Highlights Of Episode 2 Of “Quarterback” Featuring Baker Mayfield

July 17th, 2026

What makes Baker Mayfield?

The following is a brief summary of some scenes from the Netflix series “Quarterback,” a “Hard Knocks”-like look at NFL quarterbacks. Cameras tail them on and off the field. Joe Flacco, Cam Ward, Jayden Daniels and Mayfield are this summer’s featured quarterbacks.

Second episode begins with Mayfield sipping coffee on a boat deck outside his crib with his wife Emily and their daughter. Yeah, Mayfield said, he has a chip on his shoulder. It came from being doubted “so many times” dating back to his high school days at Lake Travis High School in Austin.

* In looking back at his 2021 season that eventually doomed his days in Cleveland, Mayfield said, “I dislocated my shoulder. Looking back on it, I probably should have gotten surgery and sat out the year. But, as stubborn as I am, I wanted to play.”

Interesting words considering what transpired last season.

* On a key first down rushing along the right sideline to help seal the Bucs’ win over Minnesota in Week 1 of the 2023 season, you see the Bucs sideline, led by Devin White, erupt at how Mayfield lowered his shoulder to get past the sticks. Tristan Wirfs said that play was significant. “I think from that point on, yeah, this is the guy we are going to follow.”

* The episode then cuts to Mayfield running for a touchdown, leaping over Giants defenders at the goal line in 2024 with his voice in the background, “Tampa has just been home from the beginning.”

* Later, Mayfield is shown arriving for a game at Houston last year, walking across the field wearing a Whitney Houston T-shirt.

* Against Houston, the Texans are flagged for a face mask on Bucky Irving and Mayfield celebrates almost like the Bucs won a playoff game.

* C.J. Gardner-Johnson steps across the line of scrimmage after a play to try to get in Mayfield’s face and Mayfield responds, “Who you talkin’ to? Shut your b!tch-@ss up.” Apparently, belt-to-@ss Gardner-Johnson had previously said how dangerous the Bucs would be if they had a quarterback.

It’s not nice to try to fool Mr. Mayfield.

What I found interesting in this episode is how Daniels is injured and says how if wasn’t for the “organization” he would suit up and play. The Washington organization, which I assume is the coach AND GM, find it prudent to protect their franchise QB AND have the foresight to have a serviceable backup, Mariota, who isn’t a retired HS coach. These guys are warriors, and need a true leader to protect them from themselves. Yes, Licht had a SB fall into his lap, thanks BA (who btw fell into Licht’s lap then guided licht like a lapdog thru free agency). Jason is a great head scout. A back slapping good ol boy, but he is not a franchise leader

    “Shut your b!tch-@ss up!”
I’ll take the guy who says that to a would be robber brandishing a gun and demanding his money. You know, a real life Dirty Harry type.
When you’re covered head to toe in padding and a helmet with ten other guys who have your back, with zero chance of harm coming your way, it just doesn’t have the same impact as getting the upper hand from a criminal and declaring, “Go ahead punk, make my day!” (“Punk” added for dramatic purposes).
Is Baker entertaining? Hell yes! But kinda funny too.
I’ll take a mime QB who wins Super Bowls every time.
In the meantime, Baker’s thespian antics will have to do.
Go get em’, Bake! Make our day!

Last episode is typical female behavior.

10 seconds after the Saints losing, therefore knocking the Bucs out of the playoffs.

Bakers wife consoled him for 3 seconds, then said “when are we going to the Bahamas?”

Typical American woman. She didn’t actually care that Baker was upset.

Her first thought was “so let’s go the Bahamas!”

Reminds me of Gisele after the Super Bowl.

Her first words to Tom were “what else do you have to prove?”

À passive aggressive and rude comment!

She didn’t say “you did it Tom!” Or “congratulations Tom!”

She said “what else do you have to prove?”

    What a cu%%!

Men are truly victims of à psychotic and narcissistic species known as “female humans!”

“Who you talkin’ to? Shut your b!tch-@ss up.” perhaps Baker’s statement to more than just CJ Gardner-Johnson? 🤔 Not mentioning any names.
