Still blaming the offense for the loss versus the Redskins.
Never mind that the defense couldn’t force a punt or get off the field so the offense could get back to work.
And just sweep under the rug that Bowles decided to play not to lose instead of playing to win. He chose to kick the tying FG instead of going for it and trying for a TD on 4th down.
He trusted his defense to make a stop that they were not prepared to do, nor did they show that the entire game.
Bowles defensive scheme IS the problem!
The Joes and Ira are refusing to deal with that reality.
It’s the defense holding this team back from their potential.

Here is some reality for you:
2024 Playoffs
Commandos 23, Bucs 20
Eagles 55, Commandos 23
Weird, huh?

Me, the old hound, and our favorite podcast. Place is mowed and trimmed and the flowers and vegetables are watered. Gorgeous day, wife taking me to dinner tonight and so I read ToddBowles#1 comment. Nobody blamed the offense for the Washington loss. Joe made a remark that we win that game without the fumble but I don’t think he meant that. Field position- we get the ball finally at our 2 yard line? Doesn’t take a football genius to know that the defense in that situation has much higher odds of scoring first in that scenario. We’d have had a better chance to win that game if Washington had gone ahead and scored there with 12 minutes left and kicked it off to us. Debate that all you want, it’s a fact. The Commanders absolutely couldn’t have been more fortunate the way everything went that game.

Ask 32 head coaches if you have to score first would you want your offense with a first down at their 2 yard line or your defense on the field with the opponent backed up to the 2 yard line. I believe all 32 would choose the latter. Force a punt and get good field position and win the game. No brainer. Just like us kicking the tying field goal was a no brainer.

I’m not quite as confident as Ira, but I posted in another article that if we stay healthy, this should be an 11 win team. Maybe even 12. Or 10 if we get some bad bounces / calls… But nothing lower than that, unless we get ravaged by injuries again.

Re: the Commandos playoff game… this is a case “both things can be true”.
The defense could not get off the field. We gave up 3rd and 4th down conversions endlessly. It resulted in super long drives that kept our offense off the field. I believe it was the lowest amount of offensive plays we ran all season, by a pretty decent margin.
And then on the offensive side- we were okay, but not great. A couple drives ended in turnovers, and we simply did not have that big of a margin of error. We needed points in those drives.
It was also one of the final 4 games where we virtually stopped using Rachaad White. Reminder that in 3 of those 4 games, our offense struggled mightily. We lost 2 of them, and barely beat the Saints in the other one.

Always enjoy hearing about the Tez and the Bo connection. Loving Bucky! Happy about Shilo, Reddick, Buka, and all the other newbies. Wishing them the best.
Optimistic after reading about the mini-camp. You brought up a great reason for these underwear camps in the podcast. Learning the playbook. Yes!
Great to hear about the Arians foundation. It’s all about child advocacy. So happy that the Glazers, players, and coaches still support it in any way they can.
