Todd Bowles Not Speaking (Directly) With Haason Reddick?

June 4th, 2025

Bucs coach Todd Bowles.

Hold up. Before people start throwing rocks at Joe, let’s be clear: The headline is sarcasm.

Sometimes, Joe has to point this out because not everyone’s sarcasm meter is fine-tuned. Joe’s included.

So yesterday, after underwear football practice at One Buc Palace, Todd Bowles was asked if he expected his entire team to show up for mandatory minicamp.

The keyword here is “mandatory.” OTAs this week are not mandatory. Minicamp is and it gets underway Tuesday.

“It’s mandatory,” Bowles said. “Everybody should be here.”

So that means Haason Reddick will be here? You know, the guy who signed as a free agent, the guy the Bucs hope solves their edge rushing woes. So far, he has been a no-show at OTAs.

“Minicamp is mandatory,” Bowles reiterated. “That’s about all I can tell you.”

Bowles was then asked if he has spoken to Reddick. Apparently, he has not. Instead, Bowles has given that assignment to Larry Foote, the Bucs’ outside linebackers coach, who is a big reason why Reddick signed with the Bucs.

Reddick and Foote go back to their Cardinals days where Foote was Reddick’s position coach in Phoenix as well.

“I keep in touch [with Reddick] through his position coach,” Bowles said.

No word on what the conversations between Bowles and Reddick, by way of Foote, have been.

So now the head coach isn’t on speaking terms with his big-money free agent edge rusher? Sarcasm, people. #Sarcasm

In another curious nugget: Bucs All-Pro tackle Tristan Wirfs was not participating in OTAs yesterday. No biggie. He’s taken off others. So too have Mike Evans and Vita Vea. It’s not mandatory, right?

Well, after practice, the Bucs held their annual event to help raise awareness for pediatric cancer known for players and some Bucs employees having their heads shaved or spray-painted by young cancer patients.

So who was at the event held in the Glazer Shed? Wirfs.

Reddick will show for mandatory camp because it’s in his best interest. He has a prove-it one year deal so he’ll want to ball this year to get a big raise – somewhere.

  2. Delusional Intelligence Says:

    Somethings are better off unwritten.

  3. BA’s Red Pen Says:

During his offseason media hits Bowles appears to be as relaxed and confident as I’ve ever seen him. It’s going to be a fun season.

  4. OR Buc Says:

Hell yea! He’s got his priorities straight. Stay healthy, hang with sick kids, dominate.

  5. Crickett Baker Says:

He may not love football the way we all thought he did. Or maybe
he has some personal problems we don’t know he has, or maybe he has some stigma about meeting his new team members early, and is not a very friendly person. Otherwise, perhaps he just wants the fans to invent scenarios.

  6. adam from ny Says:

    stop joe…hehe…

let reddick get in here and get to werk

  7. heyjude Says:

Just read on “Morning Cup of Joe” about Steelers-Parham tearing an Achilles during OTAs. I am okay with Reddick waiting for mandatory trainings. He only has a one year contract too. It’s all okay.

  8. Fred McNeil Says:

    Veterans often skip these things.

  9. DailyRich Says:

Rick Stroud said “The Bucs have zero concerns that Haason Reddick is not at OTAs. He participated in Phase 2 of the offseason workout program and said to be ‘working his butt off’ to prepare for the season.”

  10. George R Says:

I don’t think there is a proplem here. With the Eagles Reddick was not happy with his contract. Then he was traded to the Jets. He didn’t want to go to the Jets.

Reddick chose to sign with the Bucs. Reddick chose to sign the 1yr contract. He has no reason to hold out. He will be at mandatory camp.

  11. Cardiac kidz Says:

Joe, do the bucs have any resources left to make a play for Hendrickson? He wants to play, it would be for Cin. a trade outside of conference.

  12. jim Says:

Mandatory is mandatory unless it isn’t.

    Wirfs is an example?

  13. Scott Says:

He played over half of the snaps for the Jets and sucked. Does he really care about football or was this another bargain gone bad? Time will tell.

  14. Scott Says:

Dude made 14 million last year but was unhappy

  15. BustedCoverage Says:

Reddick signing is already a bust. That was proven in NY last season.

Dude is toast and faking his way to millions for nothing.

Bowles has plans to put him in a soft zone coverage anyway.

  16. BayouBullet Says:

I simply don’t get the Hassan Riddick euphoria. Regardless of Joe’s endless propaganda the man simply hasn’t been effective in the last year and a half. Everyone just quit with the ‘but he played for the Jets’ splogies. He didn’t ‘plsy for the Jets… He quit on the Jets. In 10 games he garnered 2 half sacks… That’s 1 sack in 10 games… 393 defensive snaps. But let’s not stop there, let’s go back to his last season in Philly. In his last 7 games in Philadelphia he managed 2 and a half sacks…what a stud. So in his last 17 games he’s managed 3 and a half sacks over a season and a half. Now let’s not forget he will be 31 come September. Again why are we so excited that we have Hassan? My mom used to say ‘ wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up first’ .

  17. Scott Says:

How is he going to react if Chris takes the next step and cuts into his playing time or Walker comes on strong and earns more playing time.

  18. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Scott

The checks still cash the same..

  19. Chris Says:

Reddick has something to prove and is pissed off how he was traded, he plays both his former teams Eagles and Jets this season, trust me he’s getting ready for this season, Bucs going to have 3 guys with 10+ sacks this year. Reddick,Diaby,Kancey . LFG!!!!

  20. stpetebucsfan Says:

Given the troll infestation here it’s very wise to point out sarcasm since they frequently confuse it with reality or worse still lamearse humor.

@Chris I tend to agree with you.

@Bbullet I respect your opinion although I lean to Chris. There is a LOT of cheese on the line for Reddick and he’s well aware it’s now or never.

Plus I always go to my favorite line from Shawshank..

“Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things and no good thing ever dies.”

  21. Jeffrey Becker Says:

should i worry? just in case…

    Ben Solak’s offer:

Bengals get: 2026 second-round pick, 2027 fourth-round pick (can become a third-rounder with performance conditions)

Lions get: Hendrickson, 2026 fifth-round pick

can we afford that/make it work financially?

  22. Woodman Says:

HR made 10 mil last last year with the Jets so if you are going to troll Scott get your facts straight

  23. BucsBeBack (Artist formally known as: BringBucsBack) Says:

Why schedule anything then call it “voluntary“? If my boss called a meeting on one of my days off and said attendance was voluntary and my presence REALLY didn’t matter, I would never, ever go to the meeting. You either want people there or you don’t!
What happens if no quarterbacks show up? What happens if no cornerbacks show up? Etc…. You either have to be there, or IT doesn’t exist!

  24. Todd Bowls Says:

The ghost of Randy Gregory is strong. But I don’t think Sackman Reddick and Stoner Gregory at the same person, not by a long shot.

  25. Scott Says:

I’m not trolling Woodman. I hope he brings it and takes the defense to the next level. Hoping this isn’t Michael Johnson 2.0.. my dad is a diehard Jets fan so I have followed the story and have my own opinion.

  26. Jeff Says:

Betcha he doesn’t show for mandatory mini camp! Dudes a flake. He was trash with Carolina.

  27. DailyRich Says:

Someone pointed out on Discord that Reddick had double-digit sacks in Philly and skipped OTAs there too.

  28. Bucsarg Says:

The mans total history to this point does not match any of the distrust and hate. As a kid he was a three sport athlete and always loved football the most. He went from a walk on to first round pick. He is a family man and always has been. He has a close connection to God. The Jets thing looks like a good tough guy stood his ground in a bad situation and things got ugly. Great men stand their ground. I believe he will be there and give us his best.

  29. GangstaRIB Says:

It’s just OTAs. If he skips next week then we got a problem.

  30. SlyPirate Says:

“The Sky is Falling” Journalism … ie click bait … eye roll

Suh, JPP, and Football Jesus (TB12) skipped OTAs

  31. Addb Says:

Wake me up if he misses mini camp lol

Many vets have their own trainers and routines for the spring

  32. Aqualung Says:

This is actually good news. It means Reddick hasn’t begun the usual Bicoachal Regression Program most of the defenders experience.

Next week, it will be interesting to see if Reddick has anything to say about being dropped into coverage 30 times out of the first 35 11 on 11 sessions.

  33. Quezter Says:

I don’t see this as sarcasm…I see this as stirring the pot!

  34. BuccaDAWG Says:

Yep, he’ll be here , he wants to come out big time this season, it’s a mon g

ey year. Plus the holdout drama in NYJ hi s tory have nothing to do with this season. He gonna shower in TAMPA BAY & get paid for it next year, book it!!!!
