“Entire Life” Preparation For Benjamin Morrison
July 3rd, 2025
Groomed.
So a big name in NFL media seems to know more about Bucs rookie cornerback Benjamin Morrison than most.
Ryan Clark, the 13-year cornerback turned ESPN analyst, spoke recently about Morrison and noted how not only did Morrison’s father play in the NFL alongside Todd Bowles, he was the Redskins’ team chaplain when Clark played for Washington 20 years ago.
Joe recently learned Morrison’s dad is the current team chaplain for the Arizona Cardinals.
That aside, Clark said on NFL Power Hour that the elder Morrison has been molding his son for decades to be an NFL cornerback. Per Clark, he “has been prepping him to be a professional his entire life, and I think he adds value to that [Bucs] team right away.”
Clark cited Morrison’s press coverage skils and how well he plays the ball.
The Bucs have had success over the years with sons of NFL players and coaches. They often overachieve. Perhaps Morrison is the next.

That was all reported here before Clark said it but it would be nice for him to follow Winfield jr. in that regard following fathers in the NFL and ball out. How special would that be to have 3 DB’s whose fathers played in the NFL make this team? Never forget his draft phone call and the gratitude he showed.

Let’s see how Character vs both character and performance creates a better team.
Hey Joe would you know how to test that formula that Jason prefesses.

No doubt he is a smart NFL ready player, just hope his hip is healed.

I’ve never seen him play a single down. I hope at the very least he’s a Brian Kelly type: long arms, blanket coverage skills.

Time for some but Todd’s.
But Todd is a crap coach
But Todd has 2 jobs
But Todd Swiss cheese, soft zone, injuries don’t count, passing yards, more press-man, blah blah blah…
There, I saved you guys some time 😉

Looking forward to him coming to an agreement on his contract. Hopefully it gets done before training camp.

He’ll beat out Dean to start the season.

I’m very pumped about our new additions in the secondary 🤘🏼
Stay healthy guys…. The only way our secondary isn’t much improved is if we are decimated by injuries again🤞🏼. Even if that happens we should be better equipped to deal with it.

Press coverage skills aren’t nearly as important in Todd’s defense as lining up over center from the CB position while the NT drops wide, then going into 20’yards deep off ball coverage the next play after a big gain.

Got good vibes about these rookie DB’s. Don’t let me down fella’s.

@Aqualung – we won the SB with two CB’s that specialized in press man – Davis and Dean. That’s what they played in college and why they were drafted. We also had stud DT’s, stud OLB’s, stud ILB’s and stud S’s.

@alan lofton…some people bring meat and wine to the feast but leave it wanting for the bearer’s. Departure. DW55. Meshawn Johnson. AB. Tree humper.

It looks like the Bucs are moving away from squishy soft zones.

I like both of the corners we drafted so far…but… We might not actually sign Morrison. If he wants to sit out the year I won’t care. If he re-enters the draft he will be a 7th round pick next year. They won’t let him be a free agent. Then he loses millions of dollars to gain something he didn’t deserve anyway. It might mean 30 out of 32 teams don’t have a second round pick this year. If they hold out of camp let them all lose a year of crazy earning to sit home then go from the second round to the sixth or seventh round. Can any of these clowns say “do you want fries with that?”. Management materiel.

Are you saying that Morrison isn’t signed yet? Why not?
