Bucs 2026 Training Camp Practice Notes Day 15
August 20th, 2026
Defensive lineman Jayson Jones sheds a sled and looks to hit a tackling dummy. DL coach Marcus West looks on.
Training camp, at least at One Buc Palace, is now finished for 2026.
Last week, the Bucs had their final local training camp practice open to the public prior to flying to New Jersey. Training camp continued this week, though the practice was closed to all but special guests and media.
(Today, a German film crew of about a half-dozen showed up. After the standard first 30 minutes of team warmups and position drills that are open for photo/video shooting purposes. The Germans lasted maybe 10 minutes. The host/reporter wore all black — bad move. They were asked if they wanted to sit in air conditioning. They reacted like someone asked Joe if he wanted free cold beer. Hell, it was only 9:10 a.m. — and cloudy! Right when 11-on-11s began, they bolted. Practice started to get good and they bail? And they came all this way? smh)
It was a short practice — 80 minutes. When the Bucs return from Jacksonville next week, they’ll revert to normal regular-season practice schedule and media restrictions (can only watch first 30 minutes of practice which is just warmups and position drills).
Some notes from
11-on-11s
* Baker Mayfield throws to Kenny Gainwell down the left side.
* Sean Tucker runs right.
* Jake Browning fakes a handoff and hits Kameron Johnson near the left sideline. Johnson had to jump for the ball but it was a good 15-yard gain.
* Josh Williams runs right.
* Browning fakes a handoff and throws to Bauer Sharp tot he right who gets a ton of YAC.
* Browning throws right for Dean Patterson, who had blockers in front of him and he gets a good gain.
Goal Line
* Bucky Irving runs left and Jacob Parrish stops him.
* Bucky tries to go up the middle but there’s no daylight. So he bounces outside to the left and scores a touchdown.
* Mayfield tries for Chris Godwin in the back of the end zone but the ball was too high.
* Jalon Daniels rolls left and throws a touchdown pass to Devin Culp on the left side. Smooth. That might be the first time Joe has typed Culp’s name in the practice notes this week.
* Daniels throws to Tucker on the left side for six.
11-on-11
* Mayfield steps up in the pocket and throws a perfect pass to Bucky down the left sideline.
* Gainwell runs to the right and on the next play runs to the left.
* Browning throws to the right for Tucker. Someone on defense jumped the route (Joe couldn’t catch the number) and missed, which allowed Tucker to get a big gain.
* Barika Kpeenu (North Dakota State) runs right.
* Mayfield tosses a long ball down the left hash and hits Tez Johnson running a go-route perfectly in stride for a touchdown. Joe isn’t sure if Tez got both feet in as he caught the ball on a dead run near the end line and ran out of bounds.
And with that play, the Bucs end home training camp practices for 2026.

Thanks Joe, for being our eyes at camp! It seems there might be a little more focus on the offense’s run game, with wins by both sides of the ball.
Joe, is Morrison still on the sideline?

BIG-TIME High School Football Matchup tonight ‘nationally’ with two state of Tennessee POWERHOUSES, both loaded with TOP Power-5 RECRUITS, littered all throughout and across the field. Number-1 vs Number-2 in the state of Tennessee, and #12 vs #13 Nationally, according to MaxPreps. A rematch of last season’s State Championship Game… Nashville’s Brentwood Academy at Chattanooga’s Baylor School. Place will be INSANE. Several great HS matchups this weekend. I am SO READY!!!!

I’ve watched and read all about the Studs and Duds through this ridiculous hot summer, and can,t wait for some real Ball. I need to see Buckey Irving return to Being Buckey Irving! In 2024 he was such an exciting young talent!,,
August 20th, 2026 at 8:19 pm
Wow, wasn’t much to that practice.
August 20th, 2026 at 8:50 pm

WBL. Watched Kpeenu’s NDSU tape. Not as fast as you’d expect watching his tape, but he has put up numbers (receiving too) and isn’t adverse to pass blocking. Maybe he’ll get some shots Saturday.

“Watched Kpeenu’s NDSU tape. Not as fast as you’d expect watching his tape, but he has put up numbers (receiving too) and isn’t adverse to pass blocking.“
Looks bigger on tape than what he’s listed at, says he’s about 5’10 214(ish) and he looks it. Could just be me, but he’s really fluid in the hips and which helps with compensating by creating space exploiting pursuit angles.
Intriguing, not a right now guy but could stick.
ran a 4.6 40 but a 7 sec flat 3 cone and benched 225lbs TWENTY-EIGHT times. Maxed out at 500lbs squatting, allegedly.
Knew nothing of the kid before this morning, but he’d be what a modern day “power” RB looks like. From what I’m reading, also a really good pass blocker(built for it).

Sorry but I kind of gt triggered…German film crew? What the heck?
Joe can barely get a peek at a camp play and some schmucks from Deutschland waltz in and …LOL …right back out? The Glazers still have some real die hard football fans here in Tampa and are doing the damndest to alienate them! Geez!
Sorry Joes and Ira but that stuff ain’t right.
Go Bucs!
