“Stellar” Bucky Irving

October 11th, 2026

Bucky Irving prepares to make a move against Dallas.

Do the Bucs win that game in Dallas on Thursday night without Bucky Irving? Unlikely.

Bucky had a big night at a perfect time. Bucky being able to carry the mail sure kept a load of pressure off rookie Jalon Daniels making his second start of his career, on national streaming no less.

Grant Gordon of NFL.com had cool intel about Bucky. Per NextGen Stats, on Bucky’s 72-yard run, the second-longest of his career, he actually ran 90 yards, in part thanks to all the zig-zagging in the backfield dodging would-be tacklers.

Also, Bucky hit a top speed of 20.43 mph on that run. That’s moving.

Big night for Bucky. Jalon Daniels was the feel-good story for Tampa, but Bucky Irving was the engine driving them. Irving was stellar to the tune of a career-high 165 rushing yards and two total touchdowns. Unbelievably, it was the third-year back’s first career game with multiple touchdowns (5-yard TD catch in second quarter, 1-yard run in third quarter). His biggest play was the NFL’s second-longest rush of the season in which he wiggled around some shoddy Cowboys tackling for a 72-yard run on the opening play from scrimmage in the second half. …

If Irving can hit his stride against defenses of a better ilk than the Cowboys’, it bodes huge for the Bucs.

This would be huge for the Bucs. Again, look how much pressure Bucky balling out took off Daniels. As much as fans may like Daniels and as great of a story that he is, he’s still a green-as-grass rookie. Every team in the NFL passed on him seven times in the draft for a reason.

If Bucky can run anywhere close to what he did in Dallas in future games, that will not just help Daniels, but it will help Baker Mayfield when he comes back (maybe as early as next Sunday).

Let’s be real, Mayfield had a rough start to the 2026 season. Then he dislocated a thumb in his throwing hand. What better way for a quarterback to ease into the flow and get back to his norm than to lean on a stud running back?

My Man Bucky….see why I pushed for us to draft him? Bucky and Estime…4th rd’ers

  2. Bonan Says:

Dude is slick. Almost topped out at 20mph. What kind of speed does it take to break away from these safeties?

  3. Teacherman Says:

You can see it in Buckys eyes. He’s intense.

His life was nothing but pain. He’s a survivor.

He has the eyes of the tiger. He’s Chicago Tuff.

He’s one of my favorite Bucs of all time.

He’s brave and ferocious. He’s one of the smallest guys on the field, but he isn’t scared of anyone.

    Bucky! Bucky! Bucky!

Nonetheless, Gainwell needs more screens and chances in the open field.

And Tucker needs more drives. It’s a long season guys. We need Bucky Fresh in the 2nd half of the season.

    From Worst to First!

I know we can sweep the NFC South and make the playoffs.

    Go Bucs!

  4. MadMax Says:

That first juke and the O line sealed the rest…

  5. Bucman Says:

just be smart and use him wisely. Not large enough to take all the pounding when runninng up the gut.

Glad you set JL straight. Good thing JL has you giving him advice. lol

  7. McBay Says:

Everyone in the league passed on Tom Brady 6 times too.

The work Todd and Zac have done with Jalon is magnificent.

  8. ModHairKen Says:

I hope they do not bring Baker back this week. They have momentum. Daniels has manned the conn fairly well. He looks calm. Confident. Knows what he’s doing.

Let that thumb heal. It may take 8 weeks. Or more.

  9. infomeplease Says:

    Bucky! Bucky! Bucky!

  10. Anyhony Says:

Even more impressive considering he survived a textbook hip drop tackle earlier in the game by Cowboys cornerback Reddy Steward.

I dont pretend to know much about zone blocking schemes but Mauch on that play? Was he supposed to let the man over him go if he was headed upfield like that and then head to the second level LBs etc? Looked a bit strange to me. I know zone blocking depends on choice and what the other guys are doing. Sometimes an initial and then a secondary block. Otton looked like he got in his way as well. Not sure they drew that one up that way. LOL

    Go Bucs!

Did Doug take his football uniform to the STEAMING service and watch football there??? Think that guy AI should be the editor here.

Yeah and just like that many Buc fans will dump on him if he doesn’t keep it up. Last year after coming off a serious injury he wasn’t quite himself but also that same line that many some make excuses for Bakersfield, who couldn’t block a sneeze couldn’t open any lanes for him and people put it on him like he forgot how to run. Look at what you all did to Doug Martin after his injury, they rushed him back and he never was the same and once he met that girl Molly and people were ruthless. One of the best running backs we ever had. Same as Mike Evans people can make an educated guess why he left but some of the Bakersfield clowns dump on him because he wanted to chase a championship and he dissed their mighty midget qb

  13. Todd Says:

Dallas defenders weren’t missing tackles. They were behaving like it was 2020 during the plandemic and were intentionally socially distancing from Bucky.

    Triple masked!

Just 4 quarters to stop the spread!

  14. Todd Says:

Many it nice to know that…at least today…the Bucs will not lose?

  15. Oxycondomns Says:

bucky made fans fall in love with daniels. this wasnt the vikings defense . despite that godwin still cant get open.

  16. adam from ny Says:

love me some bucky for sure…

but on another note, i think coach finally has to throw the kitchen sink at old man rodgers next sunday…

next sunday we need like 4+ sacks…a beastly sack game…

if bowles needs to scheme up his team’s sacks, then do it…

play tiddlywinks & tip toe thru the tulips with rodgers and lose

Good stuff Teach!!!!Im waiting for the trolls to say if he had on different colored cleats he would’ve scored..

  18. DayOnePaul Says:

The Bucs won over Dallas with Buck Irving, unpredictable defensive blites, Jacob Parrish having the best game he ever will, and the Cowboys forgetting how to tackle. Each of the four were equally as important, and if you remove one of the four factors, we’re zero dash five.

  19. DayOnePaul Says:

    Blitzes

  20. Bosch Says:

I certainly understand why everyone is talking about this run, because it truly is spectacular. But they also be talking about how he finished the run, gaining an extra 10 yards by cutting inside in stead of going out of bounds.

  21. MadMax Says:

haha @Harry…ive been here a while lol….how long you been here? what have you contributed?

  22. Alanbucsfan Says:

Gainwell needs to be targeted on downfield routes… not used to block interior blitzes who outweigh him by 50 lbs or more

  23. Beeej Says:

JAX showing how to spring RB’s for screens. Apparently, you’re allowed to have offensive linemen BLOCK for the guy. Who knew

  24. JustOneGame Says:

Bucky saves the day. Barton and Mauch were absolute clown shows on that play.

  25. Steven007 Says:

Max, Harry’s been here a while. He was just pointing out something that I’ve pointed out in the past as well. Not with you though. And that’s people pointing toward predictions they’ve made in the past as if that has any value. Think he was just having a bit of fun. But a lot of posters do that. As if they expect some type of vapor keyboard prize. At least you didn’t say that he single-handedly won the game for us, haha. We all know that one. Which is a joke. As if any player on a 22-player team can single-handedly win anything. Silly.

  26. ProffeserVonBrainStorm Says:

32nd ranked run defense. That’s why we ran all over them.

4-12 in our last 16 games. That’s championship level football folks.

No wonder Bowles, Baker, and Licht got extensions.

    They earned it.

  27. Allen Lofton Says:

There are probably only a handful of runners in the NFL that can run and make play like Bucky Irvine did on Thursday night football. He juked half the Dallas Cowboys out of their jocks. The overhead video of his run was amazing to watch.

  28. Steve V Says:

    Professor “NON” brain storm..

  29. Steven007 Says:

Brainstorm, one of the things this team has done very well, unfortunately, is to not take advantage of supposed statistics like the one you mentioned. Normally we would face a 32 ranked team on run defense and gain 60 yd. So it’s nice that we at least took advantage of that. And regardless, that long Bucky run was special no matter what defense we faced. Was it perhaps somewhat less special because we faced Dallas and they couldn’t tackle? Certainly. But we still did what we needed to do. Not saying that makes us any better than what we are, it doesn’t, but it’s nice to take care of business every once in awhile.

  30. Bartow Buc Says:

The Bucs wouldn’t have won the game against Dallas if it hadn’t been for Bucky. But, the Oline played better which gave Bucky the opportunity to make those moves downfield and gave JD a little more time to set up and make plays !!

    Go Bucs !!

  31. Plan Bowles from Outer Space Says:

Good job Bucky. We are 1-4. Chance at 2-4 or 1-5.

  32. Plan Bowles from Outer Space Says:

    Dallas beat Dallas. Outblundered Bowles.

  33. MadMax Says:

    all good @ Steven, thanks

  34. Obvious Says:

You know what makes Bucky a “Real Stud”?

It’s actually very simple. At the end of the day… How many yards Can you get on any given play? Bucky… He Wants EVERY YARD he can get his foot on vs 99% of any regular human running with a ball. Most people… are happy if they can get a targeted amount or more likely a targeted destination.. THAT.. is not how Bucky thinks or imagines the outcome. Most are stuck within a limited point to point, A to B. Simple

Bucky? The A to B doesn’t exist in his thinking quite like most (99%) humans.

His thinking is Far More free to “imagine it” with each directional movement he makes. With each step he takes, he has a New directional option and thinks it through in less than a fraction of a second. In fact, if and when he has a slight break in the coverage that is constantly and immediately apon him, he is then able to think forward for up to 3 steps ahead (to test direction And decide on the One next step to see if and when it’s finally possible to Break Out on a long run.

You may have noticed that he almost looks slower on a straight run than when he’s knifing in multiple directions. Why is that? Because the challenge to his strategies aren’t a factor in the “moment”, He slows up slightly. Probably to conserve Explosive Energy to try to Go All The WAY! Or at least to grab just one (at least) extra yard “instead of” just giving up and laying down to the defender or to the defender out of bounds as witnessed in this play. You’ll notice he Never truly gives up, Especially at the end when he Chooses to step to the “in field” and attempt one more break out (which netted an extra yard) instead of giving up and stepping to the outside, out of bounds…

Who knows, that last cut in “might have” netted him what he’s been trying to get since he first stepped foot on the field.. A LONG run for the Actual Touch Down..

I don’t know if it’s actually achievable to get that long touchdown run in his “current condition”. Meaning enough energy left to FIGHT OUT OF the two/three defenders that were left to stop him. He had already exhausted a massive quantity of his juice to get that 78 yarder / 90 yarder run as it was… He didn’t quite have enough left in the tank to break through “one more time”.. If he can somehow add just a little more juice to his power level and doesn’t “have to” use it for the rest of the run to get as far as he did.. And that Was “from fresh” as it was. Just a bit more energy added and perhaps he breaks that last obstacle.

It ALL STARTS within the “Way” he interprets and views his world “in the moment”

Just like Barry Sanders did… Why did Barry Sanders quit football in his prime? When it made NO SENSE to the rest of the football world? Because he’s a different type of thinking human. It’s Not going to make sense to 99% percent out here. (I’m NOT saying Sanders made “good sense or a good choice”, I’m just saying his amazing career Was Because Of his way of thinking) Just like Bucky. Hopefully Bucky has greater aspirations than Sanders..
