Todd Bowles Speaks (A Little) On Injuries To David Walker And Michael Pratt

July 27th, 2025

Update.

So what’s up with Bucs rookie outside linebacker David Walker? And third-string quarterback Michael Pratt? Todd Bowles shed some light on the subjects this morning.

But very little light. Walker got hurt near the end of practice on Friday. Walker did leave the practice field under his own power escorted by trainers, for what that is worth.

NFL teams are not obligated to speak about injuries until after the 53-man roster is set and standard injury reports are issued. Bowles did not disclose what Walker’s injury is but it doesn’t sound like he will be back at practice on Monday when the pads come on.

“He’s still sore and they are still running tests on him,” Bowles said. Walker did not practice this morning.

Backup quarterback Michael Pratt has yet to practice this training camp. He’s on the PUP list (Physically Unable to Perform). For Pratt, it is his back and Bowles didn’t sound like he has any date for Pratt to return.

Bowles deemed Pratt’s injury as a “lower back” and that he is “week-to-week, We don’t know when that return will be.”

Bowles added that Pratt is “pretty sore back there.”

So with only three quarterbacks in camp, Bowles confessed the Bucs are eying quarterbacks to bring in but nothing is imminent.

“We may add one,” Bowles said, “We’ve been looking. Depends who gets hurt.”

Pratt was supposed to challenge Trask, what a joke. How did this guy hurt himself since he hasn’t played football in quite some time. Walker’s hype was just that, hype.

    Tyler Huntley needs a job.

    I respect your posts but….

“Walker’s hype was just that, hype.”

Really? – “A knee-jerk reaction is a quick, instinctive, and often unthinking response to a situation, similar to the involuntary kicking motion of the knee when a tendon is tapped. It’s a colloquial term for a response that is automatic and lacks thoughtful consideration of the circumstances.”

Are you suggesting you’ve given it thoughtful consideration? For two practices?

You’re writing him off before the pads even come on?

I really hope Walker can come back in time for preseason games. I’d like to see him play.

Hope Walker’s tests have good results. Also worried about Pratt being on the week-to-week list for his lower back, PUP. I have been rooting for him, however do see the need to bring on another QB.

Yes, look to the Browns. They have a up and coming QB that would do well with Baker’s mentoring and the entire team helping him too. And if his brother makes the team, it’s a win-win for them and the Bucs.
