Benjamin Morrison Talks About His First-Ever Joint Practice

Guess who was on the field today practicing against the Jaguars in Jacksonville?
Second-year cornerback Benjamin Morrison was hitting people, and he was on punt coverage and return teams. It was a welcome sight. Morrison has been battling a long-standing hamstring issue and hasn’t practice much this summer, and he didn’t play in the Bucs’ first two preseason games.
Joe caught up with Morrison after practice.
“It felt good. It’s just a blessing to be out here,” Morrison said. “It feels good. First-ever joint practice in two years. So, I’m just thankful to be competing.”
Morrison added he built confidence today, the kind you can’t build on the sidelines.
Will Morrison make his preseason debut on Friday night against the Jaguars? That’s the plan, Morrison said, but he truly emphasized that he’s approaching every day as one day at a time.
Today, Joe saw Morrison with the second-team Bucs defense a few times (Joe primarily watched the Bucs offense). Joe saw Morrison with a nice pass breakup over the middle with safety help. Two plays later he was seen beaten deep down the left sideline but the pass was underthrown and Morrison recovered to break it up.

Prayers that his body reacts well tomorrow and we start putting this all behind us. I just wanna see him play and I hate the way his career has started for him!

Parish got mossed today for a td dunno if I would like him outside permanently seems kinda short he will probably still play alot in the nickle.

I’m pretty sure in the first two games of the preseason that the defense has been playing a lot more man to man. I know it’s preseason, and you’re not game planning, but I’ll take any ray of hope that we might finally be seeing the end of the super soft zone garbage that has plagued this defense for years. If we just get more aggressive play from the corners, that will help really help the pass rush. If they do, in fact, plan on being more aggressive in the secondary, get Yaya extended now on the cheap before he blows up.

Benjamin ‘The Benchwarmer” Morrison… He was terrible even when he was healthy last year.

Munch – I agree. Seems Bowles has known we’ve had crap pass rush the past few years and feels forced to play soft zone. IF, and that’s a big IF, we can put consistent pressure on the QB, I’m sure Bowles would prefer to play man.
No more Joe Trying Shorinca running past the QB over and over producing nothing.
Hoping for the best while preparing for the worst.

Pewter Report already posted that the Bucs looked like, well, a team coached by Todd Bowles today against a team with the guy who should have been head coach of the Bucs!!!!!!!!

I have been saying for awhile the secondary is pretty scary not in a good way.
Hats off to Morrison he is healthy. Hopefully he can stay that way and develop quickly. Yes Parrish is short but he is likely the best cb we have. Hopefully McColumn continues to play well. However after last year I don’t trust him.

Glad the kid is banking some reps. If he can get and stay healthy he has lock down potential.
Some of you guys just love kicking people when they’re down. Sometimes it takes a minute (or even a few seasons) for players to start contributing.
