The Loaf Party On Bucky Irving’s Big Run; And Love For Jalon Daniels

October 12th, 2026

During Friday’s JoeBucsFan Show on WDAE radio, Joe referenced the eye-popping loafing by the Cowboys on Bucky Irving’s big 72-yard run to jolt the Cowboys on Thursday.

A Super Bowl champion and former Buccaneer saw the same thing.

Joe is a big fan of Aqib Talib the analyst. The five-time Pro Bowl cornerback may be straightest of straight shooters. Nowadays, Talib is breaking down the NFL with Skip Bayless on Gridiron.

That Irving run? It appalled Talib from a defensive perspective. He called out Cowboys defensive tackles Kenny Clark and Quinnen Williams, for loafing, and another player.

“They all rushed up field and then watched and then sped up again; a change of speed is a loaf,” Talib said. “All three of them loafed on the 72-yarder.”

Talib railed on the Cowboys for not setting the edge on the play and more poor technique and bad attitude: “Ain’t nobody even blocked [safety Malik] Hooker, he just diving and don’t make the tackle… This is a mentality issue to me, not a playcalling issue.”

Joe shared that because it’s probably important for Bucs fans to realize just how sad the Cowboys defense was/is.

On the flip side, count Talib among those on the Jalon Daniels bandwagon. Like the Bucs’ backup QB, Talib went to the University of Kansas.

“I gotta shout out my dawg Jalon Daniels. Go get you dub on the road; I thought he played a solid-ass game,” Talib said of Daniels. “He used his legs. He extended plays on third down. Sh*t, he protected the ball. That’s major on the road for an undrafted guy; that’s major for a veteran.

“He made two big-time throws, man, that third-down throw to Emeka Egbuka … and then the second one was his second read, came back and saw Daron Bland’s ass on the ground and found Tez Johnson deep. That was another great pass from him. Two big throws in the whole game, everything else just nice and neat. Hey man, that’s how you go get a dub on the road.”

It’s nice to be on the receiving end of an opponent playing without urgency.

    DON’T
    Over use Bucky !
We have 2 other capable running backs and they all have something different.

  2. Tampa2ATL Says:

Zack better put on thinking cap as it won’t be so easy this week. Or next. In fact, it will only get more difficult.

You only get so many opportunities in life, my friend. Seize the moment.

  3. StretchOMatic Says:

About 70% of players loaf in the NFL. The ones who don’t are usually the rookies who haven’t got their “bag” yet, along with QB’s and kickers. If kickers don’t perform, they are gone.

  4. Crickett Baker Says:

I say go with the hot feet until it looks like they’re getting cold.

  5. FLBoyInDallas Says:

Let’s not forget that the game was about to be tied when the receiver let the ball doink him right in the forehead and Anzalone got a gift (not skill).

This is NOT a good team and is FAR from turned around. Why all the sudden amnesia from a lucky win against a Cowboys team that is far worse than they usually are this year?

Bowles is still Bowles. We will see that the rest of the way. My hopes have not changed even 1%. This will be a top ten draft pick type of team by season’s end. Bank it.

    @ Flygurl..Please fly away!

  7. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Not sure we should be talking about ANY other teams’ loafers when we have our fair share, that is when they aren’t getting penalized.

  8. SB~LV 🏈 Says:

    They all loaf !
Their loafers are better than our loafers
    🙃

Nothing lucky about the win. The Bucs beat the hell out of the Cowboys on the offensive and defensive lines. That’s not my opinion, that’s what Geriatric Jerry(Jones) is quoted as saying to the media, google it.
Dallas had the highest scoring offense with one of the best tandem of receivers in the NFL, and (supposedly) incompetent Todd Bowles shut them down.
It’s not the Bucs fault that Dallas’s defense sucks, or Dak looked like crap or his receivers can’t catch, the Bucs exposed a team some had picked to be a Super Bowl contender.
And I don’t care if Bland dropped what could have been a pick six, or fell after Tez broke his ankles, it’s coulda, woulda, shoulda…. Bland didn’t make the plays.

I can make the case that if every play was blocked/ executed perfectly it would be a touchdown, or if the defensive backs play the receiver perfectly they will intercept every pass, but neither happens on a routine basis so the “coulda- woulda-shoulda” can be used on every single play in every singe game.

Maybe the Bucs don’t win another game this year, but on 10/8/2026 the Bucs humiliated a 9.5 point favorite Dallas team at Jerry’s World. That’s not coulda- woulda shoulda, that’s a fact.

  10. Bartow Buc Says:

Let’s also not forget how Dak had no idea what to do with the football with the Bucs defense flying at him !!
Dak is not the quarterback everyone makes him out to be !!

    Go Bucs !!

    Run Bucky run!

  12. Oldbucsfan Says:

Tucker is not just a “power back”, he’s also the fastest guy on our team. The man is very dangerous with ball in his hands in every aspect. Yet I’m afraid they gonna run bucky into the ground, keep the man’s legs and body as fresh as possible. Tucker is just as capable, and even more dangerous in the open field, he can actually outrun guys all the way to the in zone, and not get easily run down by some slow linebacker.

  13. Not a good look Says:

I wish our loafs last season were just a brief change of speed. We were straight up loafing and never even downshifted again once we slowed up/down. It was just coasting.

  14. SB~LV 🏈 Says:

    Bowels is loafing…

  15. Let em bake Says:

Btw… Evans. IMO, it was about targets. Look how many balls he got yesterday . He’d never get that volume here with cg,ee, etc.

  16. Defense Rules Says:

‘Joe shared that because it’s probably important for Bucs fans to realize just how sad the Cowboys defense was/is.’

You’ve been beating that drum since Sunday Joseph, and I’m unsure why. Both our offense & defense played decent in that game. What turned it was the turnovers & the TOP.

1 – Cowboys had THREE turnovers to ZERO turnovers for the Bucs. Kudos to the Bucs’ defense for making those takeaways; boo on the Cowboys’ OFFENSE (not their defense) for making those giveaways. And kudos to our offense for scoring 10 points off those turnovers.

2 – Bucs’ OFFENSE held onto the ball for over 39 minutes TOP, despite a ridiculous 14 penalties (Bucs’ OLine had 7 penalties all by themselves). We probably would’ve scored more or maybe had an even higher TOP if we hadn’t committed so many penalties. Those 14 penalties weren’t on the Cowboy’s defense, they were against us.

  17. GMC hater Says:

Zac Robinson should send flower baskets to Dallas defenders they played awful. Making his offense look good is an accomplishment.

  18. Bucnjim Says:

I don’t want to take away the Bucs effort because that is what I was looking for. The Bucs will need to win a few of those games on the road as underdogs if they expect to get back into the race for the division. We will see this week because the Steelers D is way better than the Cowboys and their offense is at least efficient.

  19. JimBobBuc Says:

Like @Bucnjim says, the Steelers defense is way better than Dallas’. They shut down Jonathan Taylor (45yds), forced 3 turnovers, and were stingy in the red zone. Bucky will have a huge challenge running the ball behind our OL – who alternated between penalties and missed blocks against Dallas.

  20. Woodman Says:

Rain or shine always someone on here crying about Tucker. What has he done in 3yrs with us ? They see him every day. If he were that good they wold see it not to mention he just had a chance from inside the 1 yd line and what happen ? Stop crying about Tucker we have plenty of issues with out worrying about how many carries Tucker gets . Enough?

  21. FLBoyInDallas Says:

Can’t wait for the draft. My popcorn will be cold by then, though. Oh well.

    ^^^^^^^^^^

Do you actually think Bowles/Robinson are smart enough to know this?

  23. SummerofGeorge Says:

Every morning when I drop a loaf after my morning coffee I look into the bowl and say, “Hey Todd nice work!”

  24. Bartow Buc Says:

Well I guess we should send flower baskets to the Dallas Oline too. Because the Bucs Defense absolutely blew them up.

The game was won in the trenches on both sides of the ball !!

    Go Bucs !!
