Forecasting The Schedule

May 11th, 2017

It’s fun, albeit a bit irresponsible, to go through each and every game and claim what the Bucs’ record will be at the end of the season.

It’s one thing for a fan to do it, it’s quite another for two former NFL players to try their luck. And so it was on NFL Network, where LaDainian Tomlinson and Shaun O’Hara took a look at the 2017 Bucs schedule to see how the season may unfold.

In a three-game, October stretch, the Bucs have games against the Giants at home, the Belicheats at home, and then the Cardinals on the road.

O’Hara is of the mind that three-game stretch will be Tampa Bay’s hardest of the season, and the game at Arizona may be the biggest game of the young career of America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.

How far off are the two in their stabs in the dark?

I believe we can beat Patriots , only problem is short week after Giants.

  6. Magic Marpet Says:

Careful, Mick. 19-0 is a trademark of the New England patriots sir. They aren’t scared to sue.

  7. Cobraboy Says:

    @ Pawel:

Short week for the ‘Cheats, too, and THEY have to go on the road…

I like the odds in that one. A win would be a massive confidence and swagger booster…

  8. bucNation Says:

i’m not worried about the whole schedule i’m worried about miami who knows what’s going to happen we don’t play a single division game until wk 8 so our division might look a lot different before we even play a single game i think the best thing to do is not worry about the whole schedule and just take it a week at a time

  9. Stpetebucsfan Says:

11-5 with a post season trip to Minny.

I think this team has an excellent chance of getting better as the season progresses. By playoff time we’ll be “that” dangerous team that no other team wishes to face…not even the favorites.

  10. Mike Johnson Says:

Due to the HBO distraction..For now..I’m sayin 8-8. UNLESS..we come out of the gate quickly with at leat 5 wins the 1st 8 games.

  11. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

8-8 or 9-7 basically is what I got, the 100 degree weather down in miami the first game is going to be a tough one that should set the tone for the year, ice cream man needs to set it up for the whole year

  12. LargoBuc Says:

The first four games of the season are @mia, chi, @min, nyg. Of those four I think the hardest game will be @min. They have alot of speed on defense and they can generate pressure with their front four. And oh yeah its at their house too. Our defense has to show and not let Sam Bradford carve them up. Then vs nyg those guys are overrated. Eli struggles with his accuracy and their oline allows alot of pressure. I say blitz the hell out of Eli and take your chances with Grimes one on one against the punk. I do however respect their dline, one of the few that are good enough to counter Dallas in the trenches. But their back seven is barren sans Apple and Collins. We should get the ball to DJax and Sims and force their linebackers to tackle.
Next four is ne, @ari, @buf, car. I think highly of this team but even I need to see them compete vs the Belicheats before I believe they can beat them. @ari will be huge. Ten days to prepare, there is no way we should get beat by them the way we did last year. Carson Palmer is struggling with his accuracy and all the vertical routes they run makes him vulnerable to get hit. Though David Johnson is a beast and can keep defenses off balance so idk. It’s going to be tough going into the desert and stoping that. Plus their defense can matchup with us with Peterson, Mathieu, Jones and now Reddick. Then @buf has to be a win regardless of where its played. And finally a division game vs car. Our playmakers should school their secondary. And Cam dosent scare me. Assign Kwon to be his “babysitter” and dont give their crappy receivers anywhere to get open. Just dont let them set the tempo with their running game and we should win.
Next four @no, nyj, bye week 11 then @atl, @gb. @no scares me a bit. They were wise to sign AP and give Brees a running game to lean on as we’ve seen that he can no longer carry the offense. So that has me concerned. Brees is dangerous enough. But Brees with a “security blanket” is lethal. We better score and mske it a shootout. BTW I think the Saints made a mistake taking Lattimore over Humphery. His hamstrings are going to snap trying to keep up with DJax. Okay so vs the Jets should be a win as I predict they finish with the top pick in the draft. Then we get two weeks to prepare for the Falcons. Screw them. We have proven we matchup favorably with them. We can sweep them. As for thst early December trip to Green Bay, well if we want to be a playoff team we have to prove we can play in the cold. But outside of ARod, the Pack dosen’t scare me. That is not a good team. And it’s getting more difficult every year for ARod to carry the load. And our playmakers should light up that garbage back seven. So really, if the Bucs are who I think, they won’t allow one guy to beat them.
Finally we close with det, atl on MNF, @car, no. If we are a playoff team we got to beat det at home. Then we have a chance to sweep atl on national television and show the country the the Buccaneersare superior to the Falcons, suck it! @car and no should both be wins to and I think we have a good chance to end the year 4-0.
Thank you joebucsfan for giving me a place to vent all of my bucs fandom!

  16. Vico Says:

    10-6

  17. Rod Munch Says:

I have them at 10-6, a different path to get there but the same result. That week one Miami game – it’s going to be in the mud on a wet field I think – those just giving an automatic win… I’m not so sure. I do think the Bucs come out fired up for that Pats game and get a W however. There’s some other differences but the same result.

  18. K2 Says:

    10-6

I’m with StPete at least 11-5. Tampa Bay all the way!

  24. JimmyJack Says:

Gonna need Winston to pull off 1 or more game winning 2minute drives. With the additions on offense I expect it to happen when we need it.

Winston has not been able to get one yet

    Yo troll! Go somewhere else.
Largo is known round these parts. And you are? ….
Anyway troll I read it. Very fun read IF your a BUCS fan. And you didn’t even make a guess… You know, what the article IS based on. As$clown

  26. 813bucboi Says:

Due to the HBO distraction..For now..I’m sayin 8-8.

why are people so afraid of HARD KNOCKS….the main reason why all those team flopped after hosting HK was mostly due to the fact that they didn’t have a franchise QB…..and if they did, they didn’t have one of Winston’s caliber….stop being scared!!!!…Winston and kwon would be ashamed of this fans base with the lack of confidence some of you display…..GO BUCS!!!!

  27. Bucsfanman Says:

    …WITH THAT SAID, 16-0!!!!

  28. Eric Says:

I’m gonna say 9-7 again but it gets us in to the playoffs. I sincerely believe we can be 14-2 but im being cautiously optimistic.

Last time I thought we were playoff bound we went 2-14 with lovie. Even Herm Edwards had us winning the super bowl. So I don’t want to set myself up to be disappointed.

  29. Buccfan37 Says:

At least everybody has plenty of time to adjust their guesses.

  30. JimmyJack Says:

This defense needs to come out of the gates ready to roll. I’ll give them a Mulligan for looking lost a few times at the beginning of last season since it was the first year under Mike Smith.

No excuses this year. We start off with 3 cupcake teams. This team should be hungry to start 3-0 which will set them up for a couple of statement games.

And if we get caught up in a tight game Winston gonna need to finally deliver if he has the ball and one drive to win the game

  31. LargoBuc Says:

    Thank you whatdabuc!

  32. LifeOfABucFan Says:

    11-5..playoffs win…not SB yet..but the beginning of a dynasty..

    Hahaha troll?

Ok I’ve been a bucs fan since 1987 little man.

    How old are you?

I don’t care who largobuc is or how well known he is on a blog lol

Way too long most people aren’t gonna read a post that long.

So go eat your chicken nuggets and shut up.

  34. LargoBuc Says:

Well change, thanks for letting us all know that you did not in fact read my post. If it’s too long for you then so be it. But to comment that you did not read it dosent really add anything to the discussion. If its too long for you to read, why not just keep scrolling and actually add something worthwhile to the thread.

  35. Fred E. Bucs Says:

Dang, that will be a tough three game run. Not to mention that flight back from Phoenix Monday after a shellacking last September was rough on the nerves of many of us Bucs fans who went…couldn’t get the gear down…several passes and emergency procedures, finally went into crash (kiss-yo-own-A) mode, all that. Not surprising the trip ended like that. Hopefully we take one in the desert this year! Think we’ll go to Minneapolis instead this time.

  36. Kelly Pearson Says:

The difference between 6-10 and 10-6 is razor thin. You need good health first and foremost. then, add a dash of luck and a few breaks and you make playoffs.

  37. NFLNut Says:

Vegas has the Bucs as UNDERDOGS in all but 5 games I think … they’ve got us going 5-11? Come on man! That’s stupid.

I say 10-6 AND a playoff spot or bust!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  38. tmaxcon Says:

8-8 with mccoy and 12-4 if he is on IR by week 4

  39. Gilhealy Says:

tmax, you’re killin’ me. 12-4 minimum. Could be better than that if healthy for the most part. You can bet J money is gonna be working with the fellas non stop. When those cats get on the same page, which I think will be sooner than later, watch out. I think the D is gonna ball out as well. We just simply have that swag. Win early on and the season is gonna be special.

  40. Larry Says:

Actually, I enjoyed LargoBuc’s post even if I didn’t agree with a lot of it. The Trolls are those who criticize before reading it.

  41. Fred E. Bucs Says:

16-0. Never go into a single game anticipating defeat. Don’t fall for it. It’s a defeatist attitude. Will to win them all. Will they? Odds are, no. But with 16 games and some guys are giving up half of them before they put on a helmet…nutty. I’d rather expect a win and be disappointed and re-assess, than expect a loss, get a win, and not get better from it.

  42. JJ813HeadBusta Says:

  43. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    14-5

That’s 11-5 during regular season, then all the way to the Superbowl. I hope.

(Is it my official prediction? Nope. Just wishful thinking!

  44. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Fred E. Bucs Says
“16-0. Never go into a single game anticipating defeat.”

Sure…if you live in lala land. All you do is set yourself up for disappointment that way, because it is next to impossible. Predict a more realistic record…just don’t predict which games are the losses.

Your way causes the team to fall short every year.

  45. Fred E. Bucs Says:

Bonzai…the way I see it is your way leads to accepting failure vice dealing with it.
