Zyon McCollum Appeared Full-Go On Thursday

June 1st, 2026

There was national speculation last week that Zyon McCollum got injured during the stunning Emeka Egbuka catch-and-run during the first spring OTA practice at One Buc Palace.

Specifically, it looked like McCollum may have pulled up Tuesday and grabbed at his left upper leg as Egbuka approached the end zone.

Well, it seems McCollum fans can exhale.

Tuesday’s practice was open to media but the Wednesday and Thursday sessions were not. However, the Bucs shared a bunch of photos from the closed sessions and McCollum is seen looking like a cornerback in excellent health, running without any kind of wrap on his leg.

For those wondering, photos from Thursday show Bucky Irving in street clothes as his teammates went through the underwear football session.

Don’t worry. Irving will be back “in the summer or the fall,” per Todd Bowles.

Starting to get a little concerned that we bought another Cadillac (Williams) in Bucky.

At least Bucky wasn’t a first round draft pick and we have Gainwell.

The worry that McCollum had some kind of injury on that play was ridiculous. I watched that video multiple times and it just looked like he dropped his left hand to his side while in running motion. I think it was more of a pull up on the play because it was over and EE scored a touchdown more so than he pulled up with an injury. Nothing to see here… mainly because nothing was really visible. A serious Pat McCaffrey minion reach.

I love Bucky, but I’m more concerned about his mental health than his physical health. And I’m very concerned about his physical health.

So, do the math on that.

I think we will have a nice dose of Kenny G and Tucker this year. I really hope I’m wrong and Bucky is a focal point of this offense, but I’ll believe it when I see it.

I am not sure why the concern over McColumn. In fact I would argue the team is likely better with him on the sidelines. I saw enough last year. I really really think we need another veteran CB. I think expecting McColumn to suddenly become elite is simply fantasy and pure denial. He is a huge libility at this point.

His real injury was to his feelings. He may be out for a month. The doctor prescribed coloring books and long contemplative walks.

  6. BA’s Red Pen Says:

    Was he bored at practice?

  7. Fred McNeil Says:

Running back and outside corner are awfully thin.

    ^^^^^^^^

    Good post.

I forgot Bucky was getting counseling because his recovery taking longer than expected. He was super depressed. He’s still recovering so where is he mentally?

That’s something to keep an eye on.

I am worried more about both McColumn and Irvine’s mental health rather than physical. I can understand the bored crap from McColumn although that’s pretty bad. I don’t get what happened to Irving mentally. If he cannot handle an injury I have doubts as to whether or not he can handle a career in the NFL. These guys have to be mentally tough and I don’t think Bucky is. Hopefully he can change my opinion. Until then I trust in Gainwell. He is a proven veteran and not a fragile flower. You have to be in it to win it.
