“Kind Of Crazy To Look Back”

June 20th, 2026

Joe is not the only one shaken by watching film of the 2025 Bucs offensive line.

Fans needed a program to follow along. Elijah Klein made a start, along with two for Ben Chukwuma. Michael Jordan was a regular. Dangerous Dan Feeney played more than half the season. Luke Haggard made four starts. Joe’s not quite sure who started at right tackle at Carolina.

And then there was the shifting of positions. Graham Barton started the first three games of the season at left tackle.

All-World left tackle Tristan Wirfs reflected on all that with Aileen Hnatiuk of WFLA-TV. “Kind of crazy to look back at last year and see all the different rotations we had out there and guys just battling,” Wirfs said.

There have been no flashbacks this spring, per Wirfs. He said the starting offensive line has been healthy every day and there’s been full attendance through every voluntary spring practice, even the conditioning-only sessions.

Wirfs praised the work his linemates have put in, and he said they’re getting an assist from the other side of the ball.

“Our D-line is going to be something nasty,” Wirfs said. “… They definitely bring the juice over there.”

We beat Houston last season but one could argue they beat us. They whipped our behinds.

I don’t think we’ll ever see a physical loss like that in long time. At least I hope not.

Joe Tryon Shoyinka has retired after being drafted in Round 1 by our Bucs 5 years ago.

  3. Kenton Smith Says:

I’m sure it was tough losing his Super Bowl teammates Mike and Lavonte this offseason. Has to be tough on all of them. But these guys understand they’ve got to play through that. Tristan is a beast. Just to have him as your left tackle oughta be worth at least 10 million a year to Baker. I don’t think Baker wants to welcome Bain to summer practice without a healthy OLine.

  4. Pickgrin Says:

Yes – and history is likely to repeat itself if Jason Licht doesn’t quickly do something about his lack of inside offensive line depth.

As it sits right now – Feeney is the first guy off the bench if something happens to either Bredeson or Mauch…. And we’ve seen how that movie ends.

Dan is ‘Dangerous’ alright…. dangerous to Baker Mayfield’s health…..

We have a few good back up OTs – NONE for inside – unless you want to throw the rookie Guard from Notre Dame out there before he’s ready….

Licht absolutely MUST find a veteran backup Guard who is capable of holding his own against starting NFL defenders. The Bucs do NOT currently have a player like that on the roster – and are literally 1 injury at any of the inside line positions away from disaster – AGAIN…..

  5. Lt. Dan Says:

I for one am very excited by what Ben Chukwuma brings to the table. An UDFA that looks like he’s going to be a pretty good swing tackle…awesome!

“Our D-line is going to be something nasty,” Wirfs said. “… They definitely bring the juice over there.” Refreshing!

I saw that interview, and Wirfs showed off his new braided hair. Methinks having an afro would add cushioning for his brain? (LOL). Love me some Wirfs – one of the better picks by the Bucs.

Can’t wait to see our “new and improved” go up against Wirfs and see how they can do against a premier/elite tackle.

    Go Bucs ! ! ! Let’s get it !

And how many millions did he rake in with the Bucs because they insisted he start and play even though causal fans could see on TV he was the worse player on the field. That is my #1 reason both Licht and Bowles need to go. I’m still pissed about that.

  8. MadMax Says:

Thats why I was hoping for Iaone, but had a feeling baltimore would get him right before us, but it worked out. D will be nasty now with Bain and Trotter, 2nd year rook Walker hopefully making it back. I shook my head at first seeing our 3rd used on WR but after seeing Hurst, I think that will end up being a great pick by Jason and his team….( I wanted Oline there, but all good).

Still need to address CB if we can as cuts are made and other teams start dropping guys….Jason’s on it im sure.

  9. MadMax Says:

^^^^^^ dude, you cant hit on them all, but Jason has way more hits than misses….so stfu!

Who would you have selected? And do you suggest they cut a first round pick after 2-3 years? I personally like the fact that this team gives all their picks every opportunity to succeed, that’s why almost no players get cut and go to other teams to be successful.

  11. Saskbucs Says:

Pickgrin… they aren’t gonna. I agree with you but I doubt a move is coming unless someone gets cut.

How many teams are cutting useful OL.

I’d like Chukwama to be cross trained at G. I know nothing of those possibilities, maybe that’s not even an option but I know the Bucs have not been shy about cross training OL in the past.

  12. Stpetematt Says:

It’s much easier for a tackle to become a guard than a guard to become a tackle. Chuk would need a ton of functional strength I’m not sure he’s built up yet to play guard. He’s certainly been working on his strength. He needed more to play tackle too but his footwork is excellent.
