Morning Cup Of Joe

May 19th, 2025

Welcome to your Morning Cup of Joe, an eye-opener to help Joe’s readers ease into their busy workday with a few football links, wacky news and a pleasant distraction.

Distraction of the Day

Cam Ward won’t get a primetime game. This is very rare for a No. 1 overall pick of a rookie quarterback. Mike North of NFL scheduling — no, not that Mike North, the legend of Chicago sports radio — says you can’t draft your way into a primetime game and you must earn it. So how exactly did the Dixie Chicks earn five primetime games? [PFT]

Did the Jags use a woman mimicking sex acts to promote their schedule release in a team video? [TMZ]

Antonio Brown “detained” after getting into a hassle at a kickboxing event in Miami. Gunshots fired. AB alleges someone tried to rip his chain off. What would give anyone the idea his chain is worth something? Unclear if he fired off the rounds. Video style! [New York Post]

BSPN wants to replace that abortion of a show “Around the Horn,” which will be put out of our misery in a couple of weeks, replaced by a one-hour sports talk show hosted by Peter Schrager. Smartest thing BSPN has done since it launched the SEC Network. [CNBC]

Former Oklahoma State and Utah State basketball player popped for weed candy in Indonesia. Wrong country, dude. He could get hit with the death penalty by firing squad. Oh, and the Indonesian Basketball Association just banned him for life. [CNN]

Luke Nichols, the creator, producer and star of the YouTube channel “Outdoors Boys,” is shutting it down “for a while.” Said unexpected fame and stardom got to be too much. Those videos were cool. The scenery of him hiking through the snow-covered Alaskan mountains was borderline breathtaking. His videos camping in -20 degree weather were wild. Watching him build survival shelters from whatever he could scrounge up in the wilderness while winter hiking was interesting and educational. Burrowing beneath the snow to build a tunnel of an igloo to spend the night was cool. Dude had 15 million subscribers and he produced over 1,000 videos. [YouTube]

Not that Mike North….are you referring to Peter North?

Buzzed? Wow! But Boss! Bubba told me he unplugged itititititit!

    Go Bucs!

  3. Leighroy Says:

My kids love watching the Outdoor Boys. Their videos have been gateways for us to introduce them to camping and funny enough…getting them away from the television and inspiring them to get outdoors. Seeing other kids (when featured) have fun is a powerful motivator and gives them inspiration for backyard play. Not everything on YouTube is garbage. It sounds like his oldest son wants to take the baton producing some videos now, I know it won’t be the same but I sure hope he does, their family was great.

  4. mg Says:

    Congratulations Mr. Woodson.

  5. Irishmist Says:

Having a hot girl mimicking different amorous positions wouldn’t have worked for our schedule release. We play the Saints twice. It would be in poor taste to mimic relations with an underage boy.

    Prime Time Games:

    I. Hate. them. By the time 8:20p on a Sunday, Monday or Thursday rolls around, I am fairly well lubed and ready for moi-moi. (Hawaiian) for sleepy time.

  7. Fred McNeil Says:

Antonio in trouble again? Say it ain’t so.

  8. Bojim Says:

    ‘That’ Peter North? 😁

  9. Joe Says:

    No.

In Chicago (or those who monitor sports radio) there is someone far more famous and popular than this guy at the NFL.

    inspiring them to get outdoors.

Did the same for Joe. Just not in Alaska in the winter. 🙂

  11. Razorramone Says:

Same, I hate the “Prime Time” games and judging by the results, so do our Bucs. Go Bucs!!

    Awful.

NFL suit tells Kay Adams the data shows most injuries happen immediately after a bye week.

Interesting. I’d like to see the data on that. We probably won’t get that.

    Antonio Brown

Remember when Antonio Brown and Mike Edwards got suspended for having a fake COOF card? How stupid was that in hindsight? I think I used my as fuel for my fire pit. What a scam!

Luke Nichols, the creator, producer and star of the YouTube channel “Outdoors Boys,” is shutting it down “for a while.” Said unexpected fame and stardom got to be too much.

I’ll check the channel out. Thanks for the tip. YouTube lately has been my go-to for any streaming content. There is one channel I support via Patreon and he had to take a break about a year ago. I guess content creation, when you are successful, is very demanding and you end up working 100 hour weeks. You’re essentially a network television studio without the large staff to do various jobs.

Doing some basic reading. you know 1 minute maybe. the Division winners would still be in the playoffs the seeding would just be determined based on overall record.

I like the home playoff game for division winners personally and don’t like this rule.

Speaking of AB, there is a video out there where he is schooling a young Shilo Sanders. Shilo responded with a video, basically covering AB like a glove. AB sent what he wanted you to see, and I love the fac that Shilo responded with additional clips
