Bucs Win Second Straight Without Forcing A Turnover

September 15th, 2025

After hearing over and over this offseason how critical turnovers are to the Bucs being successful, Joe is ecstatic — and impressed — Tampa Bay is now 2-0 without forcing a turnover.

You like that, Todd Bowles?

Joe’s having a little fun with the head coach/defensive coordinator. But Joe is always more in favor of playing good fundamental football and setting up playmakers than relying/hoping/banking on turnovers.

It helps when you’re quarterback hasn’t thrown a pick and Rachaad White is there for a tough-guy fumble recovery of Baker Mayfield’s jelly fingers in the fourth quarter.

The Bucs overcame a terrible special teams night, major in-game injuries to Luke Goedeke and Calijah Kancey, Baker Mayfield and Emeka Egbuka getting banged up, and a loud crowd in the Texans’ first home Monday night game since 2018.

These Bucs have so much work to do, but here they are 2-0, with two “Ws” on the road.

Dangerous team. Even if they can’t force a turnover.

  2. ReeeBarrr Says:

    …and it’s just getting started.

    GO BUCS!!

  3. TB_MikeB Says:

Are we not counting the goal line stand turnover on downs?

  4. BUCC941 Says:

They kinda sorta did. Lavante just dropped it.

  5. David Says:

The old line and receiving core are going to get healthy… The interceptions I think will start coming. But the 4 man pass is starting to become a concern.

Either way, it’s a long season, and they’ve got it out two wins. Spend the week getting healthy, the jets should be an easy win before they have to face the Eagles.

  6. BucsFan81 Says:

We are winning ugly but we are winning without a lot of main starters who are hurt. If this team ever gets fully healthy look out

  7. adam from ny Says:

  8. Pigsueybucsfan Says:

  9. Coconut Doughnut Says:

Maybe Sean can offer a free oil change for all Bucs fans if we get 3+ Turnovers

  10. Pigsueybucsfan Says:

    Biter

  11. Miller5252 Says:

How about Bucky tonight. He got hammered on all night and kept coming back for more! Him and Baker had some hard fought yards and battles!

  12. Healz on deck Says:

What a nail Biter, the defense played with Heart but wasnt flashy. Man Baker is the Man! That Oline needs some help, Charlie Heck was getting blown by and manhandled.

  13. JA Says:

I’ll never understand some head coaches. Houston owned our offense in the second half. We get the ball with two minutes left and what do they do?
They go prevent defense and lose.
And coaches do it over, over and over again.
    It makes zero sense!

  14. SMH Says:

If David would have used some stick’em we’d have our first pick of the year.

  15. SlyPirate Says:

    Really Good Defense
Good enough Offense considering the O line.
    Special Teams SUCKED!!!!!!!!

    Chase is done.

  16. It’s Exciting!!!! Says:

You got to love the team’s heart.

    Go Bucs!!!

  17. geno711 Says:

Not the day to complain about the defense.
They allowed 12 first downs. That is pretty elite.

Other than Dennis who played poorly on the defense?

  18. LANshark Says:

    Winning ugly is still winning.

  19. Oxycondomns Says:

maybe recenty bias but that was one of best bucs game winning drives ive seen

  20. Addb Says:

2-0 on the road with a division win. I’ll take it

  21. adam from ny Says:

    we pounded that rock tonight…

the d was better than advertised…

and chase still needs a lobotomy – or a phone call from gramatica 🙂

  22. Jeff Says:

    PFF was right about Kancey.

  23. geno711 Says:

    JA –

I did not see Houston going prevent defense — their defense was just gassed like a lot of defenses at the end of the game. Seems like many times if the defense does not get to you in the first 4 or 5 snaps of that last drive – they just don’t have enough energy to compete. That’s what it looked like to me anyway.

  24. geno711 Says:

Jeff didn’t you say stroud for another 4 or 5 TDs before the game. Oops.

  25. Irishmist Says:

Grammatica’s son is playing college ball now. Does the transfer portal extend to the NFL?

  26. Tampa Bay Tailagaters Says:

Hurry up likely all Baker and we move the ball and score, Grizz better take note!

  27. ReeeBarrr Says:

Hat tip to Grizz and the offense.

They took advantage of what was working and kept using Bucky and White, running and passing. We trudged through this one fellas. Good disciplined work.

  28. JA Says:

    Geno

I saw prevent, a constant nickel, safety’s playing deeper and only rushing four. And yes, they were gassed thanks to the hurry up.
But what do I know? I’m kinda guessing as I didn’t watch their coverages on every play.

  29. Hodad Says:

Getting Wirfs, and Godwin back for the Jets would be nice.

  30. Mveal2006 Says:

That looked like a Tony dungy defense tonight.

    Good work, guys

  31. Jmarkbuc Says:

This game wouldn’t have been close if the offense had capitalized on the defense’s effort in the third quarter …

And if our punter was aware a rush was in his lap.

  32. Ha-Ha-Ha Says:

Houston had a chance, but they went for it at the goal one instead of kicking the field goal. I said that was a losing strategy.

  33. Kidfloflo Says:

I’ve aged 10 yrs in the last 2 victories!!! Haaha, but I’ll take it…Baker is gonna need an artic ice bath after this one!! Dudes a stud and if u don’t recognize it and still pine for Trask, go root for the Dolphins, their more ur speed

  34. Buctoothbucky Says:

Where is all the “I think we should trade R. WHITE” fans now?

  35. Albel Says:

Josh Grizzard’s offensive play calling was horrible. He’d better get better.

  36. Key doc Says:

Lavonte David left one on the table tonight
