Aaron Rodgers’ Record When He’s Not Sacked
October 12th, 2026
The Buccaneers have gone more than 8 quarters without a sack and are on pace for only 20 sacks this season.
For those who hate stats, 30 sacks in a season is a terrible number. The Bucs fell to recording only 37 sacks last season and spent the offseason working to overhaul their pass rush.
Yeah, yeah, pressures. Stop. Sacks are are important. They greatly impact the game and the fallen quarterback’s psyche.
Tampa Bay’s last sack was from edge rusher Anthony Nelson with about five minutes remaining in the loss to the Vikings in Week 3.
So here come the Steelers and Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Joe did the research and found that Rodgers is 26-4 in games in which he was the starter but was not sacked. And he’s 1-0 in the postseason when not sacked.
But wait, Joe, aren’t those Rodgers stats mostly old and useless? Not quite. Last year, Rodgers played four games for the Steelers in which he was not sacked. His record was 3-1. The only loss was 33-31 to the Bengals; Rodgers threw four touchdown passes in that game.
Are the Bucs capable now of winning a shootout with rookie QB Jalon Daniels. Joe can’t go there. So it’s a very safe bet the Bucs’ season will come crashing down if they can’t bury Rodgers at least once on Sunday.
When sacked only once in a game, Rodgers’ has a 69.3 percent winning percentage. That was the case yesterday when Pittsburgh beat the Colts 34-22.

They can’t rush, but they sure can cover!

But…Aaron Rodgers’ record against the Bucs when playing in Tampa is 2-3. in the three losses, he was sacked 11 times, but those numbers are skewed because of one game with 6 sacks.
• September 28, 2008 (30–21 Loss): 1 sack
• November 8, 2009 (38–28 Loss): 6 sacks
• October 18, 2020 (38–10 Loss): 4 sacks

@Joe – “The only loss was 33-31 to the Bengals; Rodgers threw four touchdown passes in that game. Are the Bucs capable now of winning a shootout with rookie QB Jalon Daniels?”
39-25, and 39 minutes, Joe! The winning formula against the Cowboys!
Can the Bucs again (and will the Bucs again) run 39 times with 25 pass attempts while possessing the ball for 39 minutes?
If so, what teams can create a shootout against the Bucs while possessing the ball only 20 minutes?
Those are the questions, Joe!
With Baker and his heroics on the field, 39-25 seems to have been an approach the Bucs could not humble themselves to take.
Finally, starting an undrafted rookie, the Bucs humbled themselves and found success.
Will the Bucs remain humble when Baker returns?
Will the Bucs settle in with Baker commanding as the Bucs execute creative plays like the one we saw with Egbuka along with real RPOs and the heavy use of play action?
If so, three things should happen.
First, the offensive line should be able to exploit the uncertainty of the defense to create consistent opportunities for the running backs.
Second, the wide receivers will find themselves in more one-on-one matchups like the one Tez Johnson took advantage of.
And, third, Baker can settle in as the commander of this offense rather than living in desperation mode trying to be its hero.
This offense should shine! Finally!
(Its a shame that we don’t have Rashaad White in the mix. But, Bucky shouldn’t shoulder all of the load.)

Rodgers is actually on a 3 game heater right now with at least 3 TD passes in his last 3 games which ties the all time franchise record sharing that now with the Blonde Bomber Terry Bradshaw.
NFL should create a stat for how many plays your defense got the QB on the ground , because a Pressure with the QB going down is immensely better due to the cumulative effect over the course of a game if you are able to create multiple knockdowns of the QB even if it is not a sack.
We still have not seen Jalon Daniels best game yet, so may that happen against Pittsburgh, and if so our Bucs will be right in it. Special teams play such a large role in the league now it is very surprising and disappointing that teams do not give HC opportunity to a Special Teams Coach.
Brian Flores will be a HC again next year for sure.

Why do other teams sack QBs and make it look like fun. Our Bucs have always made it seem like the impossible. One day. Miss you Shaq and JPP

Rush 7. Who cares? Yeah they might get burned. But I’d rather have them get burned than dink and dunk for 60-80 yards.
And if you get him on the ground, he always folds.
He’s old. He’s not mobile.
And he’s not patient.
You listening, Bowles?

Constant Pressure is what makes the diff look at Prescott Thurs he was out of synch the whole night .. You can get 3.. -2 yd sacks and it not mean a lot.7 of the last 10 SB winners did not even have a 10 sack guy

Pittsburgh is starting a rookie RT Max Iheananchor after benching starter Dylan Cook who struggled through there first couple of games. Iheanachor is a better road grader than he is pass protector and I’ll be the first to point out this may be the match up Bain/Walker could use to blow up the pocket. Idk, part of me feels like we match up well with their front and if there were ever a game for this DL to turn the heat up it’s walking into this game against Old Man Aaron.
We’ll see, we’ve played Rodgers pretty well in the 3 games he’s played against a Bowles’ led Bucs defense and in those 3 games, we’ve allowed Rodgers run offenses to score 50 combined points. 5 pass TDs, 10 sacks, & 4 INTs total with the inclusion of the 2020 NFC title game.

So Rodgers has an almost perfect record when he doesn’t get sacked…and we dont get sacks…what could go wrong??
October 12th, 2026 at 9:45 am
If 1-4 causes Joe to spray his shorts, why is 1-5 the end of the season???
I mean honestly, we’re still in the hunt for the vaunted NFCS title even with a loss.
Bowles doesn’t care about sacks because he doesn’t care about winning.
He doesn’t need to win to retain his jobs and get a raise and extension.
Zero incentive to succeed. The scoreboard is truly meaningless with Todd as the HC\DC.

Oh professor… Ironically, the comment section was smarter before your arrival. You may not like the coach, many of us don’t, but to say he doesn’t care about winning? To say he has zero incentive to succeed? That’s just silly talk from an angry poster. A lot of us are angry about the season. But you don’t need to post silliness. Makes you look very unprofessorial. Even with all the one sentence paragraphs.. or perhaps because of.

Running back Jalen Warren has allowed Rodgers to win with play action. Warren had 188 scrimmage yards this week so he’s got to be shut down along with TE Pat Freiermuth. When was the last time the Bucs shut down a good TE?

I find in laughable when people come up with these “formulas” like rush 39 times.
Sure, IF the running game is working and you’re sustaining drives, you can do that. But when you play a team that’s not only really good at stopping the run, but also committ extras guys in the box, you can just say “run it”!
The Steelers just shut down one of the best rushing attacks in football in Jonathan Taylor. They’re game plan will be to stop the run at all costs Sunday and they have the horses to do it.
That 39-25 ONLY works when the running game is working, like Thursday. This game will be completely different and Jalon is going to have to make plays and play mistake free.
If the Bucs are sustaining drives and getting 3+ yards a carry, then by all means keep doing it. But the Steelers are very good at stopping the run.

“When was the last time the Bucs shut down a good TE?”
Last Thursday or are we going to act like Friermouth is > than Jake Ferguson?
October 12th, 2026 at 10:27 am
Baltimore brought pressure and dropped a couple dudes all night long..I dont know what the big deal is about dropping dudes…
October 12th, 2026 at 10:40 am
They better blitz this game like they did in Dallas or it is going to be a long afternoon.
October 12th, 2026 at 11:09 am
I seem to remember a game in Tampa that they got to him early and often and he was not the guy most think of at all. He follded like a cheap tent. Get him on the ground dudes!
Go Bucs!
October 12th, 2026 at 11:16 am
If we don’t pressure Rodgers, with sacks, and hits, we’re going to lose. Give Rodgers time, he’ll destroy us. Get ready for 1-5.
October 12th, 2026 at 11:23 am
Thank you johnnythemoon! You get it! 🫡
October 12th, 2026 at 12:11 pm
Rodgers has to hit the deck. Whether it’s a sack or near sack, he needs to be hit. Just getting close without getting his jersey dirty will end up being a long day.
October 12th, 2026 at 12:28 pm
Logic and Johnny, you think the Bucs have a pass rush? Yes or no?
October 12th, 2026 at 12:40 pm
Baker will start . So let it be written , so let it be done 😀
October 12th, 2026 at 12:43 pm
The Bucs were within inches of sacking Prescott several times and knocked him down several times. He was rattled and somewhat inaccurate as a result. Pressures and hits create turnovers just like sacks do. Pressures do a great job throwing off timing patterns too, which makes offenses less consistent.
October 12th, 2026 at 1:18 pm
So I guess Johnny Logic Stepmom (or whatever the heck that name is) think we have a pass rush. Interesting.
