Todd Bowles Said He Likes Physical Players, So Long As They Can Play

Hey, it would be cool if a couple of Bucs defensive players could be like Hulk Hogan and Randy “Macho Man” Savage and Ric Flair and put on a good show for folks while effing up offensive lineman.
But there is a reason those three dudes rassled and didn’t play in the NFL: They couldn’t play football at the highest level.
That’s sort of what KitKat-eating Bucs coach Todd Bowles said yesterday. Folks are pumped to see Rueben Bain being an animal and Josiah Trotter getting physical and letting the offense know he’s coming for more. But at the end of the day, it’s all about playing football and not being the show.
“Yeah, you see that,” Bowles said of how newcomers to the defense are more physical. “But they’ve still got to be able to play.”
Bowles likes what he sees, but it is still early August. The defense has a lot more work ahead of itself. So far so good, Bowles said, but keep pounding that rock.
“Those guys are doing a very good job communicating and leading the team that way,” Bowles said. “Obviously, we had ‘Win’ [Antoine Winfield) and Vita [Vea] and, obviously, YaYa [Diaby] and [Calijah] Kancey do some good things as well, but adding [Alex] Anzalone and A’Shawn [Robinson] is really helping out a lot, along with [Christian] Rozeboom.”
Joe has maintained the Bucs defense quit on Bowles last year. The defense dearly needed an infusion of glasseaters. Joe believes the Bucs have done that.
It’s a good start. Now, Joe sure hopes this newfound pass rush can bring those early-August demonstrations into September and January results.
The NFL, unlike rasslin, is very real. As in real results are required.

Pretty sure we’ve heard this before from Bowles. Then the results ruin the party.
Also, I’m pretty sure it’s not just KitKats he’s consuming.
He’s got what doctors call a bit of a weight problem. Eating bear claws 2×2.
Just gotta nutrition it better.

Good tackling is about stopping the ball carrier immediately. Young guys trying to deliver big hits whiff too often. Do your job without mental mistakes.

Remember last year when Bowles said that the defensive effort was good, and we could tell he was lying? Then later on, he admitted some players were loafing (yeah, we already knew that), but he couldn’t do anything about it because it was different players every time? Another lie. So, we’ll see what this year brings, and hope that Bowles doesn’t make the same mistake of having easy practices and worthless “walk throughs”, no wonder the defense was seen WALKING towards the ball.

Todd’s a great coach and better personnel will demonstrate that this year. Coaches tend to coach down to the talent level of their roster. They can raise it a little.

Cosmo is just another troll with a new name. No one really cares. Havnt seen 3.28 around in awhile or lynch mob or one of the few other trolls that can’t stop crying about Bowles. Shoot I want s him gone to but guess what he’s our coach for another year and if your not rooting for him or if your not rooting for baker or any other Bucs player your not a true fan.

With all of the praise for the Great Guru of Defense, Genius of Clock Management, and Master Motivator, you’d think that the Bucs would’ve made the playoffs last year. You’d think he’d have a winning record as an NFL HC.

This goes back to the whole Suh vs. McCoy argument. It wasn’t that I didn’t like McCoy, but they made him the face of the franchise and that didn’t sit well with me. Thank God Suh later joined the Bucs and helped bring us a Super Bowl victory. He also settled who was the better player! Point being two players with similar talent levels the nasty one will come out on top every time. Licht went too far drafting nice guys.

If that is true, then the roster is one of the worst constructed in history. That means the GM should be fired. You can’t have it both ways. If the HC\DC is so great but he doesn’t have the players for his magical scheme then find someone capable of gathering said players. But that’s just lemmings speak. Todd is trash, Licht is trash, Baker is trash. Glazers embrace the losing culture.

Great coaches get the most out of the players they have. If the roster is poorly constructed that’s on both Licht and Bowles. Allowing this team to be Charmin soft, hiring buddies and family, while not having the balls to fire a ST coach who was DREADFUL is on Bowles. Not to mention his numerous in game coaching blunders.
Players who like picking up paychecks for walkthroughs (practice and games) are the only ones who think he’s a great coach.
Toxic positivity is just as bad as negativity.

Todd is a decent person, and that’s commendable for sure. The planet needs as many people like that as possible.
But to say a coach is great, but win at a 500 clip is not real.
As a Head Coach Todd, is the very example of average-50% winning rate with the Bucs and if you include the Jets its under water.
Again I think Todd is a very respectable person, but his profession is Head Coach of the Bucs, and in that capacity, he is the very example of average.
I am making it clear to separate Todd as a person and also the capacity he fills as a Head Coach of a NFL Team.
