Emeka Egbuka Approves New Nickname
September 12th, 2025Joe gets that things sound better than usual when Laura Rutledge says them.
However, the nickname “peek-a-boo-ka” for stud Bucs rookie Emeka Egbuka is ridiculous, even if Egbuka told Rutledge on NFL Live today that it is “a solid nickname.”
Egbuka was a guest on the BSPN show and was advised that peek-a-boo-ka is what washed out rambler Chris Berman has been calling him.
Well-spoken Egbuka handled the interview very well and Joe was almost surprised Egbuka agreed to it. Sometimes, a humble rookie like Egbuka will pass on the spotlight early in his career.
The Buccaneers’ first-round pick talked to Rutledge about how he learns more from Mike Evans and Chris Godwin by watching and observing their routines than asking questions. He also said Baker Mayfield is the “definition of energy” and the quarterback has become “a steady force” for him on a daily basis.
If Egbuka keeps scoring touchdowns and keeps the national fantasy football crowd glued to him, he’ll quickly become a face of the Bucs’ franchise.
September 12th, 2025 at 5:46 pm
We haven’t even seen peak Egbuka yet.
September 12th, 2025 at 5:48 pm
I’d prefer Mek-a Tron personally
September 12th, 2025 at 5:50 pm
Disappointed Joe. No picture of Rutledge?
September 12th, 2025 at 5:51 pm
The only saying I hope sticks is:
“Baka’ to Buca’ … SCORE!!!”
September 12th, 2025 at 5:52 pm
I like Eazy E better
September 12th, 2025 at 5:56 pm
“Washed out rambler Chris Berman”? I don’t know Joe, Chris has been entertaining football fans for decades, and deserves more respect, regardless of whether he is past his prime.
September 12th, 2025 at 6:04 pm
I’ve always liked Chris Berman, and for him to say that name, I’m OK with it. However for everyone else, it’s awful.
I’ll stick to Double E, or e2.
September 12th, 2025 at 6:11 pm
I named one of my FF teams that I have him on “Egbuka the Trutha”
September 12th, 2025 at 6:15 pm
Berman is definitely old and tired, dude hasn’t been remotely entertaining in at least 15 years.
September 12th, 2025 at 6:20 pm
Eeeka
September 12th, 2025 at 6:20 pm
I like E squared or E²
September 12th, 2025 at 6:21 pm
His name/nickname is Mek.
September 12th, 2025 at 6:22 pm
His name isn’t pronounced Em eee ka…..so the nickname doesn’t rhyme
September 12th, 2025 at 6:27 pm
that’s a horrible nickname they have come up… please think of a better one for us Joe
September 12th, 2025 at 6:36 pm
E2 sounds good
September 12th, 2025 at 6:39 pm
She’s a pretty good looking middle aged woman and that’s probably why he agreed to that ridiculous nickname. I know, it’s a play on Pikachu but he’ll always be E. Boyuka Boyuka to me.
September 12th, 2025 at 6:44 pm
That is a ridiculous nickname, and no one should ever call him that unless they want him to never be taken seriously.
Mek. Nothing more, nothing less. Just like a Mech/Mecha. He’ll dominate on the field like one, too.
Peek-a-booka, good grief. 🤦♂️
September 12th, 2025 at 6:50 pm
“washed out tambler”… SHAME ON YOU.
No need to be mean, Joe.
September 12th, 2025 at 6:50 pm
E2 squared sounds good. He is a smart dude.
September 12th, 2025 at 7:02 pm
I’m ok with what his teammates have given him…”Mek” but I really like EE or Double E or E squared, any play on his initials that is short and efficient.
September 12th, 2025 at 7:06 pm
He’s not being mean, It’s part of his wonderful brand of sarcasm.
September 12th, 2025 at 7:26 pm
I think I’ll just call him Emeka.
September 12th, 2025 at 7:30 pm
Emeka the wrecka.
September 12th, 2025 at 7:31 pm
Thats awful.
September 12th, 2025 at 7:58 pm
I love Emeka the Wrecka!!!! Rack It!
2nd best is Beka to Buca!
Let’s go Bucs
September 12th, 2025 at 8:03 pm
Chris Berman was highly entertaining back in the day. Very creative. One of the best in the business. That was a long time ago, Meanwhile, Laura Rutledge is not only a pretty face but that lady knows her stuff. Don’t watch her NFL coverage much but when it comes to the SEC she is top notch.
As far as nick names? Couldn’t possibly care less.
September 12th, 2025 at 8:12 pm
Mek is what his coaches and teammates call him.
And I heard somebody call him Mekatron last week and I thought that sounded cool.
September 12th, 2025 at 8:18 pm
Meca-Tron is better.
September 12th, 2025 at 8:18 pm
2ka Bazuka
September 12th, 2025 at 8:33 pm
EE²
September 12th, 2025 at 8:54 pm
he’s no anything Tron. Calvin was a physical beast with no rival. Egbuka, while nice, isn’t the physical type to be a Tron. E² looks cool, I’d prolly say E Deuce instead of squared. definitely look forward to more Baka to Buca calls though. let’s get this dub Monday boys!!
September 12th, 2025 at 8:56 pm
I started him on FF last week. Hoping for a repeat!
September 12th, 2025 at 8:57 pm
One thing I have liked about Mike Evans’ HOF career is the absence of superfluous nonsense like a nickname. Godwin, too. Egbuka might get lucky and avoid one, too.
I do like “Meek” okay, I guess.
September 12th, 2025 at 9:04 pm
I like Buke
September 12th, 2025 at 9:08 pm
Meka Tron I think only works if he was Evans size. Can’t piggy back the monster that was MegaTron.
September 12th, 2025 at 9:25 pm
I call him EE2 just like ME13 and CG14. Easy to remember, and at my age, that’s a plus!
September 12th, 2025 at 9:42 pm
Emeka Egbuka is pretty catchy on its own.
Just need to get the ➡️ Tampa. Bay ⬅️ cheer going with it at RJS
➡️MEKA…BUKA⬅️
September 12th, 2025 at 10:06 pm
Emekatron is about 1,000x better than that crap. Holy hell.
September 12th, 2025 at 10:10 pm
Easy EEs
September 12th, 2025 at 10:12 pm
Im with you,Bucs Fan,show a little respect JOE!
September 12th, 2025 at 10:22 pm
The T-Rexes for our offensive line. All the starters on our line are supposed to have too short of arms to be good NFL players (except Wirfs).
September 12th, 2025 at 10:29 pm
“Double-E” works for Joe. So too does “E-squared.”
Or how about simply “touchdown?”
September 12th, 2025 at 10:29 pm
his name is Mek O-Hio🌰!!! 🏈🏆🌎!!!
September 12th, 2025 at 11:01 pm
Just call him Egbuka. He’s earned it.
September 12th, 2025 at 11:18 pm
His name is dope by itself. AHMECKAH AGBUKAHĤ! Sounds like an Egyptian god of war.
September 12th, 2025 at 11:19 pm
Yes I now that’s not the correct spelling im s_o_u_n_d_i_n_g it out
September 12th, 2025 at 11:22 pm
First catch and the crowd will bellow, “BUUUUUUUUUUUUUK”
September 12th, 2025 at 11:56 pm
Honestly if the crowd just yelled EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! That’ll be pretty cool to hear just like when Pittsburgh yells Muthhhhh when their TE catches passes, few our guys get a similar roar, that first home game is gonna be exciting if we come home 2-0, 1-1 is gonna be very tense, playing the Eagles at 1-2 would be disheartening
September 13th, 2025 at 12:05 am
Mekatron is the nickname that I think will stick.
September 13th, 2025 at 12:46 am
Berman is the Sage of Bristol, he put ESPN on the map and helped limit women’s lacrosse for the NFL. Granted, he’s played out, but respect.
I sure hope you never pen that crap for Gene, or God forbid, Ira. Know your roots man
September 13th, 2025 at 12:47 am
E²
September 13th, 2025 at 1:05 am
WOW that nickname is awful. Here are some bad options that are better than that:
Emekachu
Eggmanbuka
Mekmek
Egbukacabra
September 13th, 2025 at 3:41 am
Nah… Hell Nah!
She is wrong for that one. Let someone here in Tampa give him real football nickname. Geez!
I like Buka.
Go Bucs!
September 13th, 2025 at 3:53 am
I would prefer “Eazy Double-E” myself!
September 13th, 2025 at 4:20 am
Great comments on nicknames!
Peek-a-booka is ridiculous. I am sticking with Buka!
September 13th, 2025 at 4:42 am
Enigma
September 13th, 2025 at 4:53 am
Or enigmatic Egbuka. I like both. 😉
September 13th, 2025 at 6:08 am
When he scored his second touchdown I hollered the same thing I hollered when he scored his first touchdown. I can’t repeat that here but I imagine it would be a crack up if our whole stadium yelled it at the same time. The Network would have to bleep it out and hurry to commercial.
September 13th, 2025 at 7:32 am
Time for Berman to be put out to pasture. What an awful nickname. Hopefully he gets tagged with Double E by the end of the season.
