Tristan Wirfs: “I Think We’re Trying To Be Smart”
August 27th, 2026
Looking at Cincinnati.
For the second year in a row, Bucs All-Pro left tackle Tristan Wirfs had the start of his season stunted.
Last year, Wirfs didn’t get on the field until Week 4 as he had July knee surgery.
This year? Wirfs was fine until he tried a conditioning drill the day before the first practice of training camp and blew out a hamstring.
He just got back to fully practicing this week. And after yesterday’s shells-and-shorts only practice in Jacksonville, Wirfs believes he’s on track to start Week 1.
“Yeah, I feel great right now,” Wirfs said. “[It] wasn’t how I was hoping to start camp. That was really frustrating.
“But very nice to be back out here with the boys. Yeah, I feel good.”
Wirfs hinted the amount of time he missed was influenced by the Bucs wanting to ease Wirfs back onto the field and not risking a re-injury.
“I think we’re trying to be smart,” Wirfs said. “A little bit early on in camp I was [thinking] I’ve never really [hurt] a hamstring before. I was like, ‘What is this?’
“I [had] a couple of plays [Tuesday], and then kind of just keep doing that moving forward. I think these next two weeks will be big just to get as many reps as I can.”
Right now, Wirfs is stoked to at least be with his teammates on a practice field. He, the Bucs and Bucs fans will be elated if he stays healthy for Week 1.

we’re going to need him healthy the entire season…
if EE2 and JMac arent fully healthy, Zac is going to have to rely on the run game early and often…and the run game starts with Wirfs…
GO BUCS!!!!!

’24 Hold in
’25 Hurt
’26 Hurt
Playing it smart sounds like a pretty good idea. Take all the precaution needed to get him as close to 100% as possible.

Chukwuma was solid last year backing up Wirfs. When does Ben get healthy? The same with Skule, what’s his status Joe?
August 27th, 2026 at 9:39 am
The guy can’t stay on the field, just cut him and get it over with!

Bodys were not meant to be that big.
August 27th, 2026 at 9:57 am
OR….was it he was not necessarily telling the truth to get out of the rigors of training camp?
August 27th, 2026 at 9:58 am
My prediction hurst is a starter with EE and CG

After this 7-10 season.
And we fire everyone…
What would T. Wirfs be worf via trade?
Is he worf a 1st and 3rd?
Is he worf more than that to a contender like KC?
I’d like to know the Buc’s fan POV.
Lay it on me baby!

Marine Buc, that won’t happen.
They are not hot going to blow up this roster. Regardless of the record this year.
They wouldn’t be attractive to a new coach if they did that.
I hope we get Mike Tomlin as HC, and Jon Gruden as OC. 😉

Pretty much like I said back when it broke. Hammies are usually a big problem for the speed guys, but linemen use more quad than hamstring. He’ll be fine.

@ Bonzai
Tomlin or McDermott would be an improvement over the current regime…

“Marine Buc, that won’t happen.”
If you could trade Wirfs for a future franchise QB – would you pull the trigger?
August 27th, 2026 at 10:51 am
@ Bonzai
Let me re-phrase that question…
If you could trade Wirfs for a 50/50 chance at drafting a franchise QB – would you pull the trigger?
Sorry – I have to try “harder” according to some folks around here… lol.

A franchise LT for a 50-50 franchise QB? Nah.
But I do agree, if this season goes 7-10, they will move pieces that are too expensive. Wirfs. Vea. Godwin. Baker. Winfield.
Has anyone seen the mess Miami is in? As harsh as I am on Licht, he at least did not do that to the Bucs.
August 27th, 2026 at 11:01 am
I think Wirfs is worth two 1st round picks and a 3rd.
August 27th, 2026 at 11:11 am
Now the Clowns in here are talking about trading the best LT in football? You can’t make up just how stupid some of these idiots are.
Hey Marine,
1k wager on the Bucs winning more than 7 games? You in or out?
August 27th, 2026 at 11:11 am
@ Mod
I agree with most…
My only question I have is – does Wirfs value = the opportunity (50/50) at drafting a franchise QB?
Spin the wheel – you might get a J. Winston or you might get a Drake Maye…
You might get a P. Mahomes.
You might get Trey Lance.
You might get a J. Allen.
You might get a Mitchell Trubisky.
You might get a L. Jackson.
Who knows?
However – you can’t win it if you ain’t in it…
Anyone else play the lotto?
Let’s effing go!

ModHairKen … ‘But I do agree, if this season goes 7-10, they will move pieces that are too expensive. Wirfs. Vea. Godwin. Baker. Winfield.’
Last season we went 8-9 and moved about half the defensive starters. Offense did just as bad as the defense in the 2nd half of the season, yet the only starters who ‘moved’ were Evans (voluntarily) and White.
If we implode again (and go say 7-10), more heads will roll. But the odds are it won’t be on defense this time (IOW, Vea & Winfield will be immune unless either really looks bad). But almost surely Baker & Godwin wouldn’t be re-signed, but I seriously doubt the Bucs would consider moving Wirfs.

Wirfs is the only current Buc I won a jersey of. Get healthy big guy and ball out
August 27th, 2026 at 12:57 pm
Tomlin and McDermit is your thoughts on a new coach? Going from Bowles to 1 of these 2 is like not loving your Pizza Hut for dinner and decide next time to go with Dominos ,, these three are built the same ,, My guess is Bucs go 10-7 , win the division and maybe even a playoff game and Bowles is kept in tact ,, the offense needs to stay healthy and the Defense and Special teams need to be much better

@ Fan
I’m intrigued by your offer…
What is your prediction for this season?
You don’t agree with my 7-10…
Bring it papa.

Marine Buc Says:
What would T. Wirfs be worf via trade?
^^^^^^^
Not Licht’s MO.
He doesn’t trade his guys. Licht was on the Patriots staff so it’s surprising that he doesn’t trade away vets. VV for a 2nd was a no brainer. Wirfs for a 2x1sts. Easy decision. Licht is a softy. Never going to happen.

Intrigued?? You have said 7 wins. I predict they win more than 7. 1k says they do. You in or out??
If they suck like you predict then why just “intrigued”?? Pony up or shut your trap.
