Todd Bowles Discusses Wide Receiver Injuries

August 17th, 2026

Toe injury.

When Joe noticed the answer from KitKat-eating Bucs coach Todd Bowles, the first thing that popped in Joe’s head was, “Aren’t we all?”

Both Emeka Egbuka and Jalen McMillan are dealing with injuries. The Bucs have been non-specific about thems because, in part, the NFL does not require teams to issue injury reports until four days pror to their first regular-season game.

But in separate questions about Egbuka and McMillan, Bowles deemed the injuries as both “day-to-day.” Bowles did not elaborate.

Egbuka has a sprained toe that internet doctors claims is a low-grade turf toe. Of course, this internet doctor doesn’t have access to Egbuka’s X-rays or MRIs.

As for Tristan Wirfs (hamstring), he was on the field and Bowles said the team is ramping up his schedule and workload.

Backup quarterback Jake Browning is suffering from a bum back. He did not dress for the Bucs’ first worthless preseason game in New Jersey. He was in pads at practice this morning but from what Joe saw (which was heavily screened) and other media members sitting near Joe, no one noticed Browning taking a snap.

Perpetually hurt cornerback Benjamin Morrison actually practiced today! It was his first practice of the summer he was actually on the field. He had really good defense against Ted Hurst on a touchdown pass from Baker Mayfield.

Joe thinks Hurst is just that good on contested catches; even really good defense doesn’t faze him.

Great news on Morrison. I know all the couch potatoe, football experts just want to rag on the kid, but I’m sure he’s more frustrated than anyone.

Here’s to hoping he can stay healthy and become a good CB. Seems like a really good kid.

Bucs injuries have been a constant…….heck, they’d probably have a dozen on the injury list after week 1 of flag football!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Simple T Says:

Joe – wtf with the kitkat eating Todd nickname ? Been every post for awhile now it seems. I get it from the trolls but you are supposed to be professional journalist aren’t you ?

  4. 813bucboi Says:

Ted will definitely be counted on this year…much like Tez was last year

    GO BUCS!!!!

  5. Baker Bowl Says:

@Joe I have to agree with @Simple T I mean this is where I come for the most serious and crucial Bucs news.

What about the Crunch bars? What about the cookies? I mean the man is much more than a KitKat eater. He’s a man with a developed taste in chocolate/chocolate adjacent delicacies.

  6. Baker Bowl Says:

    @fanofdabucs

100%. He was a team captain and contributor for a National Championship contender. I don’t know many guys who get to that position by just going with the flow. To start at a place like Notre Dame (as a freshman especially), you are football. To perform on that stage, you are good at football.

I really do hope he can stay healthy. I was excited enough about him without knowing much about Parrish, but now with what Parrish proved to be, I think Morrison could bring us to having a truly top5/elite secondary in the NFL, something I NEVER could say with CDIII and/or Jamel Dean on the roster.

  7. BiggestBucsFan Says:

Who couldn’t be more excited? Bucs could be the first team in NFL history to win all their preseason games, all their regular season games, and all their postseason games. Bowles has them firing on all cylinders.

  8. MonsVenusVIP Says:

We all know Jason Licht’s favorite band is BTS and it’s not even close.

  9. Larrd Says:

Speaking of turf toe, is Justin Evans due back soon?

  10. unbelievable Says:

LMAO some of ya’ll still not familiar with the Joe(s) writing style? They also include adjective-laced nicknames… Just wait until there’s an article about Peter King!

As for EE – I really hope it’s not turf toe, or else his whole season will be affected.

  11. Boge Says:

What’s up with Tez? He was lighting it up, I believe he got injured but haven’t heard much lately.

  12. Lt. Dan Says:

    Tez has a groin.

  13. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

I may be one of the few Bucs fans to say this, but I have not given up on BenMo.

  14. magoobee Says:

If Morrison can stay healthy, he will be very good. But at the moment that is a big if.

  15. Teacherman Says:

I have no problem with Morrison.

I have a problem nepotism and cronyism.

I also have a problem using à 2nd round pick on a CB with two HIP surgeries.

You wanna draft Morrison? Bowles God-son? That’s cool.

But not in the 2nd round!

4th round? If he dropped? Ok.

    But à 2nd round pick?

Thank God we drafted Parrish. Otherwise, I’d be even more pissed.

  16. Hodad Says:

Don’t get use to Morrison being on the field. Trust me, this isn’t the beginning of a long healthy career.

  17. BridleOaks Buc Says:

As a faithful reader of JBF for the past 19 years, I get the Kit-Kat Coach Bowles reference. Such references is a part of the nuance and fabric that makes JBF, JBF. Keep doing you…Love it!!

  18. BiggestBucsFan Says:

Bowles has been losing weight and is committed to his physical health. No more Kit Kats. He looked like he’s already shed about 15 pounds or so.

  19. BAKERSBucs says Says:
