Todd Bowles Liked One Result From Friday Night
August 14th, 2026Joe has but two goals when dealing with a worthless preseason game.
The first one is paramount: Stay healthy.
The second is for younger players to improve.
KitKat-eating Bucs coach Todd Bowles decided to go with a youth movement tonight, sitting all the Bucs starters and key veterans. The Bucs were down 10-0 but rallied back for a 24-16 win that will likely be lost to history by the end of next month, if not by Labor Day.
Bowles came away with at least one good resulte: His players, his young players, didn’t get flustered when they fell behind by two scores early.
“Just developing mental toughness,” Bowles said of his first impression from Friday. “You know, a lot of young guys got to play for the first time under the lights and referees and live bullets.
“[They had] their little jitters in the first half. They came back out and settled down, and they closed the game out and they started communicating.
“I thought they played decent in the second half.”
Decent is better than bad. Improvement is a goal.
Joe can’t get too excited about this win, as nobody knows what was seen tonight will become a total fluke in two weeks. But at least tonight it showed the backups have backbones and maybe the Bucs found a decent backup corner and special teams help.

So, it was a worthless game until it wasn’t…

REALLY JOE ,NOTHING ABOUT HOW JALON DANIALS HAD A NIGHT ! WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU ?
August 14th, 2026 at 11:10 pm
Well basically the backups looked like backups and got shoved around the Jets starters, but when the Jets brought in the backups, what we saw was the Bucs have better backups. Which is what you’d hope for.

wow rookie qb daniels also looks like the real deal…in the sense that he should have a spot in this league…
he’s short, but everything else in his repertoire seems to be working well
August 14th, 2026 at 11:22 pm
yes i came on here looking for a daniels’ story as well, but nothing…weird…
he looked good and …………POISED
August 14th, 2026 at 11:24 pm
i saw some camp meat out there for sure….but daniels doesn’t look the part of camp meat particularly…
seemingly strong arm too

Daniels is 6’4” 210lbs according to the tv. He ain’t short. He’s got a good arm too. Couple nice passes were dropped.

Hurst getting the ball knocked out in the endzone is perfect! What a time to have that happen–incredible learning experience for this rook. He played great even with Bazelak throwing the ball 5 yards behind him. He is an ascending talent. Love this draft. Pybuk got 2 sacks this was a good game. We got a pick six and another interception–it was alotta good stuff and alotta good learning. Daniels was great!

TV measurables on Jaylin Daniels were INCORRECT!!
He is only 6’1” not 6’4”
Says 219 lbs
Ran 4.65 forty time and a rocket for an arm…
Love his mobility…
Bucs really may have a future star here if he gets more quality playing time to develope,..
He’ll be backup QB by next year then whoooo knows..

I swear I just said this on another post the other day I told you we are not a first half team honestly never have been anytime. We’re hot in the beginning. It’s almost for sure we’re probably gonna lose, but that was the past as for now we are a second half team. That’s looking party good

SB bound!!! Todd Bowles is a guru!!! 17-0!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤡🤡🤡🤡

Jack Pyburn is an LSU player. They are good!
Pyburn is 6-4 and 260 Ànd ranked as a top 10 EDGE player against the run last year. In the SEC. He started his career at Florida.
À UF/LSU UDFA? I love it.
Pyburn is already beating out Braswell.
I hope we can hide Pyburn on the practice squad.
He’s a legit young talent.

I wouldn’t call it a messy victory… awkward comes to mind, but that doesn’t really fit what I saw, either. Not sure what to call it, but we won so we were obviously doing some things right.
Jalon Daniels looked much better at QB than Connor Bazelak did. Hopefully, we’ll get to see Daniels throwing to Ted Hurst at some point before the season begins. If Daniels goes onto the practice squad, I could see him getting snagged by another team.
Hurst demonstrated that he can make some tough catches. He looked a bit rough around the edges, but he’s also a rookie making his first NFL appearance. That’s to be expected. The almost-TD that got snatched away is a learning opportunity for him.
Ayden Garnes and Elijah Roberts both had good games. Garnes with the pick-6 and TFL, while Roberts had a couple of outright sacks and at least an assist on one or two others.
Overall, it looked like the Jets offense had an easier time moving the ball up and down the field than we did. There was a spell in the middle of the game when we seemed to keep going three and out.
That ties into my only real red flag from last night. A lot of pass plays where our D was nowhere to be found and Jets receivers were able to make completions and pick up YAC before they were tackled. Shades of last year all over again…

Obviously not top tier football in terms of execution, but it was fun to watch for the most part even w/having to endure Connor Bazelak. More importantly, everybody(on both sides) stayed pretty much healthy.
Kamara made a play out in space
Keionte Scott missed out on a pick late lined up on the outside.
Garnes lit the fuse with an INT
Whatever Elijah Roberts did to bulk up this offseason worked, he looked massive out there. There was even a rep he lined head up on an OT on the TE side and absolutely wrecked him, but it was a run.
Ted Hurst didn’t catch that one pass in the endzone, but he cooked his man with his release. Better ball and that’s a “too easy” TD
Jack Pyburn was on one, idk if it was the smelling salts, a little booga suga, or just straight up adrenaline, but to sack the QB and w/o breaking motion toss him aside so you can get hype-I liked that.
Whatever the offensive staff has been doing w/Jalon Daniels is obviously working, because I was expecting Jayhawk Daniels and bro came out playing like Willie Beamen w/o the barf. Granted it’s the preseason, super small sample size, but his energy manifested in his play and he looked better.

@Bucfan1988
I typically just search Atlanta Falcons chat room then normally go to their Reddit.
Yeah, I know it’s Reddit (gross). But they’re pretty active on there.
I think the most consistent opinion about Tua was “He’s ass!”. LOL

Well it looks like nothing has changed in the Bowles defense. Guys still running wide open in the secondary. It’s going to be another year of mediocre quarterbacks running wild on us.
August 15th, 2026 at 10:04 am
For me is this was one game closer to Bowles coaching his last game for this team.
August 15th, 2026 at 11:39 am
Hey Les. Chill out. He’s a fourth string qb. Go back to kansas.
August 15th, 2026 at 2:23 pm
It was what an exhibition game should be. The Jets’ started with their first team, who built a lead to give them confidence after a bad year, and the Bucs’ new guys got to strut their stuff in return. Both teams looking for positive vibes but in different, nonconflicting ways.

Please read the article, Bowles said ” The young guys got to play under the lights for the 1st time” Apples and oranges! The 1st team O and D scrimmaged all week leading up to the game,Its all about depth and trade bait in pre season..
