Tom Brady On His Comfort Level With Offense

Tom Brady explains his comfort level

Man, if you are like Joe, you may not need your morning cup of coffee to wake up after reading this.

Bucs quarterback Tom Brady (it is still a little weird for Joe to type that, even after a year) was asked yesterday how smooth things are for him.

During the offseason, both Brady and Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians detailed how the playbook wasn’t opened up until the second half of the Kansas City regular season game because Brady was still learning the offense.

Well, that is no issue this summer.

“A year ago, three weeks into camp I was still trying to figure out formations,” Brady said. “What does ‘Tampa right’ mean, you know? I don’t even know what that means. Now, it just kind of rattles off your tongue.

“You get used to similar ideas and concepts, but they’re all named differently. It would kind of be like English and Spanish. You have to literally learn a different language and then really kind of learn what you’re doing. Then, you have to learn if your players can do it and then you have to study how the defense is doing things. So, there are a lot of different challenges that you face.

“I think for me this year, mentally, it’s been much better and much easier to kind of assimilate my way into camp.”

And even though Brady may not have known much of the playbook or offense early on last season, it wasn’t like the Bucs were getting clobbered. They had records of 3-1 and then 6-2 midway through the season.

With Brady now knowing the offense fully to open the season, wow! To paraphrase Curly Howard, “Joe can hardly wait!”

Anything less than 14-3 I would be disappointed. Shoot, anything less than a repeat I would be disappointed.

IT was really great to see this team play together last year. When the the defense clamps down on opposing offenses it gives a potent offence more
opportunities to excel. IMO, taking advantage of this and limiting turnovers
will aid the team’s success this year. Its been great seeing the offense actually putting the game out of reach for a change.

  3. Bird Says:

Cause all i kept hearing lately was that they changed the offense for this guy and not the former guy. Now putting guys in motion to read a defense works if you know how to read a defense . Cause play action was the same before and after

Sounding more and more that brady really had trouble with new system which makes sense as there was no real offseason nor preseason games to learn it. So they had a limited playbook to start. And Practices at a local park cant help that…(maybe some timing of receivers )

What is fun is the killer instinct that is now associated with this team! Getting a touchdown at the end of the half against the Packers has been so foreign to the Bucs! Only the Chiefs and the greatest show on turf do such things. Having the killer instinct to demoralize opponents is fun to watch. Sort of reminds me of the times when Alstot would close out games with back braking runs. Fun times indeed!

I can very much relate to what he is saying. I am old and trying to learn Spanish. I am – or I WAS – a great student. Now learning new things is soooo much harder. 🤪 After 20 years in the Pats offense, this must have been a difficult process for all of them.

We, the Bucs, are no longer Youngry, now we are BAD @SS!! I wish we had the CryBaby Chiefs – my toe, Oline, HC’s non-adjustments, bad calls – on our schedule this season. Maybe we can end there run like we did last year. 😁

Go my Bucs!! “Harry can hardly wait!”😎

If everything in the past got us to this point, then I am so glad how all unfolded. Thank you Jameis for all your pick 6s.

So this is what heaven feels like!

    Go Bucs!!!

  8. Bossman2543 Says:

Rest of the teams better show up for their games against the Bucs wearing asbestos this season.

[You actually expect Brady to say Trask sucks? C’mon man. Joe has zero opinion on Trask. If you don’t believe what Joe types about Trask from Joe’s observations, then you don’t need to visit this site. There is not and never has been a Bucs player Joe didn’t want to succeed. What kind of mental patient wants a team to succeed but for a player to fail? Besides, Trask is currently a No. 4 quarterback. It’s hard for Joe to justify more coverage for a guy you pray doesn’t get on the field when the team is full of stars fans care about. And Joe doesn’t give a damn where a guy went to school. That has absolutely nothing to do with a team’s play on the field in the NFL. Your attempted trolling here failed. — Joe]

Oooooooo Bbro!!! What did u do, WHAT DID YOU DO?! Got joe bringing that smoke in the a.m.

    Umm oneilbucs😂😂😂😂

  16. Bbro Says:

Trolling lol I was in the ol sombrero probably before you were alive. I guess your answer didn’t cover my question. I asked why don’t you post the good that Brady, Arians and other teammates say you talked him down and left it like that then skip the good. I guess you all just want to read brown nose comments.

  17. K2 Says:

We need about 500 yards and 45 points a game and a lot of WINs

Mike, Chris, AB split up 250 yards and 2-4 TDs
Gronk, OJ, Cam 125 yards 1-3 TDs
Rojo, Lenny, and Giovani 125 yards 1-3 TDs

It’s possible we see games of over 600 yards and over 50 points.

  18. Eddie Marz Says:

Can’t wait! GO BUCS! If they’re better this year, I’m all in.

  19. Jim Hodges Says:

What does Brady have left to accomplish? How about a redo of his 2007 season except he wins the last game.

  20. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Youngbucs

😂😂…,and then there’s NDog corollary… want your team to fail, while one player succeeds, while saying you’re the biggest Buc fan in history.
