Overdue recognition.
Joe has long been arguing Bucs linebacker Lavonte David is criminally underrated.
It is borderline unethical how David cannot make a Pro Bowl. So as David is now 30, with the end of his career much closer than the start, it seems David may be having his best year, or at least his most recognized season since the Bucs drafted him in 2012.
The Bucs are on national TV a lot this year. And because of schedule changes due to The Sickness, the Bucs game yesterday was beamed to the entire nation save for New York and Miami.
And yesterday, David balled out. Even FOX analyst and Hall of Fame defensive end Michael Strahan came to David’s defense and hailed him as “a star.”
In an NFL podcast from The Athletic, former Wisconsin quarterback Nate Tice and co-host Robert Mays discuss if David is the most underrated NFL player of his generation.
Joe maintains that if David were playing for the Bears or the Belicheats or the Giants (you know, New York) or the Steelers, someone would have already named a street after David.

do a blind comparison to Luke Kuechly’s stats. You’d think LVD has a leg up on getting into Canton first… much less the Pro Bowl!

Sadly defenders notoriety is based on team success unlike offensive players. David is awesome but he’s been wasted with being on bad defenses for so long. Hopefully his last years he can get the love he deserves

London Fletcher suffered the same fate as LVD; undersized, not a pass-rusher, bad team. Fletcher’s #’s are HOF worthy, but he may never make it.

David is exceptionally quick on the blitz. I hope they realize that and release him more.

LVD is a great player indeed………but he was never a Luke Kuechly.
What made Luke Kuechly so great was he had this innate ability to take over and could change the outcome of a game.
LVD is still really one of the best LBs in the game.

I hope the great LVD gets his wish granted: to play in the post season. He has earned it too many times to count. I have been a fan since his first preseason.

Why Luke k comparisons constantly? They don’t play the same position. They were not asked to do the same things.
And who’s complaining about his best season being 5 sacks? For years he was never asked to blitz even though he’s incredibly fast.
Between his coverage skills, sideline to sideline speed, and sheer number of tackles, he should have had multiple pro bowl’s by now

I agree completely. This dude would be the second coming of Harry Carson if he played in the northeast. The unethical, corrupt, good ole boy mentality of the media up there has kept David from the recognition that he deserves and a handful of our past players out of the hall of fame. It’s a travesty of the highest order and should be condemned and dismantled. We also have the worst winning percentage in the history of sports, so that may be coming into play as well. 😜

The only thing that has held Lavonte back is bad Defensive Coordinators. He has the best one in the league now and is thriving. Bowles has removed the cuffs and let him play. Btw Joe, Todd Bowles isn’t going anywhere. He may possibly interview but he’s the Bucs next head coach. He’s bonded with his players and will grow this team when he takes over. BA has total trust in Todd and stays out of his way. Leftwich isn’t the guy and needs more time. Bowles will be a better head coach than BA, and BA knows it. That’s why he brought him along, to take over the reigns.

If the Jets had a decent GM during Bowles tenure there, he’d still be there. Raheem has taken over the Falcons now and they will be tough the rest of the Season. Rah has paid his dues to get back on top and will fight tooth and nail to stay there.

I Like the LDV & DW’ bash-brothers handle. Joe, put that one in your moniker bag and use it often. For Bowle’s defensive schema I like ‘Blitzkrieg’. Our D has needed a cool handle for so long. Blitzkrieg works for me.

According to a certain poster that has been absent (banned?) for a while now, LVD is a mentally weak leader of the losing culture. Glad I don’t have to read that every day any more.
