High Honor For Ira Kaufman

October 4th, 2017

“The Sage” is honored by Google Play.

Joe often refers to the booming JoeBucsFan.com Podcast Network, featuring 10 episodes/shows per week from seven hosts/co-hosts.

It’s no joke. Heck, the podcasts’ popularity and influence got Joe kicked off local sports radio.

And now the nation is taking notice.

Google Play has “Top Charts,” a national internal ranking of podcasts heard in their platform covering all subjects and genres. And ranked No. 36 in the nation (for two consecutive days) is the “Ira Kaufman Podcast,” featuring the sage of Tampa Bay sports, JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman.

For those wondering, that places Ira’s podcast three slots ahead of “This Week With George Stephanopoulos,” of ABC News, and one slot behind renowned podcast “The Fighter & The Kid,” featuring UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub and actor/comedian Bryan Callen. Ira also is ahead of other big names.

Hey Peter King, where the hell are you?

Kudos to Ed Morse Cadillac Tampa and Ed Morse Cadillac Brandon for sponsoring all of Ira’s work on JoeBucsFan.com.

Ira’s rise is no surprise. He’s one of the most popular guests on SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio (Wednesdays at 5 p.m.), and getting out of the shackles of corporate journalism has brought out the best in him.

    Congrats, Ira!

  2. Buc4Lyfe79 Says:

Congrats to Ira, but George Stephanopoulos of the Always Bullspit Conjecture network, really Joe? How can you compare the Sage of Tampa Bay Sports who deals in facts and well rounded opinions with a lapdog of spin?

  3. Pickgrin Says:

Meanwhile – local sports radio is officially dead.

I stupidly tuned into 620 for awhile on Monday afternoon while driving – and the little poodle was loathe to even talk about the Bucs big win over the Giants the previous day.

Yes – Steve D. was more interested – right out the gate from 3pm on – in talking about golf and hockey than the big Buccaneers win. SMH

Newsflash little poodle – this is a FOOTBALL TOWN… Nobody wants to hear your self aggrandizing opinions about golf and horseracing and betting odds during football season.

  4. EasyTheGreat Says:

Sage of Tampa Bay, Irv knows how to shine!!!!

  5. BucTrooper Says:

I think it’s telling that local sports beats George Stephanopolus.

  6. C eh N eh D eh Says:

Ira is awesome and knows his football!!! Cheers from Canada’s biggest Bucs fan!

  7. Wright in Montana Says:

    Pickgrin,

Tampa cares about hockey a lot and the season starts in two days, IMO it’s a hockey town too. I share you opinion about golf though, WHO CARES. Go Bucs, Go Bolts!

  8. Buc believer Says:

If I was the GM of a radio station and I had a personality on the air who constantly mispronounces words (been doing that for years) and does not talk about relevant matters and the worst part leaves the show in the middle of the opening monologue I think I would be saying to such personality that “thank you your services are no longer wanted or needed. I have purposely not used the offending parties name because such person and Joe are very good friends.
    Woof Woof

  9. TonyC Says:

To the Sage of TB congrats. Really love listening to your podcast. Your style can’t be emulated.BTW I was friends with Chris Russo in college and he would always ask me (I was the station manager at Rollins College radio and he did play by play for Rollins baseball) if he had the voice and delivery to make it in sports and I always told him “slow down Chris, slow down.”

  10. Warrenfb12 Says:

Peter King sucks. His MMQB column is mostly the Work of more talented writers and journalists

  11. CautiousOptimism Says:

Good podcast but not enough Ira and too much of the guy that laughs at his own jokes!

  12. ClodHopper Says:

Much deserved and totally earned. It’s an informative AND entertaining podcast. Great job guys!!

  13. Garv Says:

Ira brings expert commentary along with a great and contagious sense of humor. The back and forth between Ira, Steve and Lee is as entertaining as it is informative. Fist pumping fun twice a week! Thanks and a hat tip!

  14. Steve in Mad Beach Says:

CautiousOptimism do you just wander around through life trying to be a giant douche? You’re not a fan of the team, you’re just looking for a forum to bitch and complain because your life sucks!

Hopefully this intervention gives you a chance to reflect on your negativity, because you are the farthest thing from optimism, cautious or not. I’d respect you more if you just did us all a favor and changed your name to MiserableNegativePrick!

As far as the podcast; it’s my favorite thing to listen to period.
Keep up the good work guys!

  15. mike n Says:

Congrats Ira! Tampa is lucky to have you.

  16. Buccan8 Says:

Hope Ira celebrates with a well-deserved beer salad for this. I’ll be raising a glass of Riesling in his honor if he cracks the top 25!

    TonyC–that’s a great story!!

  17. Buccan8 Says:

It’s also apparently too early for me to spell *beet* correctly!

  18. CautiousOptimism Says:

Hey Steve, are you the chief of positivity police around these parts? Is that an elected or appointed position?
I have an opinion about this topic and others. If you don’t like it let’s talk. If you just want to name call and demand positivity that’s cool too I guess. Free country tough guy.

  19. Steve in Mad Beach Says:

I respect that you didn’t come back at me all butt hurt. I can appreciate that

  20. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Looks to me like Steve in Mad Beach is the douche.

I don’t care for the negativity either, and I imagine it must adversely affect the traffic here when it pops up, but there is no need for you to jump in and behave like that.

Keep things civil, or chose another username again so you can hide some more.

  21. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

A bit off topic…did anyone watch the latest Jameis Winston Press Conference on the Bucs website?

Jameis had to either pee real bad, or he was on something. He could not sit still at all. It was more than hype. Maybe he overdosed on caffeine or something, but he looked like he wanted to make a dash to the little boys room.

  22. Kelvin Says:

Well deserved Ira. I never miss an episode. #1 fan in the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 for a long time. Keep the good work!

  23. Pete Mitchell Says:

Joes podcasts have definitely taken my ears of of 620. I usually catch both of Iras podcasts, the Monday Joe, and usually at least one of the Bucs uncensored podcasts.

My drive into work isn’t long enough to catch a whole episode so I like being able to pick up where I left off.

I do miss the JBF hour with Duemig, the back and forth was pretty good and the takes were usually strong. If Duemig ever decides to step away from the everyday drive time, He could have three or four podcasts a week that would be terrific. Maybe a solo on Monday, a show with the Joe’s, a show with Mr. Brooks, and a show with Chris Laundry.

  24. Steve in Mad Beach Says:

Relax Bonzai, I know that you’re secretly Lovie Smith.

    Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone!

  25. Wausa Says:

Being from the South I don’t always understand his Brooklyn Colloquialism, but he does a great pod cast.
It’s informative, funny and insightful. I’m glad it’s doing so well.

  26. Dave Says:

Some of you are naive to think people in FL don’t want to hear about Golf.
Tampa sports talk should Bucs, lightning, rays, golf and college football.

I don’t get you people who have to trash other sports because you’re a football fan. Idiotic.

    Go Bucs!
    Go Lightning!

  27. Capt.Tim Says:

    Congrats Ira- well deserved

  28. Stud Says:

I thought you guys got kicked off of 620 for the Bucs Uncensored cursing and screaming podcast not Ira’s podcast…

Congrats Ira! Great listen now that we don’t have to hear the Joes insisting that Martin won’t make the team ha ha ha ha hahahahaha

  29. DrHoagy Says:

I would first like to say congrats to Ira. Now I need to ask how this topic became an opportunity to blast the Big Dog. I haven’t listened to the guy for years, never felt the need to defend him, but kicking a man when he is down due to his battle with Brain Cancer is a low as it gets. If you don’t like him, don’t listen. Listen to the podcasts and be fat, dumb, and happy.
    Yes, it’s that simple.

  30. orlbucfan Says:

Kudos to Hey Joes and Ira! 🙂 It’s sports, and golf is considered a sport. It might be played by hoity-toity snowbirds. So be it. No one is forced to listen. I sure don’t! Wish I could get a feel about the game tomorrow night. Don’t like neither Beli-cheat nor Brady. Would love to see the DK offense full flower.

  31. Joe Says:

I thought you guys got kicked off of 620 for the Bucs Uncensored cursing and screaming podcast not Ira’s podcast…

    It was/is a dubious claim.

  32. Joe Says:

Thanks for all the kind words guys. Much appreciated!

As for Steve Duemig, he’s a friend of Joe’s and Joe will always be indebted to him for his support. Steve brings listeners to his station and more importantly, advertisers treasure his listeners and that is what it is all about: benjamins.

Non-NPR radio stations (which are bankrolled by you and Joe) are all about revenue.

  33. Joe Says:

Jameis had to either pee real bad, or he was on something. He could not sit still at all.

    That’s just Jameis. 🙂

  34. TampaTown Says:

If I’m in the car at 3pm I turn on 1040am with Rock Riley. He’s always talking football.

  35. InJameisWeTrust Says:

Imagine how good the numbers would be if you uploaded it in a timely manner
Actually, the numbers are better when Joe does NOT upload it in the early a.m. Sorry, Joe’s a data junkie when it’s not football.–Joe

  36. Herb Says:

Congrats, Ira. I would guess it’s only a matter of time before you move on to bigger and better things.

  37. unbelievable Says:

    Congrats Ira! (And the Joe’s!)

It’s by far my favorite Bucs related feature each week! The scuttle Bucs and Monday morning joe are also real good!

Keep up the good work boys!

Also, Lol at people so deeply brainwashed in denial they think abc is nothing but spin. ~vibes~

  38. BartButtplug Says:

His name is not Ira Kuafman. His real name is Andrew Zimmern and he hosts a show called “Bizarre Foods.” He is posing as a sports writer.

  39. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Steve in Mad Beach Says
“Relax Bonzai, I know that you’re secretly Lovie Smith.

    Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone!”

I’m surprised you could speak with all that crap coming out of your mouth.

Hiding behind a new username are we? Coward.
