Rachaad White Impressing On Many Levels (Video)

July 31st, 2025

The superlatives were flowing freely for running back Rachaad White today.

No surprise for a guy who racked up nine touchdowns last season — three rushing and six receiving.

White is in a contract year, and also a year that sees him entering as a backup for the first time since he and Leonard Fournette were in the Bucs backfield during the 2022 season.

Todd Bowles seemingly couldn’t stop gushing about his fourth-year running back.

“He’s lighter. He’s quicker. He looks great back there returning punts, “Bowles began. “He looks great in the backfield. He’s our best blitz pick-up guy. He’s moving well. I like where he is mentally and physically right now. His cuts are quicker. He’s always had great hands and great vision running the football. And, you know, he’s been great.”

Sounds like an A+ on White’s report card through seven days of training camp.

As for being the Bucs’ top blitz-pickup guy, that’s what will further cement White getting plenty of work, especially when Tristan Wirfs is off the field early in the season.

Ya well…..I’m surprised he hasn’t been trained on dropping into pass coverage yet.

  2. 813BUCBOI Says:

i’ve always liked white….kid has the talent…we need him…hope he puts it all together

    GO BUCS!!!!

  3. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

I still don’t get the obsession from wanting to move on from this guy. I thought the whole point was keeping as many good players as you can, wherever you can. White should get a new deal that doubles as an insurance policy for our entire RB room.

  4. LakelandBuc Says:

I wonder why he only got three touches in the playoff lost to Washington. Especially after he had over a 100 total yards in the opener against Washington.

SMH, still trying to figure this one out

  5. StickinUp4Centers Says:

There was an ESPN article yesterday suggesting that the Bears should trade for White. In it, the author used Next Gen Stats, which said that:

White, in contrast, added 48 rush yards over expectation on 144 carries last season in Tampa Bay. And he’s elite in the pass game, with the second-best overall receiver score over the past three seasons combined — behind only Christian McCaffrey

We knew that he was a great receiving back, but it was interesting to see that these stats regarded White as an above-average runner.

  6. BA’s Red Pen Says:

One can make an argument that Rachaad is the best RB2 in the league.

  7. BucEmUp Says:

There is room.for improvement for sure. When someone comes in and steals your job because they are better, it usually makes you work even harder. Iron sharpens iron maybe he take the next step. Yes hes always been a good blocker and reciever but hes our third best rusher imo until he proves otherwise. I never understood why tucker didnt get more touches in the past the kid runs hard.

  8. SlyPirate Says:

RW is a Great interview. Terrible RB. Rojo v2. Tucker should be RB2.

He’s only on the team because he’s likable.

Fun Fact: People get jobs and promotions more often based upon likability vs performance. -Harvard Business Review study

  9. Scott Says:

    We need him this year.

  10. DRob Says:

No YOU can white and bucky lol

  11. Boomer Says:

It’s the 5 guys up front, the blocking schemes and the play calling that have a lot to do with just how good a running back is perceived. Rachaad played under Byron and Mr. Run Updamiddle on first down Canales.

I agree with the comments above.
If all goes well – it’s a 20 game season and White is going to be a big part of that.

  12. Weebs10 Says:

I hope he balls this year! Such an important piece. I loved it every time he and Bucky were on the field at the same time!

  13. Kenton Smith Says:

    Rachaad White is a stud.

  14. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

He’s an elite receiver out of the backfield. Underutilized too in my opinion.

  15. adam from ny Says:

so rachaad and bucky tango very nicely together…

    maybe tuck is jelly

  16. adam from ny Says:

i think i saw big vita doing the mambo too 🙂

  17. JimBobBuc Says:

I’m concerned about Heck since I have PTSD from the Skule vs Hutch fiasco last year. Every game, White should start the game and help Heck in pass pro. Once Heck settles in for each game, bring in Bucky full time.

  18. jimmy Says:

he’ll be gone. he is totally replaceable.

  19. Adam's Angry Says:

Stop trying to make White happen. It’s not going to happen.

  20. GoneGator Says:

Hoping RW has a great season. Trust Grizz not to mis-use him like Coen did at seasons end last year. 🤞🏼

  21. Kenton Smith Says:

Good call jimmy. Bucky and White had same number of receptions last year. Difference was White had 6 receiving tds to Buckys 1. White had 1000 total yards last year and 1500 the year before. White had 9 total touchdowns each of the last two seasons. Bucky had 8 TDS last year. To say White is totally replaceable is taking out of touch with reality to another level.

  22. Guinness8 Says:

looks like DJ Williams is gone.

  23. Jarrod Says:

    R. White has always been a good player, his rushing issues initially in my opinion were due to a subpar oline and an OC that was not very good (Leftwich). Last year was a true representation of White’s ability in the 4.3 ypc since he has a much better oline and an OC that was creative and drew up good plays. Bucky is very talented, but he came in at an opportune time with the improved oline and new OC. I still firmly believe this team would do best if both Bucky and White carried the ball about 180 times each. And if Tucker really does blow up this year, then in the long run, I think you really should trade either White or Tucker before the deadline. my reasoning is you are not going to retain both in 26 and you are wasting their talents by just sitting on the sidelines. I have read some comments where people talk about why trade depth, if you are making a run at the playoffs? Well you are right, depth is great but TB didn’t use that depth last year when playing WSH when they really should have, so that depth did nothing for them. I never understood that game plan, and really feel like they lost that game due to two reasons: the Mayfield fumble and TB having a time of possession of 24 mins while WSH had the ball for 35+ mins. If you control the clock w/a good run game, odds are you win the game and in my opinion there is no legitimate reason why White only ran the ball one time unless he was injured or something. At a minimum, he should have had 10 carries.

  24. Eckwood Says:

Great utility back but scary to hear Bowles say he has great vision . It is in fact real good beyond the line of scrimmage but really really bad behind the line scrimmage. Great Utility , Terrible third and short !!

  25. View from 132 Says:

A big year from both White and Bucky is a real nightmare for opposing defenses. That would be fun to watch. Forget the Baker MVP stuff – if this offense doesn’t have to throw as much and can still score, that’s big.

  26. Famu_Rattler Says:

I agree that this offense does not have to throw as much to the WR’s to score as much. We can swing pass, screen pass, seem pass (RB’s or TE’s) to move the ball and score.

Like Vince Lombardi use to say, “Screen Right, Screen Left, Swing Right, Swing Left, Seem Up the Middle” until they can stop it.

So in training camp and preseason practice it until the players can’t practice anymore. Run it over and over and over and over again. Make it our signature play. Like the Eagle Tush Push hard to stop. Practice it until it until perfection is common place. Go Bucs,,,, Go Bucs

  27. jimmy Says:

yea umm no, not a stud, another jason project. enjoy his final season. he was part of the rebuild and thats about it. cowboy’s game anyone? he was the guy with no competition and didnt break out. nothing personal…. the bucs will be lucky to get anything for him. if he’s such a stud how come he’s gotten beaten or hasnt beaten lenny or bucky for the starting job? cause he’s not that good.

canales is partly to blame i think with his stupid play calling. is this the amnesia ward or something?

  28. ChiBuc Says:

Are we supposed to be impressed by that video?

  29. Aqualung Says:

A real head coach wouldn’t let any assistant misuse a talent and insist they play to player strengths.

But we hazn Mr Twocoach who loves to masturmind ways of using players in unexpected ways. So much so that the players themselves can’t pull it off. Vita! You’re returning punts ! That will catch them by surprise!

  30. garro Says:

If he would just hit the hole with some steam more conistently he will help himself with that contract me thinks. Love the do it all he has though. Blocking counts guys.

    Go Bucs!
