Bucs Offense And Defense Missing “It”

October 26th, 2022

BSPN’s Robert Griffin III.

It’s hard to define “it.” You either have “it” or you don’t.

And in the mind of one BSPN NFL analyst, the Bucs are hurting without the “it” from one player on each side of the ball.

Former quarterback Robert Griffin III appeared on the Monday Night Football pregame show on BSPN along with Suzy Kolber, former Bucs quarterback Steve Young, Alex Smith and Booger McFarland. The subject of the Bucs came up.

RGIII is of the mind Tampa Bay is miss foot-rubbing Rob Gronkowski and defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. What those two brought, RGIII said, cannot be replaced.

Gronk voluntarily retired and Suh is involuntarily retired.

“I just sit here and I am like, since Rob Gronkowski and Ndamukong Suh left, it feels like the Bucs have lost their identity on offense and defense, RGIII said.”

He is not the first guy to mention thist.

Joe always remembers how former Bucs guard Ian Beckles used to say of Suh that every defense Suh played for had a nasty, tough edge. And whenever he left, that defense would slip.

Do the Bucs appear to be a tougher defense without Suh? Doesn’t look that way to Joe — or Todd Bowles.

You can also hear what Smith and Young have to say about the Bucs in the BSPN video below.

    Don’t worry guys I’ve got this…

    *ahem*

    Suh

  2. SB~LV Says:

    Now you tell us !

  3. Oneilbuc Says:

Gronk and Suh are done time to give up on the Gronk and Suh it’s over I don’t think their coming back. Give it up please I’m tired of hearing excuses by bringing up Gronk and Suh. Every quarterback wish they can have Gronk and Suh . But this is a picture for the next quarterback the bucs draft or Kyle Trask I want to hear the same excuses for them that people giving Brady .

  4. teacherman777 Says:

JPP was the real heart of the team!

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

”ts hard to disagree with him….but there is no way one player on each side of the ball other than a QB can make that kind of difference.

This is unmistakably a coaching problem.

  6. SufferingSince76 Says:

Bucs coaches and management are in the head in the sand, we’ll die on this hill mode. Players are just cashing paychecks, apparently. I’d rather have a less talented team that plays hard than these talented underachievers.

  7. Lt. Dan Says:

Yea Suh was the man, emphasize “was”. Pretty telling that he is currently still unemployed in late October.

  8. Leopold Stotch Says:

I agree to the extent that he will not improve the play, but the mentality may improve. For the sake of the meme, I felt obligated to mention Suh, however.

  9. Beej Says:

You’d have to think bringing back Suh and/or JPP s discussed, but if Bowles wanted them, they’d be here

  10. MadMax Says:

I dont want to hear anyone pulling for anything other than tank, tank, tank. lol.

I know, I know….you’re not supposed to do that. But its clear the players have given up on this coaching staff and are just. going. through. the. motions.

We’re going nowhere with this coaching staff, 2 in particular, and I know they cant be fired because we all know the woke reasons. So Ive mailed it in just like the players. Lets set up for some good draft positions….unless Brady comes back(he wont) we were going to be in rebuild mode anyway. It started a lot sooner than I thought.

    Bo Nix

  11. Listnfrmafar Says:

This team went from one of the most exciting teams to watch to the most boring team in the NFL. Has nothing to do with Gronk, Brady won 3 SB’s without him. This is all on the coaching!!! Oneilsuckyall and the Trask lovers. Trask would be in traction by now playing on this team. If anyone saw the Monday night game the fans were calling for Zappe, how did that workout? It takes 2 or 3 games for the DC’s to watch film and figure out rookie QB’s weaknesses. So stop with the Trask crap you’re all just showing your ignorance of the game. Oneilsuckyall say it with me “I Hate the Rich White Man!!!”

  12. Show Me the TDs Says:

I agree with Teacherman. JPP plays and plays hard. Look how lean he was last year and playing with one arm. Did he whine? Did he quit? No, he’s a true warrior. The Bucs need someone like that to put a foot up Devon White’s butt. He runs around like a chicken with his head cut off. Maybe the Bucs can get Tampa General to give Hicks or Julio a day pass.

  13. Alanbucsfan Says:

Bucs have the most talented and highest paid injury/inactive list in NFL

  14. The Big Sombrero Says:

    Sean Payton 2023!!!!

  15. Gofortheface30 Says:

Where are all special needs commenters that wanted Bruce Arians gone? Bet you bozos would give anything to have him back now

  16. Bucfan Says:

    COACHING does matter a bit!

  17. macajubav Says:

Now RGIII that was definitely a QB that was missing the “it” factor.

  18. Joshua porter Says:

Hey Joe’s what u think about trading a 4 or 5th round for hunt?

  19. Tiny Dungy Says:

    BA (HC)

    Suh (DL)

    Next man up (LG)

  20. macajubav Says:

Why did Licht and the medical crew think signing Hicks, Jones, Gage, Rudolph was better than just bringing back Suh and JPP ??????? WTF, a whole list of old guys who are injured and can’t play. How was nobody able to tell these guys were unusable !

  21. Beej Says:

When you think about it, it is not uncommon for this team to lose to inferior teams. They seem to do a lot better against the stronger teams since Brady arrived

  22. CrackWise Says:

Let’s see how we play against a team that is not SUPER DESPERATE like Pitt and Carolina.

Or how we play without a Hurricane bearing down on us.

I thought we looked good against a VERY good Cowgirls team and FINALLY beat an Aints team that had our number for YEARS.

The Packers game is the one that tics me off and the one that I think started this trend of UNDERACHIEVING.

Thursday night will be the ultimate GET RIGHT GAME for the Bucs.

You fickle crybabies will always find something to cry about. So why don’t yall cry over something that is REAL vs something that is 100% for your entertainment. Win or Lose

  23. tampabayallday Says:

    NO LOGIC

  24. BuxfaninTX Says:

RG3 is clueless…. Can’t even do commentary on Big12 games

  25. Gofortheface30 Says:

Crack wise, you were either born a crack baby or had fetal alcohol syndrome, stop with the excuse making. Those excuses are pathetic. Absolutely pathetic

  26. Erik Hesson - Fine Artist - City of St Pete - Founder of UniqueModernArt.com Says:

‘It’ is what BA brings to the team.

‘IT’ is what JPP and Suh bring to the team.

    ‘It’ is what we lost.

I think the only way to bring ‘It’ back is to bring them back.

Lol, we lost 2 guaranteed HOF’ers and 2 borderline HOF’ers.

You didn’t think we would feel those losses as much, and neither did I.

    But we were wrong, obv.

  27. CrackWise Says:

Blaming coaches and players for failure is a form of excuse making.

I was simply implying that there is an ALTERNATIVE perspective that NO ONE is considering or talking about.

Under certain circumstances. Losing to DESPERATE teams just means you have to tip your hat to the other team.

I am simply providing us with a more hopeful outlook.

You cry babies are the one that sound like you’re on drugs. A bunch of grown butholes crying about FOOTBALL

  28. WiseOne Says:

Poor coaching and offensive coordinator is the problems, same plays every weeks, they need to create new playbooks for offence, defense is wear out on field too much.

  29. Listnfrmafar Says:

Crackhead, if you ever been in one football practice you will know that you practice offensive plays against the defense almost daily and vice versa. Eventually the D knows what coming do to repetition. This is exactly what the Bucs are experiencing against the opposing D’s. They’ve seen it for two seasons now. The Bucs are 32nd in rushing. If it stays as is they will be ALL time worst rushing O in the SB era. All these players cannot have possibly regressed at the same time. This is coaching and players not wanting to play for them. The D is showing it as well.

  30. Crickett Baker Says:

This is silly. They have played hard for Todd for two years. They couldn’t suddenly decide not to. Everyone is willing to give Goedeke another year to prove himself. Todd hasn’t even had a year at HC and he didn’t have any time to evaluate the offense or hire someone else for DC. We have to at least give him a little time to see if he gets his feet under him. I don’t know what is wrong with the Bucs except SO many great players are gone or injured.

  31. Mike in LOL Says:

The guy on the video said we need to feature Lenny more… dude Lenny has had way more opportunities than anyone else on offense this year. Felt like his name was called all throughout the Pittsburgh game.

  32. Listnfrmafar Says:

Cricket, he was the DC, the O didn’t play for him. He is a 2 time loser and what we’ve seen so far this season he is going for 3. You don’t hear any of the players from the Jets and or Miami going out of their way to praise him. He’s lost the locker room.

  33. D-Rok Says:

There’s that silly “identity” word again. Hmmm.

  34. orlbucfan Says:

Sure would like to have been a fly on the wall on that charter plane that flew home from Charlotte. This ain’t the 1980s when Bucs just didn’t have a franchise worth a crap. This is 2022. I hope quite a few players gave old fossil goat major snake eyes.

  35. Lakeland Steve Says:

    Suh!
