Playoff Lenny Steps Up

November 29th, 2021

Taking control.

Really cool insight into the behind-the-scenes locker room at halftime of yesterday’s thrilling Bucs win.

It seems last night crossword puzzle-puzzled, Elon-Musk-peeved, Barstool Sports-triggered, almond-milk-sipping, hot-dog-eating-contest-protesting, mock-draft-scowlingL.L.-Bean-wearingtennis fans’ advocate, Second Amendment abolitionistMike-Florio-arguingparrot-insensitivechewing-with-his-mouth-opensoup-gulpingCalifornia-train-romancinganti-football proliferationouthouse-admiringairline-nappingsteerage-flyingYogi Berra-worshipingurinal-picture-takingvideo-game-playingTaylor-Swift-listeningpickpocket-thwartingBucs-uniform-frowningAllie-LaForce-smittenBig-Ten-Network-hatingpedestrian-bumpingolive oil-lappingpopcorn-munchingcoffee-slurpingfried-chicken-eatingoatmeal-lovingcircle-jerking, craft-beer-chugging, cricket-watchingscone-loathingcollege football-naïvebaseball-box-score-readingNPR-honkfilthy-hotel-stayingfight-instigatingbarista-trainingBudweiser-tolerantbaseball-scorecard-keeping, pasta-feasting, vomit-dodging scrooge, Kay-Adams-following, Coors-Light-souring, pineapple-upside-down-cake-eating social activist and NFL insider Peter King of NBC Sports got Playoff Lenny on the horn.

We’ve heard how Playoff Lenny was passionate with his Bucs teammates at halftime telling them they had to ball out and, if need be, will themselves to victory.

Well, he told 17-game-loathing, salad-bar-hating, park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, smartphone-phobic, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, roller-coaster-scared, numbers-rules-peeved, helmet-tossing, football-punting, Bucs-Super-Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady more than that.

Playoff Lenny told Brady, there were only two people who were going to win the game for the Bucs: Playoff Lenny was one and the other was the quarterback Playoff Lenny was talking to.

“At halftime,” running back Leonard Fournette told me after Bucs 38, Colts 31, “I told Tom, ‘This game will end with either me or you winning it. This sh–‘s gonna end with one of us doing it.’ ”

Let’s see: 31-31, 2:41 left. Bucs ball, first-and-15 at their 31-yard line. The 6-0, 228-pound Fournette, physical, off left tackle for 11. Brady to Cameron Brate for six, then Brady to Fournette, a swing pass out of the backfield to the right for 13. Fournette busting behind the right side for eight. Chris Godwin on an end run for three. Then, from the Colts’ 28, Fournette over left tackle, with Chris Godwin his personal protector downfield knocking away a DB, for a 28-yard touchdown.

And do it Playoff Lenny did. That was such a savage AF run Joe has seen since Playoff Lenny scored a long touchdown in the Super Bowl in Feburary that pretty much iced the game, a run that the Chiefs wanted no part of.

Yesterday, the Colts very much wanted to tackle Playoff Lenny. But man, look at the blocking on that play. From the Bucs offensive line wiping out the Colts’ defensive line to Chris Godwin manhandling a Colts defensive back at the goal line.

Joe is guessing the Donovan Smith haters are hiding under the bed today.

It’s more fun when the GOAT throws 5 TD’s, but I’ll take a win

  2. SlyPirate Says:

Getting around the corner, breaking a sure tackle, running away from the LBs, and blowing up the DB for the game winning TD. Instant classic.

  3. Winny Testaverde Says:

A small part of me wanted him to go down…take a chip shot FG with no time left. It sure was an exciting play though.

  4. PassingThru Says:

Some great team blocking ahead of Fournette on that final TD: Donovan Smith swallowed the DE, Cappa pulled and took out a CB, Gronk sealed off a box safety, and Godwin provided the final touch by battering a CB into the end zone. Oh, the humanity!

  5. Gregory Miller Says:

The blocking on this play was spectacular. Godwin mandandled their DB. Love seeing how goo dour receivers are in the blocking game

  6. Perimeter Blocker Says:

Fournette qualifies for a being a badass!

  7. Casual Observer Says:

I understand Winny’s comment. I felt like that too. But what a great run.

Oneilbucs hides under the bed after ever Bucs win. On the rare occasions we lose he front and center with his hate!

  10. PSL Bob Says:

I particularly like the finish of tha play. The DB Godwin is blocking finally steps out to take a shot at 4nette and he gets blown into the end zone. Me thinks he might think differently about doing that again.

  11. LVMYBUCS Says:

ROJO ROJO ROJO!!!!!!!!!!! I love Lenny but sometime I think ROJO is faster getting to the gap and off he goes when Lenny does all this stutter stepping which gives the D time to get to him.

  12. Aceofaerospace Says:

That’s the Angry Run winner there. Bank it.

  13. RojosTears Says:

Fournette gets 4 tuddies on 131yds and Rojo truthers still crying that Rojo should be starter. You ungrateful fxcks lmao!!

  14. Swampbuc Says:

Lombardi Lenny gives me the warms. Always has.

I was not a fan of Lenny last year. But he has upped his game this season. He was very good in the playoffs last season but not in the regular season. One area he has really improved on his catching passes! He has put Gio on the bench on 3rd down with his catch and power running. Really nice turn around for Lenny. ROJO must have learned watching Lenny because he made some strong runs too. His quick burst of speed caught the defense by surprise and he ran hard as well. Hope that combo clicks the rest of the season. Wear them down with Lenny then rip them with Rojo speed later.

  16. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

RoJo would’ve ran that td in half the time! 😅🤣😂 How you like that Mr Tears???

  17. ModHairKen Says:

I guess they need to put Fournette on kickoff coverage, too. The decision to let the kicker do anything other than kick it through the window of Lucas Oil stadium was ridiculous. The special teams coach should be reevaluated.

lenny is an interesting runner because sometimes he runs hard and “big like bulldozer”…

sometimes he runs slower and pitter pats around like a dilfer…

and other times he tip toes thru thru the tulips like a ballerina…

lenny kinda has many styles to his game and if you let him become a feature back and get super comfortable in his role, and with his teammates, these many styles will become more evident…

it seems to me that lenny has really begun to like being a tampa bay buccaneer

lenny’s like an artist out there…

just call him “leonardo da tompa”
