“Godfather” Gives Props To Team Glazer

One of the greatest NFL front office suits salutes the Bucs.
A guy who has on his resume building one of the greatest NFL dynasties has stood up and is clapping his hands in honor of Team Glazer.
Gil Brandt, affectionately known on SiriusXM NFL Radio as “The Godfather,” the architect of the great Dallas Cowboys teams of the 1960s and 1970s, took to Twitter last night and stated Team Glazer made a smart move retaining Dirk Koetter for the 2018 season.
@Gil_Brandt: Bucs did right thing. Too many teams change coaches like they change their socks. On related note, its my understanding coach whose name rhymes with Juan Bruden wanted @jimmykimmel money.
Part of Brandt’s happiness for Koetter may be that the two go back a long way.
At one time when Koetter was a low-paid assistant coach at UTEP, he wrote scouting reports of college players for Brandt when Brandt was still with the Cowboys, in order to help make ends meet.
One rumor Joe heard — no way to substantiate it — was Chucky wanted $10 million a year from Team Glazer — and no, Joe doesn’t buy for one second Chucky or his representatives never spoke with Team Glazer about coaching the Bucs. Now we learn Mark Davis of the Raiders is floating a piece of the Raiders for Chucky to return. Just FYI, one percent of the Raiders is estimated to be $23 million.
Yeah, Joe can understand if owning a piece of an NFL team just might lure a guy away from a gig where he is being paid some $6 million a year.

I think the Glazer’s would’ve paid the 10 million. Davis upped the anti, and as a Godfather should know, made Gruden an offer he couldn’t refuse. I can see Gruden talking Del Rio into stay on as his D.C., asst head coach, nice situation like when he came here with Kiffen. Gruden will have Carr, Cooper, good talent, and he’d love Beast Mode. Del Rio can work the defense, what out for Raiders.

If Gruden ends up with the Raiders this will be up there with the largest Buccaneer mistakes in history. (Doug Williams, Steve Young, Bo Jackson etc) Gruden as part owner of the Bucs would be a great idea! Look how these owners have performed since firing Gruden! It would be nice to have a football person overseeing football matters that actually has had success. How do I know Iāll see Gruden come in here with another team and mop us up???!!! Btw what coaches are going to come here for 1 season to try and help Koetter? Coaches have families. They wonāt want 1 and done. Iām so sick of being shouted down in my own stadium by opposing fans. Have you guys ever heard Gil on Sirius XM? It’s like listening to your “dotard” grandpa talking about his prostate operation. He’s pushing 85 and he gets confused in mid-sentence. He can’t go two minutes without mistaking a player or coach’s name. Just the other day he was saying how great Drew Brees was as Falcons QB. He might have a great history but I’ll bet you he can’t even remember it.

So the Bucs did a good job cause even if the coach sucks he should be given at least 3 years to prove how good/bad coach he is? Brandt is a tool or maybe he has a mental disease.
I don’t be looking just at the record when evaluating the HC. A team can ne good and have a not so good looking record based on injuries, bad luck, etc. The thing with Koetter and Smith was that after the NE game teams started playing us differently and they hava failed to adjust, even against crappy teams that’s why I wanted him gone

You say you don’t look at records when evaluating HC because their could be injuries etc. Then you proceed to say you want koetter gone. Did you not see the many injuries/bad luck this team has endured this year all while staying very competitive in every game but two? Too funny.

Bucs need to pursue Jack Del Rio or Marin Lewis for the DC position that (hopefully) becomes available.
If neither of those guys come than PROMOTE Jay Hayes. I’m telling you this team is ONE….ONE draft away and a DC from being dominant. Take the heat of of Jameis with a defense that can be just average, just 15th ranked rather than 32 pass and 24th rush. Average defense and this team will be winning games.
I just hope Licht talks to Grimes agent and convinces him to stay. Hargreaves plays well in man coverage. Get another corner, two pass rushers and a center, move MArpet back to guard, a RB to compete with Barber ( bye doug ) and a kicker to compete with Murray.

Joes, I don’t like any advertisements- ever, however, it’s nice to see Lakeland Magic ads. I wasn’t sure if folks on the west coast even knew they existed (I didn’t until about a month ago) and I live hear in FLakeland.

FYI, Chucky had 5-11 and 4-12 campaigns with the Bucs. Easy to forget that when you’ve fallen in love with nostalgia.
Dirk Koetter is still the same coach that inspired the stick carriers and went 9-7 in his first year. Sometimes bad years happen. He hasn’t shown himself to be incompetent like Lovie. Get a new DC in place, and some pass rush talent, and this team will be ready to go. It’s super-easy to criticize everything when things aren’t going well.

And the few games he did suit up – he was used as a decoy. But speaking of rejuvenation. We can add both – Galloway & Bryant to long list of offensive players; Gruden brought back from the dead.

Father time eventually catches up to us all.
Joey Galloway was no exception. The 2007 season was his last productive season in the league. Even after the injury plagued 2008 season. He never posted more than 15 catches or 200 yds receiving – the following 3yrs of his career.

You can try and re-write history all you want, but the truth is you would be wrong. Galloway was hurt to start the season and gruden decided not to play him when he became healthy because in his words “they both played the same position.” While galloway may have lost a step, he was still better than clayton and whoever else lined up opposite of bryant. No, there were rumors of gruden fallen out of favor with galloway (like many other players). This is the same guru that barely gave alstott the ball as well and preferred pittman because he “fit” the scheme better. Again you can try to re-write history all you want to but you will still be wrong. There was a reason why he was fired and his drafts were a big part of that as well. Lay off the crack.

And if you think a player went from a 1000 yrd 6 td receiver to a 138 yard receiver the next is the very definition of re-writing history. The entire tampa fan base and media all wondered aloud about the joey galloway situation. Galloway did not have a number 2 wr during his best years here. The bucs finally found one and gruden refused to put him on the field. I am sorry you forgot about the optimism we felt because we had a good record, a productive bryant and a healthy galloway on the way. It never happened because “they played the same position.”

Go and google and all of the articles of gruden saying i cant put galloway and bryant on the field at the same time. I can pull up stats/articles this year of mccoy, david etc not being healthy but they still played because they were hurt but not injured. Again, galloway may have been hurt but not injured. Koetter it’s the HC not the OC it’s his responsibility to have the team ready, besides if we had scored TD’s instead of going for FG’s we would have won those games including the alleged closed ones we lost. You can come up with all the excuses you want but if he was a good HC you wouldn’t need to defend him.
