Donovan Smith Returns To Practice

September 22nd, 2022

Donovan Smith

The Bucs’ ironman left tackle is practicing today, his first on-field action since hyperextending his elbow against the Cowboys on Sept. 11.

Joe sure hopes Donovan Smith’s test run is successful!

    Awesome!

Now let’s hear some similar news about some of our nicked up WRs.

  4. SB~LV Says:

    Good!
Can’t wait to see the brace

  5. Capt.Tim Says:

    Fantastic news.
We are blessed with an excellent Left tackle.
Hope he can play pain free Sunday!
    We need the big guy!!
And Bravo to Brandon Walton. Good job playing LT.

  6. ClwJB Says:

We found a new swing tackle during his time away so a silver lining there for sure

Walton is light years better than Wells in pass pro

  7. Cobraboy Says:

Expect a bunch of inside shoulder pressure vs. Smith if he plays against GB, early and often, brace or no brace, to test him.

  8. D-Rok Says:

    Good news.

  9. Dooley Says:

It’s wild how this particular injury on a bigger guy like Smith led to JUST a hyperextension, and last year in a bit of a nastier collision took a smaller stature guy like SMB out for pretty much the whole season. Hopefully, Donnie can go this Sunday and start gaining some confidence in that injured arm back.

    LETS GO, BIG DONOVAN!

“Donnie’s hyper-extended elbow won’t heal overnight; he’ll miss several games regardless of his pain tolerance.”

Don’t look now…but I think we just got lucky.

  13. TomR Says:

just realized Brandon Walton is a Clearwater native! Go Bucs

Difference between this and smb is smb’s was much more severe. And he had to run with it. Best believe Donny is going to have a bazooka of a brace fastened to him. Not something you can run with.

  15. regulator16 Says:

I’m ok with him healing one more week. Still got a long season ahead. No need to rush people back.

  16. Buczilla Says:

    Hell yes!

  17. Defense Rules Says:

Bonzai … I know Donovan’s an Ironman, but I can see how he can get the required leverage against opposing behemoths if playing with a hyper-extended elbow. I had to have my left elbow ‘rebuilt’ back in 2005 after an accident and it was months before it became functional again. Can’t imagine how Donovan’s gonna do in there if it really was as bad as they made it sound shortly after it happened.

Sometimes a starter like Donovan playing at 80% truly is better than having his backup playing at 100%. Not sure that’s the case here. I thought that Walton held his own against the Saints’ DLine. Don’t know that would be the case against Green Bay, but I’m sure that they’ll BOTH dress for the game regardless of which one starts.

Yessir! He played at Seminole High. Pretty cool.

  19. A Bucs Fan Says:

@DR your experience is not anywhere near the same type of injury that Donovan sustained.

  20. MadMax Says:

Welcome back big guy but take it easy…..these are early stages….you know, they all know.

  21. Rod Munch Says:

If he makes it through practice he’s playing on Sunday. If it’s purely a pain tolerance issue, than shoot the big man up with some horse tranquilizers and wheel him out there.

  22. Goatfarmer Says:

Walton can come in as the 6th lineman next to either Donnie or Tristan. Then pull Goedeke or Mason and let Lenny run that beautiful 28 yard TD sweep..

  23. David Says:

    That would sure be nice!!
Mr. clean living Brady was yelling at Donovan in private:
“ Get the Cortizone shot, take the Percocet, I don’t care, do what you need to be out there!!!”

  24. T REX Says:

    please please please
