Bucs: Left-Handed Quarterbacks Are Weird

September 6th, 2025

Says lefty QBs can be tricky.

The Dixie Chicks return the same offensive coordinator. Mostly the same players. And the same head coach.

So Bucs defenders Joe spoke to aren’t uptight about perhaps facing something brand new tomorrow that would so shock them they’d stain their jocks.

However, since the Bucs last faced the Dixie Chicks, Atlanta has a new southpaw quarterback. That sort of weirds out some Bucs defenders that Joe spoke with.

“It’s kind of challenging because it’s a different look,” Bucs corner Jamel Dean said. “So it’s almost like you’ve got to think, like, in a reverse way. You’re so used to dealing right-handed quarterbacks.”

The Bucs believe they know what Atlanta will throw at them because they are so used to playing them. And defenders told Joe they believe Dixie Chicks quarterback Michael Penix being left-handed could burn them; there’s just enough of a difference to make their jobs a little tougher.

“Like a left-handed quarterback is, that’s his normal side,” Dean said. “Like his normal side, he’s comfortable with, but it’s different.”

Dean explained to Joe that it is uncommon to see quarterbacks run left and then throw. That’s because right-handed quarterbacks often run to the right. Penix, however, will run left and throw left more because, yes, he’s left-handed.

Keeping those nuances in mind will be key on Sunday.

“They have a different ball, they have a different spiral,” Bucs inside linebacker SirVocea Dennis said. “It’s a lot different spin, right?”

Dennis said the best way he could describe facing a left-handed quarterback would be like defending a reflection in the mirror.

“It’s going to throw you off a little bit,” Dennis said. “But I mean, once you get into the [flow of the game], you should get the hang of it quick.”

Do the interns writing these pieces understand basic spelling and grammar? Lots of mistakes the past couple years. Hopefully the Bucs aren’t as sloppy tomorrow.

  5. Aqualung Says:

Team Aqualung agrees that the mere fact Jamel stumphands Dean utters this nonsense, proves that the double half coach failing system has the team ready to come out flat and bewildered again.

A real coach wouldn’t let him say this in the first place because he would have him/them prepared. Penix is, after all, left handed.

Not even Ehwah can help the Toddster. Good night, nurse.

  6. Gipper Says:

Dean and his pals would rather face rightie, Kirk Cousins, who torched Bucs for 900 yards an 8TD’s last year? Game hasn’t even started an already excuses.

  7. Scotty Mack Says:

Well, at least they’ll be more prepared for Tua late in the season.

  10. dumboldguy Says:

“With a left handed QB we like to drop different DL into coverage to throw them off. Since we always play 10 yards off the outside recievers we will continue to do that”

    –Todd Bowles, probably.
