Bucs Sign Guard Michael Jordan

July 25th, 2025

“He’s not wearing No. 23, Mr. Glazer.”

Joe had fun typing that headline.

Man, the last time Joe watched Michael Jordan play it was on that wacky 2003 Wizards team with ancient icons like Charles Oakley, Jerry Stackhouse and Christian Laettner, and notorious NBA Draft bust Kwame Brown.

But now the Bucs have their own Michael Jordan, a veteran guard signed yesterday, per CBS Sports. Jordan started 11 games at left guard for the Patriots last year, and he’s been a starter for Carolina (2021 and 2022), and the Bengals in 2019 and 2020. That’s 40 games of starting experience.

Jordan is not a tackle. The Bucs need him at guard because Sua Opeta, who blew out his knee a year ago, is not ready to play.

Yeah, Jordan has played on some sad offensive lines, but Joe can’t claim to have studied the guy. The 2019 fourth-round pick of the Bengals has the approval, obviously, of Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht. That’s enough for Joe.

Darn was the MJ Wizards experiment was over 20 years ago now! I AM SO OLD…

  2. KABucs Says:

Kwame Brown… when I read that name, all I can think of is the rant that Stephen A Smith does about him. That’s Stephen A at his funniest. LOL That and when he rags on the Cowboys. I’m not a huge Stephen A fan but I am when he talks about those two subjects. 😂

  3. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Again…just like Heck, the Bucs signed a backup player. We don’t need a starter so I am good with any OL player who can handle a starting role temporarily.

  4. JimBobBuc Says:

I gotta feel bad for Sua. He was neck and neck with Breds last year before the ACL. He’s a good teammate – he walked out onto the practice field to meet with his OL brothers when they were huddling up. Nobody cheered for him when he walked out.

When Tristian hobbled out on the field on crutches he got tons of support with the fans yelling encouragement to him. Another great teammate and player.

  5. BucVoyager Says:

I’ll bet he was named after MJ too.

Looks like Opeta isn’t working out and that’s a shame

  6. Hodad Says:

We’re thin as rice paper at tackle, and we sign a guard. We didn’t have Opeta all last season, now we need to replace him? I don’t get it. Maybe they’re moving Klein to tackle?

  7. Stanglassman Says:

Why no mention of the signing of Tackle Tyler McLellan?

  8. BucU Says:

Why in the hell did Jason Licht re sign Opeta? Complete blockhead move.

    813BucBoi … ‘christain wilkins?…..

YES! Not gonna happen, but I’d love it if it did.

  15. First Last Says:

How many players can we start the season on IR or PUP or whatever? Is our goal to bank on all of our good players being fresh mid season and then making a run for the Superbowl? The offense better be ready for straight shootouts. I could see Baker pusher 50 touchdowns IN THE AIR this season if our whole team, defense included, is going to be toast.

  16. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    A slam dunk signing

Totally what went through my head. The lights go out, the synthesizer rocks …

Tykee is 23 but I think you can have mulitiple players with the same number now. MJ NEEDS to wear 23. It would be amazing!

  18. garro Says:
