Weather: Nice and warm for the Bucs’ first worthless preseason game of the 2026 season, per AccuWeather.com. Tonight in the New Jersey Swamplands, it will be warm with an expected kickoff temperature of 84 degrees. That won’t cool down much even with the sun setting as by the end of the game look for it to be 76 degrees. No rain expected and barely any wind.
Odds: Per Hard Rock Bet, as of midnight, Bucs +5.5 (-105); over/under 35.5.
Outlook: Per KitKat-eating Bucs coach Todd Bowles, the Bucs will not play any of their regular season starters. The Jets will. So it will be cool to see how the Bucs backups will far against NFL starters. That ought to be a good test. Specifically, Joe will be watching the Bucs corners. With Zyon McCollum dealing with a groin injury and Benjamin Morrison being perpetually hurt, the Bucs are beyond thin at corner. So the Bucs backups are going to have to get their act in gear. Josh Hayes? You haven’t had a terrible camp but you need to show you can hand NFL receivers tonight. And to be honest, Joe doesn’t know if Bucs corners will get more tested against Jets receivers than they will in practice facing Bucs receivers. If Bucs backup corners can demonstrate they can hang with the Jets starting receivers, it will be a good night for the Bucs in Joe’s eyes.

I have never bet on preseason football, getting hard enough trying to pick winners in the regular season, but… for some reason I really like that +5.5 line.
Bucs have covered that in 5 of last 6 preseason games. Browning playing would probably give me more confidence.

All eyes on J. Daniels. And looking for SOME signs of life at CB. Go Bucs!

The Bucs are perpetually thin at corner because Jason and Todd are slow learners. I hope the secondary gets torched tonight. It will give them another taste of what the regular season will look like when the so called starters are out and the Bucs are forced to use practice squad guys in the secondary.
