Liking Joe Tryon

NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah.
Last week someone from Mike Tannenbaum’s “The 33rd Team” suggested Bucs rookie defensive end Joe Tryon was overdrafted.
The way former NFL scout and current NFL draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network seems to think, the Bucs may have gotten an underrated stud.
Jeremiah breaks down Tryon, which you can see in the NFL Network video below. Two things jump out at Joe.
The is how well Tryon sheds blocks to get to the ballcarrier. That’s pretty important. If you get eaten up by a block, you are basically taken out of a play and rendered useless.
The other thing Jeremiah likes is Tryon’s quick hands. Joe hears coaches talk about hands all the time when a lineman (offensive or defensive) wins battles in the trenches.
Let’s just say Joe trusts a former NFL scout who worked for Ozzie Newsome and Baltimore. The Crows sure have done a helluva job finding and developing defensive talent for years.

Good pick, bad pick…..don’t know…..I’ll go with the good until we know…..and bad until we know…..but….Joe Tryon is a Buc for 4 or 5 years.

Cliff Avril worked with him and is very high on his potential, per Greg Aumon. Everybody says he’s got it all physically, is a hard worker, and very coachable. Most first-rounders have proved themselves with production, but it’s strange times.

he is going to be a soft crying baby, a “me me me”, a “myself before the team” guy….that I guaranty it. Talent, yes he may have, but talent without heart, and willing to sacrifice, means not much…. fades away… 😥😥😥

Crazybucs I thought same thing about his “opt out” but his conference kinda screwed them up.. wasn’t as easy a decision as let’s say, someone on the KC Oline made before last season…

Apparently the basis of some peoples decisions are whether a guy sat out last season or not. And because a guy sits out, that player will be both a me, myself guy and a guy with no heart.
This is guaranteed. Glad that dude is not the Buc’s GM. I wish he were the Saint’s GM.

I’m going to trust Jason Licht, Bruce Arians, and the Bucs scouting department over crazybucs when it comes to Joe Tryon, as crazy as it seems.

And who knows but some of those who opted out did so in a willingness to sacrifice their career so as to protect family members who may be in poor health and at high risk of the virus.

The more I see his film, the more I like him. I know the Bucs have the right coaching staff and the right veteran leadership to give him the best chance to succeed.

I quess that he was the most impressive candidate physically who was available when the Bucs picked. The Bucs have two great vets at the position so there should be no pressure for the kid to be a starter, so he can be brought along gradually. Having great physical gifts and mostly needed in only a back up role, will benefit his development. At the very least he should be a very good backup for now but with potential to be a starter in the near future.

Seems like he was overdrafted by about 10 spots, but who knows. Not playing since 2019 is a big deal in my mind considering he doesn’t have a lot of experience, but Licht deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Watching the stupid Islanders / Bruins game and they get a packed arena – meanwhile in Tampa the Lightning are still playing in front of limited capacity. The mayor of Tampa randomly making up attendance numbers is disgraceful.
I’d bring up the Rays, but really, who cares? Playing in front of 6000 people is just a normal night for them. Meanwhile when the Lightning played that building they literally drew 24000 a game. Hell, the Tampa Bay Storm drew nearly 20000 a game in the Thunderdome. Baseball is just a dying, boring sport.

There you go! From the often off target Tannenbaum to a scout from Baltimore a team who rarely whiffed on defensive talent!! Good job Joe now theres a true assessment from one who knows how to break down an edge rushers moves. I like that hes great against the run. Seemed on those clips he was great at diagnosing exactly where the runner would end up. Another similarity to JPP!!!!

The only reason this even came up is because somehow the consensus best all around defensive end “Ronnie Perkins” slid to the third round. Tryon is the better fit in a 3/4 and no one knew Perkins would slide that far. If it was me drafting for Tampa I would have taken Christian Barmore #1 and then you had Perkins in the third at #95. We will find out soon enough if the Bucs made the right choices.
