s desk. Joe sure hopes ownership gets one free MRI with every 10 purchases.
The first official injury report of the week was released this afternoon and it’s downright gory.
There are nine starters on the list (nine!). Only one of the nine was full-go in practice today: Baker Mayfield (foot/toe).
Out of practice was rookie receiver Emeka Egbuka (hip/groin) and Cody Mauch (knee), along with Luke Goedeke (foot) and Calijah Kancey (pectoral). The latter two will not play Sunday.
Limited in practice were Dennis (ankle), Chris Godwin (ankle), Haason Reddick (shoulder) and Tristan Wirfs (knee).
Joe can’t remember the last time a Bucs team had this many starters banged up before Week 3 kicked off.
September 17th, 2025 at 4:35 pm
Do we question the medical team at some point? I get it’s football but c’mon this is getting out of hand
September 17th, 2025 at 4:36 pm
That list contains 9 names, and they’re all starters. Some quick math tells me that… well, that’s nearly half of the team starters are on that list. Wow.
I’m really hoping that Wirfs is ahead of schedule, what a huge boost that would be.
As for Dennis, the fact he was limited and not out is a good sign.
But what about e2 being out? Is that just being cautious I hope?
September 17th, 2025 at 4:39 pm
It’s not the medical team, it’s the CBA treating training camp like a country club. Nobody’s in football shape.
September 17th, 2025 at 4:44 pm
This is all due to them not hitting as in the past as well as not playing in the preseason. The on field product is suffering. Owners wanna add more games to the season how about expanding the rosters as well.
September 17th, 2025 at 4:48 pm
Sounds like we just picked up a DL out of Arizona?
September 17th, 2025 at 4:51 pm
Oh Well.
September 17th, 2025 at 4:52 pm
Sum Ting Wong Here.
September 17th, 2025 at 4:54 pm
Maybe? Too much equiptment protection? Dunno. Helmets pads braces etc.
September 17th, 2025 at 4:59 pm
Bet the Jets this week, pretty much the core of the team is hurt. Hell, put in Teddy and let Mayfield recuperate. There’s no reason to destroy the only hope of the team getting to the playoffs in what’s most likely a loss or at the least a win with the potential for adding serious injuries trying to plug holesnthatbcant be plugged. Im only semi serious…I want to compete for the win…but at what cost with a half the starters injured? Just asking to hurt them worse or hurt the remaining guys while they try to do other players jobs.
September 17th, 2025 at 5:06 pm
We have injured players continuing to play…Mauch & Egbuka Monday & Goedeke was clearly not ready to play.
Doesn’t look like resting starters in the “worthless” preseason didn’t work well…
September 17th, 2025 at 5:06 pm
Well, if you’re going to be all beat up missing a bunch of starters, one of the five teams you want to play is probably the Jets.
Sucks that with all the tweaking the Bucs have to do to make things work, they get a shorter practice week.
September 17th, 2025 at 5:07 pm
I saw lots of low hits at the legs during the game. The kind the Saints specialized in during Bountygate days. Im not surprised we have a long injury report.
This kind of stuff has no place in the game at any level.
September 17th, 2025 at 5:11 pm
One silver lining of hard hits in the Texas game was Bucky knocking the wind (and likely breaking a rib) on pitre. He was talking a lot of BS to Bucky – that stopped after he was hit and taken out of the game until the second half.
September 17th, 2025 at 5:15 pm
And now the whole team is injured.
September 17th, 2025 at 5:17 pm
“willsays” on point with roster increase. Should have been done years ago.
September 17th, 2025 at 5:18 pm
Going to defend the club regarding conditioning, etc. The Bucs have been doing well as far as injuries and AGL (Adjusted Games Lost) over the last 10 years compared to other teams, with the exception of 2018 (That season was brutal!). Injuries happen, unfortunately. The real season just started, so the starters are still acclimating.
September 17th, 2025 at 5:21 pm
Double E was getting wrap on the sideline, probably a groin.
Just watched the Jet’s game against the bills.Bucky and R dub will be key.
September 17th, 2025 at 5:24 pm
BAD MATH
JMac makes it 10 starters.
5 of 5 starting OL are out or out of position.
September 17th, 2025 at 5:32 pm
The smart money is on the Jets this week.
Hopefully, Bucs win. But it would honestly be shocking considering all the factors not just the injuries
September 17th, 2025 at 5:38 pm
This team will be very tough mentally by the end of the year. What’s left of it, lol. Better now than later, I guess.
September 17th, 2025 at 5:47 pm
We got this….just win this one more, then rest against philly, yeah i said it, dont care….its a long season of war, battles lost here and there will happen….
September 17th, 2025 at 5:51 pm
Week 3 2024 :
CB Jamel Dean (knee) – LP (Wed.)
DL William Gholston (knee) – DNP (Wed.)
T Luke Goedeke (concussion) – DNP (Wed.)
DL Logan Hall (foot) – LP (Wed.)
DB Josh Hayes (ankle) – DNP (Wed.)
DL Calijah Kancey (calf) – DNP (Wed.)
WR Kameron Johnson (ankle) – LP (Wed.)
NT Vita Vea (knee) – DNP (Wed.)
RB Rachaad White (groin) – LP (Wed.)
S Antoine Winfield Jr. (foot) – DNP (Wed.)
Injuries are a part of football and how the GM prepares for and makes roster adjustments for those injuries often determines your success. If Jason Licht truly belongs in the Buccaneers Ring of Honor this should not be a problem.
September 17th, 2025 at 5:51 pm
This is what happens, with little padded practice and not playing in preseason looks like
September 17th, 2025 at 5:55 pm
I’ve said this for the past few years, and no one seems to want to listen. At a certain point, this falls on the coaching staff, strength and conditioning team, medical personnel, and training staff. It’s clear that something is off—whether it’s nutrition or another aspect of player care. Yes, football comes with injuries, but the Buccaneers consistently deal with more than most teams, year after year. Not every player is injury-prone, so there’s clearly something going on with the team’s approach to health, nutrition, or overall physical management.
In fact, during the 2024–25 season, the Buccaneers led the entire NFL in injury-related financial losses, with approximately $33.4 million paid to players who couldn’t play due to injuries. That’s nearly 30% more than the next highest team. On top of that, 18 starters missed a combined 62 games last season — an alarming number that raises real concerns about how the team is managing player health, nutrition, recovery, and overall physical preparation.
September 17th, 2025 at 6:02 pm
I wonder if having at least 1 trainer per player would be helpful and worth the investment?
Have them learn only the person they’re assigned to and focus on their body 100% of the time. When someone gets cut/traded, then they move to the replacement.
September 17th, 2025 at 6:06 pm
Baker Mayfield full participant. Guy is steel – that’s my QB!
September 17th, 2025 at 6:07 pm
We have seen how being cautious in preseason hasnt really paid off SO maybe next preseason go back to playing like they used to. Thankfully quite a bit of tbe league is hurt as well.
September 17th, 2025 at 6:13 pm
Houston’s D was playing fast & violent. They were putting some massive hits on our guys.
September 17th, 2025 at 6:19 pm
@WiscoJoe
“Do we question the medical team at some point?”
You’ve answered your own question! “I get it’s football”
Actually that’s not the real answer. Real answer it’s PROFESSIONAL football.
These guys all earn millions and millions of dollars. How much do you think the owner get each year. The average is over 450 MILLION $$. It’s BIG BUSINESS.
The players are INVESTMENTS not simply players! I feel certain EVERY team has TOP NOTCH Docs and trainers. It’s a great gig. The teams obviously know their value.
As I’ve stated I’m a former Bengals fan with Cousins who stilll live there and have season tickets. Do you suppose they are whining about their staff with Joe Burrow out…AGAIN!!! Ironically Mike Brown is notoriously cheap. If anybody wanted to suggest it’s a teams trainers because of money…perhaps? NAH it’s just stupid to not realize these guys are an EXPENSE and an INVESTMENT. Why would they invest Millions and millions of dollars and not protect that investment.
Injuries are a result MOSTLY due to bad LUCK.
If someone wishes to do a D.R. type dive into the stats and show me ENOUGH numbers over a long enough period of certain teams having worse injury or rehab records than others I retain an open mind. BUT I NEED PROOF not simple speculation that tarnishes somebody’s professional rep with no merit.
September 17th, 2025 at 6:22 pm
We ve played 2 games on concrete..be thankful its not worse
September 17th, 2025 at 6:23 pm
Bruce Arians hammering the point home post SB victory about how fortunate we were to remain relatively healthy in that run rings in the back of my mind, because it’s true. Still early, but rarely do players get healthier the further we go into the season.
This is part of the worth of the preseason, you build a 53-man and practice squad because you know guys are going to get hurt. The who, when and how are always a mystery tho.
Blaming coaches and the training staff for players getting hurt is childish, no other way to put it.
September 17th, 2025 at 6:25 pm
Naa, the Bucs medical team are great. Natural healing and meditation. Then when that doesn’t work after 6 weeks, season ending surgery. They’re brilliant.
September 17th, 2025 at 6:35 pm
WBLynch
Read and enjoy your posts and you’re spot on here.
I did a lazy SPBF dive into some stats but I’m nowhere near the researcher as D.R.
I simply googled the injury list for all 32 teams. It’s gots it’s flaws because I’m not digging the severity of injuries out and Burrow and guys get placed on long terms lists not reflected in the weekly reports.
The Bucs are middle of the pack this season for bad luck. The number seems to be 8-9 guys on the reports. Atlanta also has 9 the Bucs next opponent NYJ have 11 guys on the list including their starting QB and the Pack a major NFC power goes into Sunday with 8 including Jordan Love who will play banged up.
IE We can whine all we want but it’s NOBODY’s fault. I realize how unsatisfying this on on a sports blog where half the guys love to find a reason to deride the Bucs down to their freaking training staff!
If you saw the press conferences today Baker said he felt absolutely fine. When the reporter asked him incredulously but what about those big hits…he said AGAIN simply I’m fine.
The straw that stirs the drink is fine! Cheer up grasshoppers!
September 17th, 2025 at 6:38 pm
RVA Tom WTF are you talking about? sit players that able to play really? why don’t we just forfit tell NFL WE ARE TO BANGED UP TO PLAY! MAN I AM SURE GLAD THE TEAM DOES NOT HAVE YOUR MENTALLITY!
September 17th, 2025 at 6:47 pm
@RVATom,
Why don’t we just play all 3rd stringers the rest of the way? SMH.
September 17th, 2025 at 6:50 pm
The hits keep coming.
Cody Mauch too injured knee they said.
Bucs can’t catch a break right now.
Older FA vets are ready to go.
These young guys just can’t hang it seems.
Need to find guys who are ready to go and build around them.
September 17th, 2025 at 6:51 pm
My father trained and drove harness horses. He was very good at it. If a horse’s bloodline shows knee problems, you address it before, during, and after the race. Good trainers do that.
September 17th, 2025 at 6:55 pm
September 17th, 2025 at 6:58 pm
More mass, more muscle, less fat (padding), faster/stronger players….. same joint, bone, ligament/tendon structure. This ain’t hard to figure out why
September 17th, 2025 at 7:04 pm
Here is the medical/training staff per the Buccaneers site.
Bobby Slater Vice President of Sports Medicine and Performance
John Ames Senior Athletic Trainer
Scott DeGraff Senior Athletic Trainer
Samantha Richter Associate Athletic Trainer

Dr. Fred Brennan Primary Care

Dr. Brian Domby Orthopedics
Maral Javadifar: Director of Rehabilitation & Performance Coach
Go Bucs!
September 17th, 2025 at 7:08 pm
SVD, Kancey and Dean are not reliable. At the end of the year, they need to be traded or shown the door.
September 17th, 2025 at 7:08 pm
Home field advantage includes 90+ degrees f at kickoff
September 17th, 2025 at 7:21 pm
Damned if you do damned if you don’t. If Bowles had played his starters in preseason and one of them got hurt, the same keyboard coaches on here would blame Bowles. Injuries happened, no one plans for them.
September 17th, 2025 at 7:25 pm
Not only do we have expert HCs, DCs, and GMs posting in the comments but also experts at sports medicine 👍🏼
And a few of the bring back leather helmets crowd 😜
September 17th, 2025 at 7:26 pm
it’s a real problem in modern football… muscles get strong, but ligaments can’t keep up. How many injuries do we see where a guy just makes a cut then starts limping, zero contact.
And burst and raw strength is emphasized in training rather than tone and stability.
We’re getting to the point where a whole starting lineup could be out at some point… it’s like the B-17 pilots in World War 2.
September 17th, 2025 at 7:26 pm
time to activate Tez Johnson, Shepherd, Ryan Miller and use White as a wideout, Otton
September 17th, 2025 at 7:29 pm
Run the ball. Ground and pound. Bucky, tucker and white each get 10+ totes
September 17th, 2025 at 7:37 pm
Next time I fall out of a tree, or someone steps on my foot, or I trip on a curb and hurt my ankle I’m gonna blame my trainer for not teaching me to climb better, my doctor for giving me the ok to walk and my boss for not hiring someone to teach me to avoid curbs.
Some of you make my head spin.
You don’t live in a world where injuries just happen, like in the NFL where they’re ubiquitous. You live in a world where everything that happens to you is somebody else’s fault!
September 17th, 2025 at 7:39 pm
And apparently we also have ignorant but arrogant humorless lizards , unfortunately proving that they are not yet extinct.
September 17th, 2025 at 7:39 pm
Rachaad and Bucky are both good to go. Ride them both !
Hopefully Grizz is going to continue running RW along with Buck.
Chaad has been criminally mis-used (un-used really) since the last part of last year.
Most worried about EE @ the moment.
Need to get the tight ends involved this week too.
September 17th, 2025 at 7:45 pm
I was the same thing as@ Daily rich
September 17th, 2025 at 7:50 pm
Just relax you chicken Littles. Its the Jets and these guys will be good to go for Sunday. SVD sucks. EE played 30 snaps after getting hurt, its not bad. Mauch is a concern, but Klein can handle it
September 17th, 2025 at 7:52 pm
Well they have a local hospital as a major naming sponsor
September 17th, 2025 at 7:53 pm
” Only one of the nine was full-go in practice today: Baker Mayfield (foot/toe).”
To the tune of the old Disney Show –
Thats so Baker
tomorrow morning he’ll probably tell Emily – “use more superglue because the toe nearly came off again”
September 17th, 2025 at 7:59 pm
@Confido75 – last year we had the 2nd or 3rd MOST games missed due to injury… FYI.
September 17th, 2025 at 8:07 pm
See my grandson can not be a jizzzackass sometimes
September 17th, 2025 at 8:08 pm
no concussion for johnson on helmet to helmet hit is surprising. baker forgetting he was hurt was hysterical. never jaw at baker when he’s hurt lmao
September 17th, 2025 at 8:20 pm
K Johnson took a big hit and didnt get on the list. He is fighting for his career for sure. Hopefully the Johnson’s can step up for the game this week if Egbuka is hamstrung
September 17th, 2025 at 8:22 pm
Some of the comments are straight comedy. How in the heck are you going to blame the medical staff when dudes are out there getting lit up and rolled on and expect everyone to stay healthy. This isn’t madden were you can turn injuries off lol
September 17th, 2025 at 8:31 pm
#1bucs
Exactly!

#1bucsfan
Hey man, that’s not funny. Some of these guys are full on believers of what they spew! It’s not nice to make fun of them.
September 17th, 2025 at 8:35 pm
We aren’t the most injured team but man we are nearly there.
September 17th, 2025 at 8:36 pm
Good news is that Wirfs and Godwin are practicing
September 17th, 2025 at 8:38 pm
@WiscoJoe
I’ve been saying that for awhile now. They should seriously look into all of them. The strength & conditioning, etc.
September 17th, 2025 at 9:04 pm
Well researched Josh and I agree with you even before you tossed out those stats. Being raised to be savvy businessman by their dad, the Glazer boys should look into all the money they are throwing away,
September 17th, 2025 at 9:08 pm
Injuries are up across the board, and it’s because of the players union, they’re the one demanding less and less practices which are keeping guys from getting into football shape. Also keep in mind the more guys that get injured, the more guys who need to fill their roster spots, and the more dues the union collects (yes, if someone is hurt they still pay their cut to the union, and the new guy who is signed also is required to hand over money to the union).
Before you dismiss the idea that the union wants guys hurt, keep in mind that unions in the modern world exist solely to enrich the people who run the union – and with that money, as we’ve seen already, the union management can go and dump hundreds of thousands of dollars at strip clubs (although if you want to make a case for unions, you could claim that those poor women would lose massive amounts of income if the union wasn’t around to scam players out of their money).
September 17th, 2025 at 9:15 pm
[Joe doesn’t want to start a flamewar, sorry. Over $3.00 for gas? Where did you go? Sam’s Club on Monday had gas at $2.71. — Joe]
September 17th, 2025 at 9:20 pm
Cody Mauch to have season-ending knee surgery
September 17th, 2025 at 9:21 pm
Mauch done for the season?!?
September 17th, 2025 at 9:23 pm
yup. just read report on mauch. crusher.
September 17th, 2025 at 9:25 pm
We literally deal with the most injuries every year. Get well Cody
September 17th, 2025 at 9:26 pm
Yeah, Schefty is reporting it.
September 17th, 2025 at 9:27 pm
Im concerned about the guy not on this list – Baker Mayfield
September 17th, 2025 at 9:33 pm
It’s like this every year and it’s so frustrating. This organization either blames the heat or Lady Luck but never the training staff!!! Show me one other competitive team that has this many injuries. I’m surprised Mike Evans isn’t on here this week.
September 17th, 2025 at 9:43 pm
Irving and White are healthy but ……. Don’t forget about Tucker he’s ready to pound that rock as well !!
Go Bucs !!!
September 17th, 2025 at 9:51 pm
Cody is out for the season wow that’s brutal
September 17th, 2025 at 10:08 pm
Rod
You’re talking about a union of millionaires..not your typical union by and large..
