He’s half right. Pass protection has been descent – good, not great, overall. The run blocking, not so much.

  2. thedeej3000 Says:

He’s right… We’ve been exposed… the blue print is out. I will be surprised if we win another game all year.

  3. bucfanlostiniowa Says:

3-13 could happen again, if it does what then?

  4. JDouble Says:

I’m not sure what people think is good pass protection. If you compare the protection Freeman has gotten to the protection Tony Romo, Jay Cutler, or Eli Manning has had….I think we’re pretty damn good in that area. I’d say our pass protection has been top 15 in the league. We have no run game and teams have been full out blizting almost every down since the Stealers game, and yet Freeman has had time and stayed upright.

There is no arguing that our run blocking sucks, but that is likely bad coaching, and not the players. Get a better O-line coach and a real RB in there, and then decide what we have. Right now I see a group of guys that are giving a young QB lots of time, but can’t figure out how to move as one unit and open up holes for the runner. I don’t know what the exact problem is, but I blame the coaching.

It’s also important to remember that one weak link makes the whole line look bad. They are only as good as thier worst player. They have to truly work together as one entity to be successful, which makes it pretty hard to see what/who the problem is. Unless you’re an experinced O-line coach that has studied hours of game tape, I don’t think you have a clue as to whats really going on.

It’s not as clear cut as many fans seem to think…much like the D-line, it’s complicated. So try not to be so quick to point the finger at these players.

  5. JDouble Says:

You guys are idiots…I mean seriously! After a win you’re all PLAYOFFS! and after a loss you’re talking 3-13. Are you this bipolar in other aspects of life? Get a grip.

  6. joey88 Says:

I totally agree, respect???? Are you nuts? For what? getting whipped in 2 big HOME games. Last week was a game where I said to myself that this game will dictate if we are CONTENDERS OR PRETENDERS. I think we all know what the answer is. Maybe the ship will right itself against weak opponents. Until they beat a playoff team than they simply dont deserve the respect that is desired which sucks because Im not interested in looking towards next year.

  7. eric Says:

Josh Freeman and Mike Williams deserve respect, and the defensive players who forced the turnovers which produced the wins. Rah deserves some credit for that.

Other than that, not much else. Not yet anyway.

  8. thedeej3000 Says:

A wise man once said… everything I know about football makes me think this team is a fraud. We can’t run, we can’t stop the run, and we can’t take down a quarterback. You don’t win games in the NFL with those deficiencies. Josh Freeman has carried this team about as far as he can. Face it… we’re pretenders.

  9. Fire Greg Olson! Says:

We’re only pretenders to the chicken-little fans that think we’re going to the Super Bowl after starting out 2-0 or the ones that run around screaming that the sky is falling after a loss to 1 of the best 2 teams in the league.

WE’RE REBUILDING JERK OFFS. GAIN SOME PERSPECTIVE…..

  10. eric Says:

“losses” don’t really do justice to the 69-19 combined ass whippings at the stadium the last two games.

Good teams or not, that is pitiful.

  11. thedeej3000 Says:

    27th rushing offense
    31st rushing defense
    32nd sacks

and seem to get worse each week… not better.

Recipe for disaster. This is what I’ve come to expect from Raheem. I gotta be honest, I was surprised by the start… but it appears it was a mirage and we’re close to where we started last year. In fact, Jim Bates defense was a little better, if you can believe that.

  12. Drew Says:

If you took a long look at the schedule at the start of the season… so far the Bucs have won the games most thought possible. I never heard anyone say they were “contenders” before the season… the problems with the Bucs are obvious, lets see if the players and the coaching staff can show progress. I dont understand some so called fans around here. relax!

  13. joey88 Says:

@firegregolson…..you must have a brain like a pea if you think we are contenders. Thanks for reminding everyone we are rebuilding, We would have never guessed that without your wonderful knowledge u nerd

  14. Sensiblebuc Says:

    @ Jdouble

I disagree on the issues on the o-line completely being Mangurian’s fault. As matter of fact, I’d say it’s mostly the players’ fault. Run blocking is inherently about “want to” whereas pass pro is more about coordination (i.e. Coaching). These guys just dont win the one on one matchups necessary to succeed. Sure, Mangurian and Olie deserve blame for perhaps not using the pieces they have properly (our schemes are pretty vanilla) but I think it’s clear that our line is simply not as good as everyone thinks they are and moves need to be made to replace them in the coming years.

  15. Sensiblebuc Says:

    @joey88

He’s just trying to communicate to the Detractors on their level. No harm no foul.

  16. joey88 Says:

@DREW, You are right about anyone saying before the season they were “contenders”. It was debated many times on espn after the 3-1 start

  17. Buc You Says:

“WE’RE REBUILDING JERK OFFS. GAIN SOME PERSPECTIVE”

    WTF???

I do NOT want to gain any perspective abour Raheem rebuilding a bunch of “jerk offs”. Nope, I don’t even want to be around when they all put their face on each other.

  18. Drew Says:

uh oh, call the “WHAAAAMBULANCE”!!! lol

  19. Tampa2 Says:

Did you notice that everyone thought the O-Line was playing mean and Jelling under Gruden, then went soft last year and this year? Did you notice, too, that the defense played better last year immediately after Bates was fired. Yet No one wants to Credit Gruden or Monte Kiffin for the development and training of these guys! Well, Gruden & Kiffin are gone. And so is any recognizable improvement in the O-line or the Defense as a whole. Where is the problem? It isn’t these young players fault! These are good young players! it is the coaching staff in general, and Raheem the Dream specifically. These kids are not being developed and Trained at their positions. And Raheem doesn’t know how to train them. The guy is simply not a coach. hell, I want to be the CEO of GM. But I know that I am not qualified to be, nor would I take the job and imbarrass myself. Raheem has no problem imbarrassing himself. That is becoming more evident every game!
