A Call For More Tight Ends

November 10th, 2020

Masked Gronk

A beloved friend of Bucco Bruce Arians spoke out after Sunday’s Dale Mabry Disaster.

Joe’s referring to a man Arians literally used to babysit, as well as work with at CBS, former Giants running back Tiki Barber.

Barber hopped on his radio show yesterday and joined the nation in marveling at the thorough butt-kicking the Saints delivered the Bucs. Among other things, Barber explained how stunned he was that the Bucs never made a little run. No sign of life.

However, Barber is very confident the Bucs’ talent will shine through enough in the coming weeks to right the ship headed for the playoffs, as long as coaches bounce back along with players, he added.

Barber said the Bucs must resist wanting to roll too often with four or five wide receivers and need to realize that’s not Tom Brady. Against the Saints, per Barber, the Bucs “so frequently left the edges exposed” and more multiple tight end sets is a better fit for their immobile but effective QB.

Well, it certainly wasn’t a night for the tight ends, or for anyone else.

Joe agrees with Barber’s call for more protection. It remains a key to the season. Thankfully, the season wasn’t crushed last night after Brady took hit after hit in the fourth quarter for no good reason with five score deficit.

adapt, adjust, improve………this team has the capabilities.

NO they are not winning the SB, but they have time to get things right and make a run……………….that is all I ask for.

Success in 2020 is to make a solid run and set the stage for 2021

gronk couldnt block or catch sunday night…

d.smith was his usual lazy self and wirfs looked like a rookie….

obviously teams know in order to beat us, they have to get constant pressure with their 4front….beat d.smith a couple times early and he’s done for the game…

sunday was just a horrible game all around…i just hope it doesnt carry over to the panthers…

    GO BUCS!!!!!

couldn’t we play more 2 RB sets for extra protection and screens?

saying we need another TE for when we’ve already lost just doesn’t make sense to me.

We have Cam Brate, Tanner and Auclair as well. Think Brate might be due some of Gronks reps unless he can take a page from Barber on being agile and somewhat fast at this stage of his game. I think Suh could outrun him.

and anytime you’re down by that much they are T-ing off no matter if you have pro bowl TE and O line. I blame the scheme for getting them in the hole to begin with.

Same reason our stats are so good is because of big leads. T-ing off and making a team one dimensional.

I said it just before this game….in a dogfight, we are in trouble as our stats are padded by big leads and not representative of tough games.

How about more targets for Evans, and Tyler Johnson. Godwin will get his.

Clean Jersey for Tom and they make the playoffs, dirty Jersey and it is 50-50 at best game to game. Like I said before also a semblance of a defense. GO BUCS!!!!!!

    @Robert-

Of course we could play more 2 RB sets. But that would require Leftwich to actually scheme something creative and original. And unfortunately he’s completely incapable of that. Worst OC in the league. He called 1 good game this year, that’s it.

  8. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Nope….we need more left tackles…..

  9. 813bucboi Says:

    tbbf

    i agree…

wirfs just needs time…not worried about him…

d.smith has to go…our o-line depth hurt us in this game….

    GO BUCS!!!!

pathetic ! I let me wife switch to the hallmark channel at half time rather than watch this cr@p. So we watched christmas shows, lol, first time in ages I abandoned the sinking ship. I think I always hung in their with Jameis because his performance was so volatile he could suddenly start throwing touchdowns at any moment. Not that I wish Jameis was on our bench.

so glad I didn’t purchase tickets to this game. I do have tickets for the Chiefs, perhaps I should post them on stub hub ? although the chiefs don’t have the defense the saints have, we should at least be able to score some but so will they.

  12. Kenneth Mcallister Says:

I dont know what they gonna do but what ever they gonna do they need to do it quick that performance was out right embarrassing I have seen no rank college kids play better ball i been a Buck fan since 76 and they have always been a team to keep u on the edge of your seat.

  13. Akbuc Says:

Why didn’t they commit to run in the first half? Down by 2 tds in the second quarter. They should have been giving it to Jones often.

  14. Greg Says:

Kind of looking like too many chiefs and not enough Indians. Not intended to be disrespectful to anyone.
