Haason Reddick Explains Missing Most OTAs, Vows He’s About The Bucs

June 11th, 2025

Priorities mapped out.

The star free agent signing of the offseason, Haason Reddick, was not around OTAs when practices were held in front of the prying eyes of the local pen and mic club.

But when minicamp started yesterday, Reddick was here.

Now Reddick was around One Buc Palace in the very early stages of the offseason. Reddick spoke today and explained why missed a lot of voluntary time and promised he’s a team player with a goal to help the Bucs win ballgames.

“It wasn’t even really about working out on my own,” Reddick said. “This year was more so, you know, buttoning up on things, trying to transition, get down here, find a place to live, all that type of stuff.

“So it wasn’t really about me wanting to work on my own. I came down here to introduce myself to the guys, get around the young guys.

“Like I said, I was trying to get everything buttoned up,” Reddick said. “I don’t want no distractions. I come down here where I want nobody worried about, ‘Oh he got this house… “

“I’m gonna come down here [and] I’m gonna focus on football, I’m gonna focus on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And I want to play great football in front of the Krewe. That’s all I want to do.”

Well, that’s quite a statement and Joe gets where Reddick’s head was. He wanted to get all the non-football stuff that comes along with the chore of moving out of the way and finished by training camp, so he could lock in at the task at hand.

Reddick spoke for about 11 minutes and raved about the Bucs, mentioning how Chris Braswell and David Walker are hitting him up for advice — Braswell even asked Reddick to monitor him and offer feedback. And Reddick said he is looking forward “extremely”  to squaring up with Tristian Wirfs hoping Wirfs sharpens Reddick’s iron.

Reddick had an impressive media session. If his play is half as good as his presentation, Bucs fans are going to have a fun fall.

    *whiny

  4. Hodad Says:

Made up big deal. Liked what I heard from him today. Got a good feeling about this defense this year. Just imagining up this team could be with a killer defense. Think we’re on track for a big year.

  5. Obvious One Says:

SURE AM Glad to have him on our team… Thank You football demi gods and Thank You for making the Wise decision Jason Licht.

Now, if we can’t only had another Young, Proven, Well Rounded and STRONG line baker in the depth department behind LVD and SVD….. I’d feel like walking on water

  6. Obvious One Says:

Oooof! ” Now if we only had another…”

  7. SlyPirate Says:

    “Hoping Wirfs sharpens Reddick’s iron.”

    Phrasing

  8. ballwasher61 Says:

I’m not thinking the Bucs sign another LB unless someone goes down, just don’t get that vibe with all they’ve said and done so far. BUT…..I’m sure licht is kicking the tires on all possible players.

  9. ballwasher61 Says:

It wouldn’t surprise me if they signed someone like Pratt but I don’t expect it.

  10. ModHairKen Says:

It’s embarrassing that some reporter had to ask him that.

  11. KABucs Says:

Brady is super whiney in those commercials. LOL
    It’s a bit annoying.

  12. matthew a veal Says:

this is a little close to the maxim “If you are explaining, you are losing.’

since its off the field, I’m not going to get too worried.

but if we lose, i really don’t want an explanation. i don’t even want an explanation when we win either, in case that helps the next opponent

  13. Rod Munch Says:

Good to hear. He hasn’t missed anything mandatory, and if he’s getting all his ducks in a row so he’s ready to go 100% without distractions when it matters, I’m cool with that, afterall he’s a veteran, not a rookie.

  14. B Says:

Understandable. What is a multi millionaire supposed to do in this scenario with only months notice? Hire a personal assistant?

  15. garro Says:

Words are nice. Sacks would be even better. Saounds like excuses mostly though. Guys have beeen known to live in their cars in order to play football. When you make NFL money you can hire people like real estate folks to do alot more than find a house.

    Go Bucs!

Good stuff. Understand, relocating and getting set up with your new life in FL first is smart. Then he can fully focus on the Bucs and winning. Still feeling this was a great fit for him and the Bucs and we fans will be seeing the benefits.
