YaYa Diaby Weighs In On Todd Bowles Contract Extension

July 4th, 2025

Joe’s not sure if Team Glazer proverbially showed Todd Bowles the money last month, but they did extend his contract through the 2028 season.

It’s unclear whether Bowles’ initial contract was through 2025 or 2026.

Regardless, one of Bowles’ young Bucs is eager to tell the world Team Glazer made the right move.

YaYa Diaby explained that Bowles is there for players and are all about what he’s selling.

“First of all, shoutout to everybody that went into giving him that extension because he’s definitely that coach that all the guys buy into,” Diaby told SirusXM NFL Radio. “And, you know, him being a defensive-mind coach, and me being on the defensive side, it helped me out a lot in my first two seasons, and it’s just going to keep improving.

“Having a guy like Coach Bowles where you can go talk to him at any time of the day and, you know, he will never turn down a conversation with you. He’ll tell you how it is and you love a coach like that, somebody that’s also going to push you to the limit. I feel like that’s why guys love fighting for Coach Bowles. I’m super-excited for him to get that extension. And it’s time to get him another Super Bowl but this time him being the head coach.”

Yes, Tampa Bay players are excited about their head coach. A Pro Bowl quarterback leads their stellar offense. The defense is loaded with raw talent and experience, and the Bucs signed a big-bucks punter to complement their money kicker.

Now it’s time for Bowles to win — in the postseason.

Man, I hope Bowles gets a couple of Super Bowls. It seems like he deserves to. Everyone loves him (other than a few of the perpetually butt hurt fans).

  2. John Ocala Says:

Things just feel right. Attitude, chemistry, desire, professionalism, ect…. This team simply feels like a special squad….
    Go Buc’s

  3. Aqualung Says:

When results start correlating to the player love for the dual hatted double-half coach, it will make fans happy. Until then it’s a cuddle toy that extinct reptiles like to drool on.

  4. CleanHouse Says:

This guy ya ya sure has a lot to say… maybe he should do something on the field first

  5. Pickgrin Says:

Punting was atrocious last year – if the new punter turns out to be good – then that could definitely help this team with field position in a number of games this year….

  6. JimBobBuc Says:

At least Bowles hired Zach Beistline to be the clock management coach. I bet the Glazers and/or Licht were in Bowles’ ear to hire someone for that job. I hope Zach is also working now with first time play caller Josh Grizzard on end-of-game scenarios.

  7. Sapp 2 Fundamentally Sound Says:

Absolutely improved special teams will make an improvement in field position and scoring.
A better punter & punt returner will make a big impact.

All talk n hype n bs for a few more months. JBF has to keep us engaged

  9. Mr. Editor Says:

Isn’t a contract extension the kiss of death from the Glazers? How many coaches and GMs have they granted an extension only then to fire them? Mark Dominik is a good example.

  10. Anyhony Says:

Do fans of teams with offensive head coaches (who call their own plays) have to read and listen to this kind of troll crap?

  11. Aqualung Says:

    Editor – good point!

  12. Mr. Editor Says:

Thank you, Aqualung! I’ll add Jon Gruden to that list, among others. By the way, Adam Schefter refers to me as MISTER Editor. Thank you!

  13. Destinjohnny Says:

Look he isn’t Parcels but I’m glad we have him

    Good question @Anyhony
This is the only “fan site” I’ve ever spent much time on and frankly I’ve been very surprised at the number of critics (of the coaches and specific players) I’ve seen here.

Criticism is fine but can they at least argue their points with objective info, facts, even their opinions without all the “straw man” arguments, and mis-direction, when their favored narrative/s are threatened ? So far the answer appears to be no.

Hey Aqualung, Results like 4 consecutive NFC South Division Champions, 4 straight years of payoffs games? With four different OC’s? The last 3 working around less money available, clearing our cap space from our post Brady seasons? Those types of results? I’d bet you would love to be a fan of any other team in the NFC South Division and expect to have better results. Than the 4 consecutive seasons NFC South Division Champions, with our 5th season us being a wild card team, that ran the table and won the Super Bowl after beating the saints the last other NFC Division champions and putting Brees out of the NFL.

Unattach yourself to the Buccaneer fan club, there are three other teams in our division, with head coaches and owners GM’s you will love to be a fan of their “Results”… I am sure you would be…

Glad to hear our young players, support their head coach, and are excited for his success..

    GO!!!!!BUCS!!!!!
