Baker Mayfield An Author?
July 17th, 2026“Quarterback” will pay off for Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield.
Any time a quarterback is featured in a high-profile TV documentary, that raises awareness. And given how Omaha Productions, the Peyton Manning-owned outfit that produced the show is putting a positive spin on all the “Quarterback” subjects, Mayfield might even become a respected if not likeable guy in markets outside Tampa Bay.
It may already be working on “Good Morning Football.”
The weekday morning show had a segment on Mayfield and how panel memembers perceived him in the series. Former NFL receiver Isaiah Stanback had one word to describe Mayfield.
“Steadfast.”
“I believe that you have to use the word steadfast,” Stanback said. “Baker Mayfield has been tried and true. He has been through it, but he has been unwavering no matter where he’s been in his career.
“You talk about somebody who’s had the Heisman, somebody who was a high draft pick, somebody who was a starter, somebody who didn’t have success, somebody who got benched, somebody who got cut, somebody who got injured, and then somebody who got themselves all the way back in a very competitive position and got his organization to one of the best in the league.
“This dude has been through it absolutely all.”
In fact, Stanback said, Mayfield might have a helluva story in his memory bank if he ever wants to make extra bucks after his career. There are all the ups and downs — from being a backup in high school to bolting Texas Tech to becoming a walk-on at Oklahoma and on and on and on.
“He needs to write a book ASAP,” Stanback said. He’s “like Rocky. But he, to me, is somebody who is very steadfast, and somebody that you can look at and say, ‘You know what? He has been through it all, and he stayed true to who he is, no matter where he’s been, no matter what everybody has had to say about.'”
Stanback has a helluva point. Mayfield is pretty much the same guy he was at Oklahoma. A fighter. A baller. Spills his guts on the field (which both helps and hurts his team). Plays with heart and passion.
Joe doesn’t think anyone could ever say Mayfield has ever half-assed it on the field. When fans pay to see the Bucs play, they know Mayfield will give it 110 percent.
Now, if Mayfield can only start racking up playoff wins.

Heart and moxie, yes a boat load. Brains and poise, a thimble full.
Is he a QB1 in the NFL, sadly yes because the talent pool has become very diluted.
On most teams he’d be a great backup, not the starter. That’s why Tampa is the perfect spot for him.
There’s zero expectation for success with this HC\DC, GM, and QB.
Just get max value on your contract despite the results on the field.
A Todd Bowles specialty. Failing upwards is his superpower. Baker has learned from the best.

Just Win Baby!! Go Bucs

we are fortunate to have this guy as our Franchise QB. We lucked out after TB12 to have a gutsy and charismatic QB to lead the way fall in our lap. Anybody that does not like Baker and calls themselves a Bucs Fan- is not really a Bucs fan-just a Hater. What -he plays hurt too much? SMH

The playoff wins will come when the offense and defense are relatively healthy come the playoffs- and do their typical getting hot at the end of the season. The health happened *yet* in his tenure but I certainly feel like the Bucs are (over)due.

Hasn’t.

Chester obviously isn’t a Bucs fan…
Then why are you even here???
July 17th, 2026 at 1:50 pm
LeSean McCoy has been talking trash about Baker again. And it’s one heckuva double standard. With people like that (who are clearly biased and awful people) in his ear, it’s no wonder Mike Evans went somewhere else. What a horrible choice in friends.

In fact I am a Bucs fan. As all of us have, I’ve seen way more losing than winning.
Through all of it I’m still a fan. The difference is that I don’t settle for mediocrity.
I don’t hate Baker Mayfield or even Todd Bowles for that matter, as people they are great and I’m sure we’d get along in a personal setting.
But neither of them is capable of moving the needle towards another SB title, or at least an actual run at one.
If Bowles wasn’t the HC\DC I believe Baker would have a vastly better chance to be successful.
“Why are you even here”? I’m here to counter the Pom Pom squad and their lemming like behavior towards a regime clearly in decline. And as a fan that is not good enough for me.
July 17th, 2026 at 2:23 pm
You’re here to counter the Pom Pom squad? That’s not a real job an actual fan would bother doing. You sound awfully exactly like someone else. And he’s useless too… The Bucs were injured last season and they aren’t right now. If that keeps up, there’s every reason to be optimistic if you’re a real fan right now. We have a nice influx of talent and they are healthy. Yet you and your ilk aren’t optimistic at all.
You all are pretty transparent that you are here for a reason and that agenda is not pro-Buccaneers. Not at all. And you’re full of it saying you don’t hate Bowles or Baker.

You’re an idiot. All you talk about is injuries on and on and on. As if injuries don’t happen to other teams.
The 49ers had more injuries to the defense and offense in a vastly superior division. And yet they won 12 games and a playoff game.
Imagine that! Having a HC, GM, and QB capable of absorbing high amounts of injuries and still putting a solid season together.
What you’re admitting without actually realizing it is that Todd and Baker can only survive in the worst division in the NFL under pristine conditions with absolutely zero negative outcomes to befall them.
Laughable at best. Run along and Pom Pom waive in your mindless way.

I just want this guy to play good no mistake football we can here about his story after he gets us to the promise land until then let him focus on the up coming season and no more shows for him until offseason smh mf want to be a movie/film star can’t get threw a season without being hurt
July 17th, 2026 at 2:38 pm
You’re even worse. You’re an idiot with an agenda. Every time I point this out you people start the personal attacks. What a bunch of babies. So you have an agenda and you’re a baby. A baby agenda.

Lynchmob do you think nobody knows you changed your name?
Asking for a friend.
July 17th, 2026 at 2:44 pm
Im starting to think Lynch is just an AI chat designed to stir up feces on here. Probably by a Falcons fan.
July 17th, 2026 at 2:46 pm
Actually he changed names several times.
July 17th, 2026 at 2:48 pm
You A-Holes on this site think all other QB’s make no mistakes and never get hurt. I hope Mayfield signs somewhere else for a BIG BOAT LOAD OF MONEY. Reading an Article yesterday saying the JETS are going to be a team that would gladly scoop up Mayfield.
Think of $$$’s he would rake in if he could lead the Jets into the Playoffs. All the endorsement money alone would make the BUCS offer look like chump change.

Answer me this Lynch- what’s the point of doing drafts and signing free agents if talent isn’t important? And if all your high paid talent and high draft picks are in the training room and not on the field do you still expect your team to win? The Niners lost more than 2/3 of their games the last time they were plagued by injuries. Last season they didn’t have nearly the critical injuries we did.
