Highlights Of Episode 7 Of “Quarterback” With Baker Mayfield
July 22nd, 2026The following is a brief summary of some scenes in the Netflix series “Quarterback,” a “Hard Knocks”-like look at NFL quarterbacks. Cameras tail them on and off the field. Joe Flacco, Cam Ward, Jayden Daniels and Baker Mayfield are featured this summer.
* Just as for Bucs fans, Emily Mayfield did not see the 2025 season come down to the final week. “For us to start so strong in the season and then for it to come down to that game was something no one expected.”
* Baker Mayfield noted it was a weird feeling right before the final game against the Stinking Panthers. Even a win may not be enough. “The only thing we can do is to do everything possible to win this game.”
* Mayfield before the game embraces Mike Evans and says, “I don’t know if this is our last one. I appreciate you, bro. Let’s go f@cking get it.”
* When Carolina Panthers linebacker Krys Barnes got into Mayfield’s face after he scrambled for a first down, Mayfield screamed at him, “I F@CKING LOVE IT!” Chris Fowler, calling the game for ABC/BSPN, said, “Those Panthers defenders love to get in Mayfield’s face. And he’ll give it right back to ’em.”
* When Mayfield throws a 19-yard touchdown to Cade Otton for the game’s first score, Mayfield looks at the Bucs’ bench and hollers, “That’s my sh!t!”
* When Mayfield threw a pick, his only pick of the game, he immediately yelled, “F@ck me!” He repeated that a few times as he headed to the sideline.
* Mayfield noted that with Carolina’s offense playing well, there was more pressure on him to score points.
[Joe’s take: Then why the hell did Josh Grizzard downshift the offense so badly at the end of the first half? The Bucs took over at midfield with 1:51 left. Plenty of time to get a touchdown. Instead, Grizzard and the Bucs offense then burned more clock than a stoner who just bought a new bong and a fresh ounce. Four plays later there was just 18 seconds left. Irresponsible! Or did KitKat-eating Bucs coach Todd Bowles finally have an epiphany and realize he couldn’t trust his defense and decided to begin playing keepaway?]
* After the Bucs won, Mayfield admitted it was “frustrating” winning a game on a Saturday night and having to wait until the next day to find out if you’re hosting a playoff game or packing for the Bahamas.
* Mayfield said he would watch the slimy Saints-Dixie Chicks game with his family. But the next scene shows Mayfield sitting on his kitchen island countertop watching the game on a kitchen TV. He was stressing each play, wiping his face with his hands.
* Mayfield’s mood changed greatly when he held his little girl. “Can’t you say ‘Go Saints?’ … But only today.”
* “Not being in control of the game at all when you want it to go a certain way is absolutely miserable,” Mayfield said.
* At one point with his wife and daughter in the kitchen, a play doesn’t go Atlanta’s way. Mayfield softly said, “Son of a …” stopping just before saying the female dog word, punching the air.
* “I’m cheering hard for the Saints. That hopefully, I will never have to do again because it is not a good feeling.”
* The game ends with an Atlanta win, bouncing the Bucs from the playoffs. “To start out 6-2 and not make the playoffs blows my mind. When you have a team that you know is more than capable of making it, it really hurts,” Mayfield said.
* Clearly, Mayfield was dejected. He just stared at the TV but wasn’t really watching, with a faraway look in his eyes. The TV was there, but he wasn’t seeing it.
* “If we would have just won at Carolina or at Miami, we wouldn’t be sitting here like this. … We sh!t the bed to get to this point.”
* Weirdly, that one word from Mayfield — “Miami” — was the only reference to the nutpunch loss to the tanking Dolphins in the entire “Quarterback” series. Not one play from the flop in Miami was shown. Not once was the score shown. It was almost like the game never happened, never took place. Zero mention until Mayfield sighed how a win at Carolina or Miami would have gotten the Bucs into the playoffs.
* “Looking at the roster before the season thinking, ‘This is the best roster I have ever been on.'”
* Later, Mayfield began to snap out of it when answering a question from his wife about the slimy Saints, Mayfield said, “F@CK the Saints!”
* Emily Mayfield decides to console her husband. “Should we go to the Bahamas?”

Indeed, Baker is the leader of the team, and he shat the bed when they needed him most.
That’s got to be worth $55-$60 million a year, at the very least.
He’s just so clutch!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

We need Baker to spend more time in the weight room and the film room.

Trenton, N.J. in January seems smell. Danville, Ill. is quaint. 🙂

I’ve been referencing it for a couple of days now but didn’t want to spoil it.
Now that Joe has done the job for me…
“Later, Mayfield began to snap out of it when answering a question from his wife about the slimy Saints, Mayfield said, “F@CK the Saints!””
Back a Brinks truck up to that guy’s house. That’s what we want in a quarterback.

Hodad, it depends entirely how one defines “going to the Bahamas”
Nassau cruise stop? Bleach, yuck
Bimini dive trip…… oh yeah

Also, just a theory as to why the Dolphins game didn’t have any coverage, it was three days after Christmas. The crew may have gotten a holiday break.

Any fair minded person watching the last. 7 or 8 games could see the surge of defenders in the middle of the O line. Most of the time Baker never had time to get his feet set to look down field. When you are playing 3rd string O linemen, the results are predictable. To blame Baker for that mess is typical of the idiots who continue to run him down.

Footage from that Miami game would have broke the narrative the production was trying to create. Baker the hero warrior. Cam the up and coming rookie. Flacco the waning professional with a transcendent love for the game. And, Daniels the pragmatic realistic leader (and mamma’s boy). Stick to the script and everyone gets paid

Baker played great down the stretch. Bad luck and Josh’s Gizzard are to blame for that freakish collapse.

So they completely skipped over his 4-game losing streak where he singlehandedly cost the Bucs the playoffs – and instead focused on a game that didn’t matter? That’s some compelling television – I can’t believe I missed it.

Yeah, he was basically the league MVP really – but everyone was against him and worked to make him look bad. The Bucs don’t deserve him, he’s above us all.

MUNCH, with your beyond obvious disdain for Baker, who praytell do u want to QB the Bucs instead!? At this point who gives us a better chance to win? You have to have some enlightening ideas on this subject. Draft a rookie and waste next 2-3 years? Or is Mahomes available for a reasonable trade and we all dont know about it?
