Zac Robinson Believes Bucs’ Offensive Line Beginning To Heat Up
October 16th, 2026
Zac Robinson thinks the offensive line is turning the corner.
If a team has a decent offensive line, it should get better as the season grows older.
And to hear Bucs offensive coordinator Zac Robinson yesterday at One Buc Palace, that appears to be happening for the Bucs’ front line.
“There are certain instances where it has looked good throughout the course of the season and then we’ve hurt ourselves – or killed ourselves, really – with some penalties,” Robinson said. “That was even the theme [at Dallas], we just overcame them.
“When we’re able to stack plays and stack drives like that where we’re running the football, we are definitely a better offense [and] a better team. So yeah, those guys, they’ve had success together running the football.”
There has been a ton of foot-stomping and hollering about the Bucs’ offensive line through the first five games. Joe has seen where advanced stat heads have tried to argue that the offensive line wasn’t an issue. But it was quarterback Baker Mayfield holding onto the ball too long that hung the offensive line out to dry.
Robinson seemed to suggest the starting five missing so much time together was the culprit for the slow start.
“Obviously, they didn’t play much together at all last season, but those guys are kind of getting back into the flow of the season,” Robinson said. “[With] offensive line play, those guys have to be so well coordinated together, and I thought that was reflective of Thursday.
“We’ll keep rolling with those guys knowing that is a strength of our offense.”
Joe’s not so sure the long layoff (January 2025) was as much an issue as the Bucs were learning a new scheme and blocking technique. And Joe could argue maybe what Robinson is wanting to run isn’t exactly the perfect fit.
Dallas’ defense is rotten to the core so the Bucs should have been able to run the ball, even if an undrafted rookie at quarterback was an automatic tell to the Cowboys that the Bucs were going to stick to the ground.
Running on Dallas is one thing. Running on T.J. Watt and the mighty Steelers is quite another.

Remember when Zac Robinson absolutely and habitually SHREDDED Todd Bowles defenses? I wish he could do that to other teams, too.

It takes time for 300+ offensive linemen to get their lower body strength back after suffering leg injuries.
Brederson and Mauch are still healing.
If they can return to full strength, our offensive line will get much better.
Wirfs is also still getting back into game shape.
I know we can win the next 3 games can get back to 4-4.
At 4-4, anything is possible.
Go Bucs!

Watched the all-22 after those first few games, ALways these bland, slow-developing patterns with the opposing team playing tight man. Dude has to find a way to combat that

Waiting for Joe to highlight the part of the presser where ZRob is asked about the Tez Johnson catch and he throws Baker under the bus entirely for missed opportunities.

Z-Rob wasted time in camp by installing the wide zone despite Coen finding it didn’t fit our OL. Running more gap is helping the run game.
The pass blocking is the bigger issue with holding by the OL when Baker is holding the ball looking for Z-Rob’s deep throws. Defenses have been running stunts and the OL communication is poor in picking up the stunts. Quicker throws are needed, and where is the screen game !!!!! The OL is great in the screen game, play to your strengths.
