Sneak Peak Into Baker Mayfield “Quarterback” Role

June 27th, 2026

Tristan Wirfs gives Bucs fans a peak into the Netflix “Quarterback” docuseries, which features Baker Mayfield.

Joe’s really looking forward to next month.

No, not for training camp. Joe always hated training camp in high school. And that same sour taste lingers all these years later. Instead of getting up at dawn in order to dodge traffic, Joe’s breaking down this year and getting an Airbnb.

An extra two hours of sleep each morning is well worth the cost.

But Joe is stoked that on July 14, this season of “Quarterback” will debut on Netflix. It’s an NFL Films docuseries that picks a handful of quarterbacks to follow around daily for a full season to give viewers an insight into their lives.

And this year Baker Mayfield will be featured.

In a Zoom sitdown with Aileen Hnatiuk of WFLA-TV Channel 8, which was streamed on the station’s website, Bucs left tackle Tristan Wirfs gave Bucs fans a glimpse of what they could expects.

First, Wirfs, who may be Mayfield’s best friend on the team, said he did an interview with NFL Films for the show. So Wirfs expects to be seen. Wirfs also said twice a week last season, Mayfield was mic’d up. Every game the Bucs played last season, and once a week in practice.

But the show isn’t just about football practice or football games, or Mayfield’s time spent at One Buc Palace. NFL Films also brings the viewers into Mayfield’s private and family life away from One Buc Palace or a stadium on Sundays.

Joe hopes the series sheds light on just how beat up Mayfield was last year. Joe’s not saying he wants to see Mayfield in pain, no! But if NFL Films shows Mayfield really forced himself to get on the field when maybe he shouldn’t have, it will certainly soothe some fears Joe has about Mayfield’s quality of play coming this fall.

Keep Baker away from the public eye in 2026. Maybe then he has a chance to not suck like he did last season with his commercials and MVP chatter inflating his head.

Keep 3.28.Evans from posting. Maybe he won’t act like a 12 year old who got cut from his Junior Varsity football team. Just maybe he might support the team that he is supposed to be a fan of.

@99 The big fella ⬆️, to be fair to 3.28 Evans , most 12 year olds would get cut from their JV football team since JV is usually for 9th and 10th graders. Football much?

I think we will see just how much Baker was hurt last year. That is kind of the problem on a couple of fronts. 1st the team had no one at back up qb that even wanted to step on the field. Teddy 2 gloves had no business being on the team. That goes to a front office and coaches problem. 2nd Baker goes all out and doesn’t ever want to come off the field as he inevitably gets hurt every year. It’s a catch 22 with him. The plays that fans and other players love seeing him make are what also risk his ability to stay healthy enough to make them.

LOL Simple Jack and the fat cheerleader bonding over some 1970s elementary school banter. Enjoy some muffins with those Pom Poms.

Funny Joe I couldn’t WAIT to get on the field in practice. Just a difference in folks, although some of those practices went too long I think.

So name calling makes you adult?….. hello, McFly, adults talking here

Expense the AirBnB, Joe! You’ve earned it!

Oh, how cute 3.28.Evans has a friend..
Even losers get a friend once in a while

Referring to 3.28 as a 12 yr old is an insult to all the 12 yr olds out there.

Very true ! He doesn’t even deserve the comparison to a 12 year old.

I agree with you Joe… Should be interesting to see how f’d up BM6 was away from the field.

  15. LynchMob50 Says:

Baker was so bad he chased off Mike Evans who took a pay cut and a tax increase to get away.

And now Mike has a real QB1 that has been to two NFC title games and a SB in half the time Baker has been in the league. He’s 2-3 in the playoffs. Pure crap.

If I were the GM right now he’d get traded for draft picks. There’s plenty of QBs on the open market we could go 8-9 with.

There’s plenty Pom Pom squad acts like Baker went 12-5 two years in a row and got to a SB. Not even close. Two years, one game, zero wins.

Baker is an absolute loser. Just like his HC\DC.

  16. 3.28.Evans Says:

LynchMob59, the truth hurts the Pom Pom lemmings. They can’t make a valid point based on performance, that’s obvious. So they resort to pretending they’re the 13 year old playground bully. It makes them feel good, all bully hugging and stuff. LOL.

  17. Well well well Says:

LM50 is a total moron. He thinks Baker is the only quarterback that needs teammates to be competitive. That is so idiotic that’s all that needs to be said about it. That’s the whole point, you aren’t the GM LM50. And Baker isn’t going anywhere because the people that know, know how good Baker is. And why the Glazers said they will cut a big fat check to keep Baker right here in Tampa. Your opinion doesn’t mean squat. Baker will be here for at least 3 more years and will pay him $50 million every year. THANK GOODNESS your opinion is worthless.

  18. Kenton Smith Says:

“They can’t make a valid point based on performance…”. Dang 3.28. Evans. I know you’ve got better than that in you. If you get some of your mojo back, I’ll have to read it tomorrow, because the stuff you’ve been serving is putting me to sleep. Good night.

  19. LynchMob50 Says:

WWW has a bee in his bonnet. Living rent free in his tiny mind.

I’ll remind him how wrong he and his fellow lemmings are after Baker and Bowels depth charge the 2026 season.

Look for another long sustained losing streak. Baker has been a part of three in a row. He sucks.

Scrap heap third string scrub at best. 1-9 in prime time. Zero SB titles with him.

  20. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Well, I’m just going to comment on the topic. I’m looking forward to it too, Joe.

And, btw, I love training camp…because of Joe. His Practice notes are the best!

That’s not how marketing or branding work in the NFL, and that’s why the Glazers have wanted a franchise QB since they’ve been the owners.
