Should The Bucs Have More Urgency To Re-Sign Baker Mayfield?

May 9th, 2026

Joe had an eerie déja vu moment listening and watching Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht talk to Kay Adams this week.

Licht’s trip to the Up & Adams show, seen on FanDuel TV, included a question about the Bucs’ desire to give Baker Mayfield a new contract.

Licht was loving on his QB, even talking about where the two would consummate a contract extension.

“I kind of foresee when it does happen, we’re doing it at a dive bar,” Licht said of Baker signing a new contract. “That’s just kind of the type of people both of us are.”

Beaming into the camera, Licht also explained how good the marriage is with his QB.

“We think the world of Baker. I know that he loves it here,” Licht said. “And usually things tend to work out when you have those two things working for you. So, I’m sure the time will come when we will do that. There’s no timeline right now. … I’m sure we’ll figure it out at some point.”

Well, 26 months ago, legendary Bucs receiver Mike Evans was talking publicly about wanting to be a “Buc For Life,” and Licht was echoing the sentiment with a big smile after Evans signed a new two-year contract.

Evans now plays for the 49ers.

What happened with Evans is unclear. But what is clear is that the Bucs farted around and didn’t drop a “Buc For Life” kind of contract extension in Evans’ lap after the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

Perhaps Mayfield and the Bucs are on track to sign a new contract and that process is in an appropriate place. Or perhaps the Bucs are getting Evans comfortable, which can be a dangerous road.

Right after Licht talked about Mayfield, he was asked about the departure of Evans. Licht’s face dropped and his demeanor changed. Referencing why Evans left, Licht referred to that as “for whatever reason it was.”

3 years at 45-50…draft Mestemaker next year to sit for a year or two.

  2. 40 year Bucs fan Says:

I think baker is the bridge qb to the eventual franchise qb, for licht to only draft two QBs in 12 years is irresponsible and shows he can’t scout or evaluate college QBs. Baker is gonna be 32 and has shown he’s average, his career shows that. Idk why Jason can’t or won’t even try to find one.

  3. Sal Volatile Says:

I still stand by my previous comments.

  4. Britt Says:

He is exciting to watch when he scrambles, he is tough, and he is a trash talker. I love those characteristics, but he is limited and is a middle of the pack QB in the NFL. He goes through long slumps every year. I really want to see him without 6’-5” Evans for a full year, because last year he was trash without him. I have never been sold on him as a true franchise QB. Over the past 3 years he has had one of the best skill player rooms in the NFL, but if we back up a brinks truck and waste all of our salary cap on a sub par qb and then have no money for the talent around him he will go back to being a low tier qb and we will be bottom of our decision again.

  5. 3rdmatic Says:

No, Baker is way too inconsistent, never shows up in primetime games and usually stinks against good teams. I don’t hate the guy, these are just the things I see in the games. I wish he was better but he’s just below an average QB. I wouldn’t want to tie up cap in him if he is not capable of winning a Superbowl.

  6. westernpennafan Says:

I love Baker as do many around here do. Except for the green eyed girly boy trolls who can’t tell there dumb esses from the nearest hole in the ground. We all know who they are [Bee, Muncher etc.].They need to sign Baker and lock him in.
Oh the girly boys don’t agree trade him to the Steelers. I’m from Pgh. With that defense and McCarthy rebuilding the O line The Steelers will win the next three Sbs.per Bowls.. And yinz will say that could have been us.

The trouble is that from the time he got here he was treated like some kind of wicked outsider who did stack up against Marcia [TB12].But you dummys never got it. That was a bought Super Bowl, It was all the hired mercinaries that won that not Marcia. Look what happened when all the hired guns left. Losing and cap hell. In comes Baker and makes th depleted team relevant again despite the Cap hell. And Baker was subjected to micro focus and the fake news propaganda. It was all about ME13. But Me13 got ols before your very eyes. But you local Braindead insisted on scapegoating Baker.
    \
\Well Mike is gone now and I feel for him. He made a terrible mistake which he will soon be regreting. You see Mike is not and never was a 49er. Now he is the outsider. If he gets hurt those 49er fans will turn on him real quick. Mike is going to miss home real bad beause he is no longer with the guys he cme up with.

I saw this happen to the Steelers. All the free agents the team turned to didn’t create the same magic that the home grown Steelers did, Just like Dungy’s teaam. Tomlins later teams just didn’t play like the real Steelers because they were not real Steelers. That includes over the hiil Aron Rodgers. Big Ben was a true Steeler from the beginning. And Tmlin rode him until father tome cught up.

You can say tha applies to Baker too. But not so . Since he got here Baker has made the team his team one game at a time ,one play at a time andone player at a time. The Bucs look ready to win another title and when they do it will be because of Baker.

Go Bucs! But if the Bucs don’t want him I am sure the Steelers would. I live here now and much prefer to see Baker write his story here.

  7. Ben Says:

I think they definitely should. The offense was good enough to win majority of the games last year, the defense is awful. Mayfield was injured last yesr and had a bad OC and multiple injuries on the oline. You coukd tell he didnt trust the backups in front of him after he got injured. I think he is a top 10 QB and has shown flashes of top 5. Other teams will pay him without question, fans have a short memory from mid 2000s to Tom Brady where the franchise was desparately trying to find a QB. Now that we have one, we arent patient for developing and working with him?
One could argue he had a late start. Had a couple good years in Cleveland as a rookie, one that any GM would love for a qb early in his career. He got injured and was thrown to scrap heap for no reason other than the Browns. The next 2 years he was buried.
Essentially his carerr in Tampa should be seen as a reset and pick up where he left off in Cleveland. He has shown growth aside from mid year last season when he got injured.
The fact we are sitting here debating is wild, esp since this franchise has never shown to be able to draft and develop a QB.
This should be on Tampa to help Mayfield reach his potential as well. Keeping a defensive minded HC and letting every OC walk isnt his fault. How do you grow with constantly rotating OCs?
Tampa is in a very good position with Mayfield. Is he consistently elite? No, but Hurts won a superbowl and so did Darnold. Mayfield can win with Tampa, but Tampa needs to make the right moves to improve overall.

  8. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

3 year deal, start drafting a qb every year

  9. DanBucsFan Says:

Opinions vary, but Baker is everything you want in a quarterback, most of all he is a great leader. It honestly scares me to think about our team looking for a new qb and going back to the decade of depression days. We are a relevant team now, did the sh#t the bed last year..absolutely. We are a playoff team every year and teams don’t look at the schedule and circle a W when they see us anymore. Imo Baker is a big part of that and Licht hopefully learned something when Evans left and that’s to not always assume as it sometime makes an ass out of you and me. I would love for us to sign Bake for a 4 year deal at he has easily another 5-6 good years left in the tank at 31 years old.

  10. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

There is no rush to sign Baker. Baker has had ups and downs his entire career. He finally came into his own when the Bucs signed him but last year took a turn for the worst when his minor injuries started piling up. I think the Bucs will wait till mid season to make sure Baker still has it in him.

  11. Lakeland Says:

If Jason Licht had any confidence in Baker Mayfield
He would have extended him long before now
Right now the Bucs brass are exploring their options
And misleading the fanbase as usual

  12. Ben Says:

One other point I’d like to Make. Mayfield has been disrespected from the start. Set rookie QB records with the Browns his first year, took them to the playoffs for the first time in 20 years. Cleveland soured on him bc of his attitude and injury, but if it wasnt fir Deshaun Watson signing, he would have been there longer. Then he goes to one of the worst franchises in the NFL and prob the worst coach in the NFL at the time in Carolina under Matt Rhule and there is a 3 way carosel for QB. Half the time he is riding the bench and prob down in the dumps. Mcvay in LA gave Baker anothrr chance who balled out in a last minute stsrt. He would neber be the starter there with Stafford but showed glimpses of what he was as first overall pick. In Tampa the positives more than outweigh the negatives and yet here we are debating paying him. For context, Mayfield has been the lowest paid QB since he arrived here, second now to Makilk Willis who just became a starter in Miami. Tampa has been getting a discount for years. Time to pay and overpay a little even, he deserves it and Tampa needs him

  13. Lakeland Says:

You have to remember, our offense averaged 16.8 ppg, during the last 7 games
You don’t need to pay a QB $55 million for less than 17 ppg
That money can go somewhere else to improve the team
You pay for production and wins

  14. Buddha Says:

Great post westernpenna. Precisely correct. Baker is heart and soul. Pittsburgh is a working class city…a melting pot! Evans was a great player now in the twilight of his career. The 49ers are a team with a great coach and a terrible GM. The Buccaneers are a franchise with a mediocre coach and a terrific GM. The last two super bowls have been won with QBs no better than Baker. The all world QBs in KC, Buffalo, Cincy, Baltimore, Los Angeles, and San Diego were not enough to even get into the Super Bowl.

  15. BucsfaninOregon Says:

I’ve watched pro-ball for more than 75 years. Seen QB’s like Bobby Lane, Otto Grtaham etc. Some QBs are great from the get-go. Some not. But, the good ones (Stauback) have “it”. The so-so ones (Jamis) don”t. Baker has “it”. We are lucky to have him. Pay him!

  16. Marky mark Says:

People on this board are mistaken in that they think resigning or not is based on performance. It is not. It is based on interest from the other 31 teams. Right now there is no demand for Baker. Another mistake on this board is that no demand for the player means they suck or lots of demand for the player is they are great. Again no correlation. Look at Depervert Watson. The Browns were rushed into a disastrously bad decision due to high demand. Baker had no demand and has worked out a lot better than Watson. The demand differences were probably based on non football reasons. People have not gotten over Bakers immature antics in college. Their loss. No reason to rush into this. After 10 games if he is having a 2025 season resign him.

  17. Marky mark Says:

    I meant 2024 season.

  18. Jim Hennessey Says:

Or just maybe Licht talks a bunch of BS

  19. Kenton Smith Says:

Let’s explain facts to the ignorant. Without Baker Mayfield the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are irrelevant. That’s not to say we can’t find another quarterback. But QB savants don’t grow on trees. Baker isn’t signed yet for one reason. It’s because Baker isn’t ready to sign yet. Ain’t no big reason to be in no big dang hurry. Except for the fact if they don’t get it done before the season kicks off it’s not going to get done. I’m quite sure every other team in our division would sell the farm for him. And that’s just for starters. So would at least half a dozen other NFL teams. FAFO.

  20. Sal Volatile Says:

I may be wrong but I don’t envision the Bucs’ “maximum” and Baker’s “minimum” aligning. The franchise future and Baker’s career future are out of sync. I still believe he may ask for a trade before camp.

  21. Elite Vita Says:

Sign Baker and use draft choices to build a better team around him. This would bode well for the next QB obtained as well.Baker has been our best QB in years so building a better team for the future IMO world be our best bet.

  22. Lakeland Says:

If a NFL GM is so in love with a QB

He won’t be talking about resigning him
The QB wouldn’t make it to the final year of his contract
The deal would have happened a long time ago

Jason Licht love playing mind games with this fanbase
They are not completely sold on Baker Mayfield

  23. Oneilbuc Says:

Ben . It wasn’t the defense fault when Baker threw a pick and lost the Panthers Dolphins and Saints and eagles game. Even looking at the Patriots game the score stayed 21 &16 14 minutes and 30 seconds in the third quarter. The score didn’t change until 3 minutes left in the 4th quarter where was the offense in between those times defense kelp giving the offense the ball and Baker couldn’t do anything. Baker is not a franchise quarterback and that’s why Jason Licht haven’t resigned him yet. It doesn’t take this long to resign a player especially a quarterback if you believe he can win a Superbowl. Baker has choked in every big game when the game was on the line with the ball in Baker hands and I’m not talking about week 4. Baker is not a franchise quarterback he’s a bridge quarterback.

  24. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Baker got paid already. Got a $30M roster bonus that was due March 20th.

    Base salary is $10M

    That’s $40M to play in ’26.

Licht has been saying the same thing about an extension since the restructure and tbh, an extension could’ve been made out of the re-structure.

Joe even wrote about Licht sounding uncommitted to a hard “no” or “yes” and says something like “Baker is on our minds” or “Baker will bounce back” doesn’t sound like a guy jumping to pay a guy he’s already in the bag $40M, large.

  25. Oregon Buc Says:

If you are a long time Buc fan then you know that Mayfield is already one of the best QBs in franchise history. Easily in the top 3 (Doug Williams, Brady, Mayfield). Does he drive fans crazy sometimes with bonehead throws? Yes. Does he wow us with his aggressive plays? Yes. At the end of the day, we’re supposed to be entertained by the product on the field and he is damn sure entertaining to watch. I wanna see if he makes a jump this year after falling off at the end of last season.
I say sign him to an extension but I think there is some tension there in negotiations that nobody is willing to admit publicly. Could very well be a Mike Evans situation coming up…

  26. View from 132 Says:

Doesn’t he have to beat out the new guy from Cincy in camp? Being the second best QB in Cincy isn’t an insult. Burrow is excellent.

I wouldn’t sign Baker long term. Unless he can win it all, he’s Jeff Garcia.

    This is spot on

  28. Oneilbuc Says:

Kenton. Don’t know other team wants BAKER as they’re franchise quarterback and I remember you talked about the Rams getting him next and they would win a Superbowl with Baker and the Rams drafted a quarterback in the first round. Baker only had 2 good years his whole career and choked in every playoff game when the game was on the line. Jason Licht ain’t sold on Baker Mayfield like you and the rest of his fan base. The only way they resign him is if the bucs get to a NFC Championship game and I wouldn’t mind that at all. But either way the bucs must draft a quarterback in the first round next year. Baker is not a franchise quarterback at his age especially when he’s never been a elite quarterback.

  29. ToesOnTheLine!!! Says:

I vote pay the man! Reason 1…it’s not MY money; reason 2…Baker has shown more flashes of franchise QB play than any other QB not named Tom Brady that the Bucs have had on roster in decades; and reason 3…if it all goes in the toilet with Baker we’ve seen other teams (Denver comes to mind) find a way to dump their over-paid QB (hello Russell Wilson!) and get right back into the playoffs in a relatively short timeframe. I would imagine from the perspective of billionaire team owners that paying to extend Baker is a relatively low/medium risk with high reward potential move?

  30. Obvious Says:

What happened with Evans is clear.

And no we should not be in any hurry to sign mayfield to an extension.

If we want some security then give him a 3 year deal that’s reasonable. If he won’t go there let him play out this season. If you’re worried about him balling out and being a FA EOY, that’s what the tag is for.

  31. Bosch Says:

Is it the Bucs that lack urgency? Or does Baker want to keep his options open?

Let’s be real here. We do know why Evans left for San Fran. He has no confidence Bowels can lead this, or any team to a Championship. How could that not lurk in the back of Mayfield’s mind.

  32. 28.3.Evans Says:

    F Mike Evans

  33. Lakeland Says:

    ——————
Ummmm – what?? You believe Baker is going to ask for a trade before camp?!

That doesn’t make sense to me. I would be shocked if that happened.

Baker can be a great QB and can be below average all in the same season – which concerns me. Will a healthy solid online and some help from our D, I believe Baker can take us to the promised land. He HAS to take better care of himself like Brady did. Live to play another down instead of trying to run over some dude for an extra yard. He has to change his aggressive approach while running. Keep talking crap and have that edge, but limit all contact.

  39. Stpetematt Says:

Anybody that isn’t completely sold on Baker knows nothing about football. Simple as that. 20+ teams would be bidding on him were he to be a free agent. This team better work really hard on resigning him and *SOON*!

  40. Kenton Smith Says:

Chew on this fans. They have already offered him a long term contract at 50 million per. That’s not gonna be enough, and Licht has already learned that. Being a GM is a tough job. He will be signed soon enough. And for the best QB in football, 50 million isn’t near fair. Look at what Prescott is getting. Expect Mayfield to set the curve.

  41. Tampa2ATL Says:

Sign Baker. My hope is mutual understanding of how cap flexibility is critical to compete for championship each year. See Tom Brady.

  42. Mobucs Says:

I agree with people who think it’s good for the Bucs to be relevant. Baker makes them relevant. Not signing him now gins up interest, as is obvious from all the threads on him here. As soon as they sign him, they will have to come up with something else to get attention. like the beginning of a new season, when he’s back on the field. Serves everybody’s needs, even Ms Adams’, to have somebody interesting to talk about. If he’s not inked before the season starts, that, too, will gin up interest, but not in a good way. Don’t forget that the Bucs have absolutely no other possibility for having someone to line up behind center who is capable of signing a contract stipulating that he be a starting QB in the NFL.

  43. Show Me Your TDs Says:

No. The photo used for this article says it all. There is a flip side to moxie, fire, etc. It’s immaturity, and with Baker it comes out at the worst of times when the season or playoff game is on the line. Seattle, lead by the steely-eyed Sam Darnold, won the SB. Baker and the Bucs watched the playoffs. BTW, I kind of agree with stpetematt on one thing. 15 middle of the pack teams would probably want Baker. If staying mediocre is your goal then go for it. I think Baker, along with Bowles, is holding this team back and wasting some players’ best years.

  44. MelvinJunior Says:

It can’t be a top of the market deal. There is ZERO reason to do it now, especially if you’re just going to do THAT. Teams I think, are starting to get a lot smarter with these mid-level starters. Only bad desperate teams (Colts this year) will do it for a guy like Baker or Jones. The right ‘offensive’ PLAY-CALLER HC (which we don’t have right now) can and will make due with A LOT of ‘mid-level’ starters like Baker and Darnold. There are LOTS of good QB’s in the league who can play and play awfully well, under the right circumstances, with everything ’clicking’ with the right HC/GM, and roster. Build the ROSTER. This current group of players, coaches, and GM can’t win. We need to be thinking and making moves geared towards our longterm FUTURE. Again, build the ROSTER FIRST. Collect as MANY 2027-Picks at the deadline, as humanly possible. Set yourself up to hire THE premier HC/GM at the top of next offseason’s carousel. This current Bucs team (with Baker) is going absolutely NOWHERE. Bottom-5 in the NFC. That’s the ONLY place they’re going.

And, DON’T Draft a QB in 2027 (unless, you’re picking number-1 AND it’s a once-in-a-lifetime ’generational’ talent)… Build. The. Roster. FIRST. Sign a Bridge (with the right head coach/GM). THEN, look to make your move by drafting your ‘franchise’ QB on a ‘rookie’ deal, at the perfect timing, just when it’s about time to start extending all your STARS that you’ve accumulated. And, don’t look back for another 10+YEARS. The Bucs Ownership is just like the Steelers… SCARED TO FRICKING DEATH of a rebuild, and tearing it all down. You’re only delaying the inevitable. Ask a single “Steelers Fan” if THEY have been happy for the last I don’t even know now, for how many YEARS!!!!

  45. MelvinJunior Says:

I agree 💯 with Colin Cowherd (a big Baker Fan) on this one… I like Baker at $35-MIL. But, once you get over that $40+MIL mark (especially longterm guaranteed), ahhhhh… Not so much.

  46. Lakeland Says:

I believe Baker agent and Licht are miles apart on a new deal
    It’s easier said than done

Baker is a “middle of the pack” QB
But his team probably want Top-5 money

  47. capebuc Says:

Do you have knowledge that Mike even wanted a contract extension in 24/25?

  48. Steve V. Says: Says:

A ” middle of the pack qb” that’s thrown over 90 td’s the past 3 years only second to Goffs 100 ,Ide keep him!

  49. Goodbuc'nlife Says:

I’ve always viewed Baker as just a JAG. He possess skills that are valuable but he has the capability to lose a game himself. He has a slight Jameis way of a turnover that’s a
back breaker. He’s just good enough to truly root for, then again, he can devastatingly disappoint. It’s a strange dichotomy. He reminds me of the way Steelers fans must feel..just good enough to make the playoffs each year and loose in the first round. IMO he’s not the long term answer. My problem with this is that. We will be just good enough to tolerate the mediocre success, and never be in position to draft a STUD at the position. We have always been that way. Shawn King, Brad Johnson, Jeff Garcia, Chris Simms, Josh Freeman, etc. etc. Good, but not good enough. Brad Johnson doesn’t get a pass because he won a SB. Our defense won that. Hopefully my take on Baker proves to be off base. We have the pieces, we just need consistency with the signal caller.

  50. Lakeland Says:

Did he do it in 2025?

NFL players are graded on their performance during the previous season
They don’t grade them on past performances, years ago

  51. Lakeland Says:

Zyon McCollum was a top CB in 2024

People here are still calling for his job, because of his performance in 2025
So, why is Baker Mayfield exempt from criticism for his 2025 performance??

    Explain that one to me

  52. Ben Says:

@Oneilbuc – QBs make mistakes, the good outweigh the bad. I’d argue if the defense didnt give up 40 plus vs the Bilks and let the Saints and Carolina AND the falcons, the dolphins wtc back in it then we’d be in playoffs. When healthy and the oline healthy Baker is a good QB

  53. Todd Says:

    …and his hamstrings.

  54. Stpetematt Says:

Lakeland stop spreading nonsense. An average of 40%+ of the offensive line was out all year. No protection means no production. And **THAT’S** certainly not Baker’s fault. And the GM better know it too or he’s gonna scr3w this team forever.

  55. Sal Volatile Says:

    As I see things through Baker’s eyes;
    1. OC is a big uncertainty.
    2. DC ” ” ” ” .
    3. HC. ” ” ” ” .
    4. Evans left for a reason and I know that reason.
    5. The defense QUIT last year and I know the reason.
    6. This is a much different team than last year with many unknowns.
    7. I’m not getting any younger and am in my prime.
    8. I’m not likely to finish my career with this team and am not sure I want to do so.
    9. I want at least a 4 year deal.
    10. It seems clear to me that the owners and front office are unsure of me fitting into their long term plans.
    11. They may feel unsure of me as a player.
    12. Is there any reason for me to want to stay here other than the city and weather ?
    13. If I ask for a trade all heck will break loose and the front office does not need that.
    14. If I do ask for a trade I just might get it.
    15. What do I have to lose ? If they really wanted me it would have been obvious.
    16. If I suffer a major injury during camp or during the season I may become a backup QB for the remaining years of my career.
    17. Do I really care if I P.O. this outfit ?

  56. Jmarkbuc Says:

    I’m with WBL and Obvious.

Why be in a hurry to pay him? If he has a great year, good for him he’ll
either get paid here or somewhere. No lose situations for him.

If he reverts to the mean, which he often does, we’re not tied to him on a long term expensive deal.

Have to factor in that Bud Licht and Kit Kat may very well not be here next year 🤞🏻. That would impact the teams decisions…

  57. Saskbucs Says:

Ben is right. Pay the man. Even if you don’t love Baker, what’s behind door #2. As far as I can see, nothing better unless we have a top 3 pick.

ONeilBuc… you mean the Pats game where the D gave up 3 explosive play TDs of over 40 yards?

You mean the Dolphins game that Quinn Ewers was able to do what he wanted out there vs the D?

The Saints game where the D forget to cover Shough as a runner and let him toss it around the yard?

Get a grip. Baker sucked last half of the year but all you guys trying to assign blame to one guy are out to lunch. We lost those games for a multitude of reasons. Baker sucked, D sucked, OL was injured, special teams sucked and Bowles sucks.

Bowles is responsible for the D and ST as HC. Didn’t fire the dead weight coordinator. There is only 1 guy that needs to be let go and we all know his name.

  58. Ben Says:

@ Show Me Your TDs what other option is there to sign a top 10-15 QB with Top 5 upside? The FA QBs on the market will have the same concerns. Draft a QB? Oh btw this team has neber been able to draft and develop a QB. Steve Young, Vinny Testeverde, Shaun King, Chris Simms, Josh Johnson, Joh Freeman, Mike Glennon, Jameis Winston, Kyle Trask. What makes you think thwy can easily do something they havent done in 50 years?

Some of these takes are boneheaded. Sure you want a better QB, then stop letting OCs walk every year and pump resources into supporting Baker. If he walks mark my words this team is toast.only reason not to resign him is if Baker is the one holding things up because he has never had stability in his career let along tampa, the tean is nickel and diming, the HC is a bum and could be gone next year, who is the next HC and will he get along with Baker? Any team that does not have a decent QB will be IN on Baker and wont be afraid to pay him. Its the way the NFL works. Pay him. 3 years.

  59. Bonan Says:

I like Baker, but he isn’t special. No urgency to resign.

  60. JA Says:

Funny. Many here say Baker gets no respect, yet those same people demand we give it to him after a 2-7 finish.
Baker aside, with the exception of Mahomes, what NFL city wouldn’t want to run their QB out of town after that final 9 game stretch?
I can’t think of one … other than here in Tampa.
People here claim, “I’ve been watching football for decades, and if you don’t like Baker you know nothing about football. Also, you’re an idiot!”
    Really?
When did 2-7 become a badge of honor?
    Cue the excuses.
Baker loses to first start rookies. The Miami game alone should have given the most loyal Baker fan pause. But not here. In Tampa, you’re labeled a hater if you want to see your team improve by seeking better players … at all positions!

  61. Sal Volatile Says:

    As I see it through the owners eyes;
    1. Unless Robinson dazzles like his buddy did we’re stuck with Bowles for 2 more years or we tear it down after this coming year.
    2. There is too much uncertainty for us to extend Baker for more than one year.
    3. The 40mil range is our limit.
    4. Baker won’t take a 1 year 40mil extension, that would infuriate him.
    5. Maybe we could trade him before camp and salvage something.
    6. Boy did we screw up !
    7. But that’s OK we have lots of $$$$ and that’s just the way it goes in this business.

  62. Jack Says:

Pay scale for QBs (and a few other positions) is completely out of whack.

None of them deserve over 50 mil per year!!!

Having said that, if Tua and Goldilocks in Jax, Jordan Love, etc etc etc are making it then Baker deserves it too.

Newsflash for those living in an alternate reality:
Todd is the head coach and Baker is our QB and if your panties are in a wad over either that’s just too bad. Better hope you’re wrong if you want to see the Bucs succeed 👍🏼

  63. ModHairKen Says:

No. Play it out. If he does well, sign him to another 3 year contract.

If he won’t sign, tag him.

    This is business.

  64. Todd Says:

I am sure Licht drooped and hated the question about Evans , because that brings us to Lichts’ endorsement of Todd to continue as coach after “The Debacle”.
Everyone likes to namby pamby around and say they do not know if Licht endorsed keeping Todd after last year, but do you really think Todd would be the coach still if Licht had NOT endorsed him and in fact told the Glazers ” Hey I like Todd alot, but he lost the room after the Rams game and I believe it is time to move on”.
Of course Todd would be unemployed had Licht not endorsed him. This is why Licht detests questions about why ME13 left, because he knows some aggressive and smart media person will eventually get the truth and that will NOT look good for Licht.

  65. Steve V. Says: Says:

    Can’t fix stupid

  66. Orlando Kevin Says:

Evan’s left because the defense couldn’t stop the Falcons with 3rd and 23

  67. Oneilbuc Says:

Evans left because Baker threw a pick and lost the Panthers game!!

  68. Kenton Smith Says:

Highest passer rating minimum 5 playoff games nfl history. 95 TD passes last 3 years. 2nd in the league. 3 playoff appearances, knocked out once in first round, tied the game up and Washington held ball last 5 minutes to clank one off the posts. Washington never punted and ran 70 plays to our 45. He’s playoff money. Don’t even dream to bring up Detroit playoff game. I was there! Detroit ripped off 200 plus yards and 2 TDS in the fourth quarter for crying out loud! After Baker tied it in the fourth quarter with his 3rd TD pass! Seems like a huge portion of Bucs fans are clueless. I’m not sweating it and I bet Mayfield isn’t either. Management is sweating it. Why? Because, whew! That’s alot of money! And I ain’t whistling Dixie.

  69. Brad Hiers Says:

I agree with those who say Baker deserves more money under a new contract. But I’m not sure it wouldn’t be smart to see how he plays this season since he’s still under contract. I love Baker, he’s a fighter and a top ten NFL quarterback. Heck, he beat the Super Bowl Champion Seahawks on their turf last year. So let’s see how bad he wants the big Bucs (money) and let him play his tail off for em.
If Baker has a great season they’ll compensate him for it before he reaches free agency.
I think Baker will play harder with the money in front of him not in his pocket.

Go Bucs !! Go Bucs !!

  70. Bartow Buc Says:

I agree with those who say Baker deserves more money under a new contract. But I’m not sure it wouldn’t be smart to see how he plays this season. Since he’s still under contract. I’m a Baker fan all the way but I think he’ll play better with the big Bucs in front of him instead of in his pocket.

    Go Bucs !!

  71. DBS Says:

Osqueel please tell everyone how you personally know Mike Evans. Also tell everyone where you and Mike where when he told you the reason he left.. Everyone has already figured out you are Cyr Baker Cry Bowles son.

  72. Trevor Says:

This is Licht and Ownership viewing this as part of the Bowels gambit. If the team “turns things around”, wins 10+ games and a playoff game or two, then bring back Baker at whatever price (assuming he was a significant part of those victories). If the season goes south again, and Bowels is fired. Then the new HC coming in can be offered “we’ll sign Baker if you want him, or get whatever QB you want from the draft”.

Not signing Baker means that having him QB is not a requirement for a new HC. And I love Baker, but he’s not the type of player you force on a coach.

  73. Keith Says:

You delusional bucs fans that are gonna chase him outta here baker deserves top 5 money period

  74. firethecannons Says:

No extension for Baker, use the tag if he is good. Last year Baker was NOT good and Not good enough for an extension.

  75. Rod Munch Says:

He played like complete trash from week 7 on, singlehandedly cost the Bucs the playoffs. There is no reason to reward that collapse. He’s got a year left on his deal, let him play it out and see what happens, if he bounces back or if he’s what he’s always been, which is a completely inconsistent QB who loses every big game.

  76. Saskbucs Says:

Enough with the hyperbole and non sense.

Baker single handedly lost games!? I didn’t know he played 22 positions and called plays!

If Evans doesn’t cut his route off in the ATL game, Baker doesn’t throw a pick there.

I guarantee if Chiefs are up 14 with 8 to play and Mahomes throws a pick because of an unfortunate miscommunication with the WR and the other team torches the D to win… Chiefs fans are not mad at Mahomes. Wake up people.

Who is playing QB next year if not Baker!? I’ll wait… and I’ll wait cause you geniuses don’t have an answer for that.

  77. Saskbucs Says:

On top of the stats Kenton has dropped.

First QB in 20 years to take the Browns to the playoffs. Thats something.

Never had the same OC for 2 years running. Not easy.

Had turnstiles at G for most of the year. Not easy.

Had a rookie playcaller that the HC himself said was outta his depths.

Are you guys nuts? Baker is fine, he just can’t be allowed to play injured and needs to protect himself a bit better without losing the fire. Bucs gotta understand this and force him out if he loses accuracy playing hurt and trying to do too much. Simple as that.

  78. Rod Munch Says:

Now the Baker Boi(s) are claiming the single worst INT I’ve ever seen a QB throw, in the 4th quarter of that Falcons game, was because of Evans? LOL! What morons.

Also amazing how Baker can singlehandedly win games at the beginning of the year, but when he plays like trash and loses games, it’s the defense, it’s the receivers, it’s because of anything but Baker being what he’s always been, which is a very inconsistent QB.

BTW, Baker is 2-9 in primetime and playoff games since coming to Tampa.

  79. 813bucboi Says:

No rush to sign baker…..he’ll choke once again when the pressure is on…look at the month of December….that’s who baker is

    GO BUCS

  80. Lakeland Says:

Baker Mayfield stunk the field last season
He should be paying the Bucs

  81. LynchMob50 Says:

Baker is one of the main reasons ME left for the West Coast.

He wanted as far away from the inconsistent turnover machine as possible.

He’s just not a pressure player and likely never will be. Don’t waste the money.

That can be spent on better defensive players to help run a Swiss cheese scheme.

Bowles is the other reason Mike left. He actually wants to win another SB.

  82. Jeagan1999 Says:

    A. 6 years, $240million
    B. 5 years, $210 million
    C. 4 years, $180 million
    D. 3 years, $150 million

    Take your pick!

  83. Mobucs Says:

If the Bucs franchise tag Baker, as some suggest, he will be paid the average salary of the top five QBs in the NFL. I’m glad to know that you appreciate his true value. He’s just an average top five QB.

  84. LynchMob50 Says:

That’s stupid money for a QB that can’t hit a lick.

    He’s already way overpaid.

  85. Saskbucs Says:

Rod needs to get an eye exam.

Haven’t we went over this with you before? Did you watch Jameis play for the Bucs? Baker hasn’t even cracked the top 20 of worst picks ever thrown.

Are you telling me you didn’t watch Baker step up, Mike think it was a scramble drill, hit the binders and go the other way just as Baker was releasing the ball? You are a moron Rod!

I’ve said numerous times Baker sucked to finish the year. Rod has never said who he is replacing Baker with. 22 guys, team sport, team around Baker has changed, what’s Bowles prime time and playoff record ?

Go read my posts again and open your fat skull to realize I’m right. 8 OCs, one who sucked last year, playing hurt, no guards. Guy has proven the last 3 years he’s a top half of the league QB and guys wanna run him outta town. Idiots.

Kenton. Don’t know other team wants BAKER as they’re franchise quarterback and I remember you talked about the Rams getting him next and they would win a Superbowl
    ====================================
Don’t know why anyone would pay attention to someone who writes “they’re” instead of “their.” Works both ways, Oneilbuc. If you are going to critique Baker performance, we get to critique you. You, Munch and the rest of the anti Baker crew deserve Shedeur Sanders.

  87. LynchMob50 Says:

Shedeur Sanders is vastly superior to Baker Mayfield. It’s not even close.

The Bucs should trade Baker for Shedeur. Throw in Bowles for a sweetener.

We’d then make the playoffs without Todd’s defense.

And likely get to the NFC Championship game at minimum.

  88. BucaneroJim Says:

Evans went to the West Coast, because the Bucs are trading Baker from Purdy and giving SF 50 mil. Pretty obvious.

  89. Oscar Says:

Lakeland says we averaged 16.8 ppg over the last 7 games. Naturally he started with the Rams game in which we only scored 7 points. He didn’t include the Bills game in which we scored 32. On top of that clever cherry picking misrepresentation, his math is off. We scored 128 points over the last 7 games divided by 7 equals 18.8, not 16.8. The Bucs were blown out by the Rams in that game and Baker only played a half and was injured. As per usual, none of the Bucs points over those last 7 games were scored by the special teams or defense. Lakeland has been drawn over to the dark side joining Munch! I didn’t always agree with Lakeland but he always seemed so levelheaded and fair in his posts.

  90. Well well well Says:

Rod Munchalot, BM6 actually has the #1 best of ALL TIME career playoff passer rating. No QB plays better in the playoffs according to the NFL. And don’t forget it moronic chump.

Rod Munchalot, BM6 actually has the #1 best of ALL TIME career playoff passer rating. No QB plays better in the playoffs according to the NFL. And don’t forget it moronic chump.

    ————-

Baker is 2-3 in the playoffs, and here’s his last two playoff games…

at Lions; Bucs down by a single score, have the ball, 2 mins left, 3 timeouts, Baker in the biggest game of his career, in the biggest spot of his career, promptly goes out and throws an INT and the game is over.

vs Redskins; defense makes a huge 4th quarter goal line stand, give the ball back to the offense with a chance to go up two scores and put the game away. Baker promptly goes out and fumbles the ball, losing the game.

Also literally no one cares about passer rating. That stat has been broken for decades, and rewards QBs like Baker who just dump off the ball on 3rd and 13 for 5 yards because it greatly overvalues completion rating. Meanwhile, QBR shows Baker to be a very middling QB – which matches his on field performance, and his 2-9 record in primetime and playoff games while in Tampa.

  93. Rod Munch Says:

    Saskbucs Says:
Are you telling me you didn’t watch Baker step up, Mike think it was a scramble drill, hit the binders and go the other way just as Baker was releasing the ball? You are a moron Rod!

    ———-

You’re not even talking about the right game – you’re referring to the Panthers game. On that play, it was bang-bang, but video clearly shows Mike had already taken a step up field while Baker still has the ball in his hands. I said at the time I don’t blame Baker since it was happening so fast, but if you want to actually try to blame someone, then it’s on Baker since Mike had already taken a step and changed his direction. But one way you can blame Baker on that play is to look at the ALL22, Baker had two wide open receivers, Otton and Godwin, to his right. Otton was an easy 8-10 yards, Godwin was more around 15 yards – no one around either one of them. Instead Baker panicked and tried to force the ball to Mike who wasn’t open in any case.

The INT that Baker threw vs the Falcons in the 4th quarter is the one I said is the worst INT I’ve ever seen. Absolutely no pressure, no one around, just flat out threw the ball to a Falcons player in the most critical part of the game. Well, scratch that, the most critical part was a couple of series later, when Baker just had to complete a pass I could have thrown for a 1st down, which ends the game, and instead Baker flat out misses the throw.

Baker was trash last year from week 7 on.

If it was just injury, then great, he comes back this season, plays great, gets a huge new deal. But there is no reason in the world to extend Baker early, not when he was so bad in crucial moments. You should not be rewarded when you’re doing such a bad job you get the entire offensive staff fired.

  94. Usfbucs Says:

No the Bucs shouldn’t rush to extend BM. If this season goes like last we will be moving on from BM and the coaching staff. Also we all know this already but next years QB class is looking deep.

  95. Oscar Says:

If you value QBR more than Passer Rating, then Baker is slightly better than middling, finishing 12th in the NFL in 2025 , ahead of Herbert, Lawrence, Williams, Nix, Goff, Darnold and Hurts among others. In a down season for Baker. Neither metric is all telling and both systems have their flaws.

  96. Ben Says:

@JA – when Bowles stops letting his defense get blown out by below average and backup QBs I will start to blame Baker. You can blame a 2-7 finish on Baker. Evans said it best 3rd and 28 LOL! Baker may not have played elite down the stretch, guess what injuries will do that to you and when your o line is so banged up they cant protect Baker, Baker is just going to be uncomfortable. Every QB has bad games. it takes a full team to win. Baker can play and the good outweigh the bad. Some ppl just dont remember the 20 years without a respectful QB.

  97. Buc1987 Says:

    Tank for Arch!

  98. Stpetematt Says:

Shedeur Sanders better than Baker? You’re joking, right?

Baker is a top 6-7 QB in the NFL. He has potential to go higher. And I think he will. Protect him and he will produce. Also- SIGN HIM NOW!!!

  99. MadMax Says:

I hope Baker doesnt look at this site….one of the best getting killed by some of you a holes! You know who you are…disappear when the team is doing good but the first on here to blame him when they arent. I dont get it, simple minds i guess….low iq bottom feeders looking for relevance in a comment section from their backroom of mama’s trailer somewhere.

  100. MadMax Says:

@87, yo man, whats up…check out Mestemaker….we’re probably picking around teens again, and he would be perfect.

  101. Stpetematt Says:

Oh and Munchichi stop bringing up the prime time games. They aren’t worth any more than any other regular season games. If that’s the best you can do for “evidence” you make me think you’re just an AI stuck in a useless loop. If your passer rating is high and your team is still losing, the team is underperforming. And forcing you into desperate comeback attempts. Baker hasn’t had a good defense since he got here. He’s about to have one.

He also didn’t have an O-line last season so there’s that…
In 2024 our entire secondary was out with injuries and of course useless Dean was in the training room for the playoff game when we needed him most..

Last time our team was healthy in the playoffs we won the Super Bowl.

  102. Show Me Your TDs Says:

Hate to write this, but when it comes to Baker I am in agreement with Munch. Also, I would rather legitimately lose games, lose Baker and blow the team up. Being stuck in an 8-9 purgatory for eternity gets us no where.

  103. Oneilbuc Says:

Stpetem. At 31 years old is what it is with Baker Mayfield players don’t get better in they’re 30s they start going down. I’ve never seen so many excuses for any quarterback like you guys give Baker. Jamies had a worser defense , o line, running game and the division was way harder and yet he got blamed for every lost regardless of what happened. And I told y’all I was going to show y’all that you guys don’t call it like you see and now look? All those 32 ranked defenses 30 ranked running game and trash o line I was told those were excuses . I was told he is the quarterback he has to find away to win. And now it funny to me how now the team and coaching matters now. But the point is y’all pick and choose the players you like if you don’t like them then they’re is no excuse but when you liked a player then the coaches and team is a excuse . So now I know a lot of you guys evaluate players base on how you feel about the player personality. So when the bucs do draft a quarterback next year he will be evaluated different harder and the excuses y’all give Baker he won’t get none of those excuses watch and see.

  104. Oneilbuc Says:

Baker only had 2 good seasons so far in his career so it’s NFC Championship or bust this year or less in the playoffs he plays like he did against the Texans that year we lost to them when he drove down the field and scored and the defense gave up a TD and lost the game. The bucs must draft a quarterback in the first round next year regardless if they resign Baker Mayfield.

  105. Okiejim Says:

If Baker balls out in 2026 and the Buc’s win 12+ games, they might draft the 3rd or 4th best qb available, unless they trade down. On the flip side, if Baker believes he is being disrespected by the Bucs, would not surprise me if he calls it done and walks completely away from the game! The Haters will yell free drinks in every bar in Tampa and find another to hate.

  106. Well well well Says:

I’ll say it again Munchalot, the NFL refuses to use ESPN’s QBR, REFUSES!!! GET it through your thick shull. Their passer rating is what the NFL uses, they like it and Baker leads the leaguevin it!!!!

  107. What it is Says:

Baker also is the only qb to have a perfect passer rating at Lambeau field!!

  108. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

If Baker had been our qb in 2020 we would’ve never sniffed the NFC Championship game because against the Stanks he would’ve folded like a cheap lawn chair in the Florida heat. It was too close, too much of a pressure moment and they had the momentum at the time. He would’ve thrown a pick or a turnover to lose that game. Baker is only exceedingly good when things are going good for the team, but once that momentum disappears the quicksand comes out and he channels his Infameis Jamiss America’s Turnover Machine. This has been his m.o. his whole career, the biggest d tease in all of football. Shows so much promise as a great qb but shows more than enough scrub moments to offset that feeling of pure extasy to convulsions of ultimate defeat! Only sane and intelligent fans are able to see the great and horrible things about Baker. He is a bridge qb who needs a great defense to win anything of substance.

How long do you go with a qb whose basement is as deep and wide as his ceiling??? Having a coach like Bowles also keeps us middling with a qb like Baker who cannot overcome their mistakes.

So now we got a new Bakermuncher on board in westernpennfan who calls Baker detractors girlie boys when since Baker’s signing with the Bucs they have been the ones up here screeching and calling anybody who doesn’t praise him names. I’m pretty sure they did it up on the Browns, Panthers and Rams fan boards since they follow a grown man everywhere he goes like a bunch of female Beatle fans. Fanbo(is) are the worse form of male fans in the country.

Baker doesn’t deserve top tier money but he isn’t the bottom of the barrel either . I don’t see many qbs better out there who can keep the Bucs relevant in a good way. The question needs to be asked how long do you stick with relevance and simply rip off the bandage and get younger by drafting a good rookie?

  109. Rod Munch Says:

    ————-

That’s why the Bucs should just have him play out this year and see what happens. If Baker can finally win some games when it matters, then you reward him. If he collapses in the biggest moments, like he’s done his entire career, then you start the rebuild (which would make sense as you’d be cleaning house anyways).

  110. Kenton Smith Says:

Munchabunch. Mayfield has not ever in his career choked in the final moments of a game. Ever. If the Bucs think they will sign him by making him prove it another year? Not a chance. Licht is playing with fire if he thinks he’ll toy with Baker. If Baker plays his final year without a contract he will play as he always does. As one of the elite clutch QBs in this league. But there’s no way he would ever sign another deal with the Bucs and the money won’t have anything to do with it. That’s why he’ll be on a new deal in the near future. And the market price is going to set the market for QBs. Huge, Rod! Man alive, it’s gonna be massive. And Licht will be grinning like a dirty dog when they have the signing. Because he knows what you don’t know Muncheverythinginsight. Baker Mayfield won’t ever come along again in his career. And nobody resembling his skills will either.

  111. Oneilbuc Says:

Okieji. I can agree with you on that if Baker ball out and we get to a NFC Championship regardless of what his stats say I would resign him because that’s one game away from the Superbowl. But I will still draft a quarterback in the first round to sit behind Baker because his age. He will be 32 next year and a new contract means he going to be around 34 wich means his career will over as a starter.

  112. Oneilbuc Says:

Kenton. I’m sure you said that about the Panthers, Cleveland and the Rams on their team sites which means you are not a real bucs fan. You just a Baker fan you are no different than the people that came on here because of Brady and now all of them are gone and you will be gone to the next team site Baker is playing for. . That’s why your comments and the rest of y’all that’s here because of Baker Mayfield really doesn’t matter. For the people on here regardless if they agree about Baker or not wants the best for the team. Even if we have different views about the team at the end of day none of us is hoping Baker Mayfield plays bad because we are real bucs fans. We hope are want Baker Mayfield to fail we want to win and Baker Mayfield hasn’t done that yet in big games when the games are on the line and the ball is in his hands. And I’m not talking about week 4 and 5 I’m talking about playoffs and games like that Panthers and Dolphins game or the falcons game when he could have closed out the game on that drive instead of throwing a pick which means 3rd and 28 don’t happen. That’s what real franchise quarterback does.

  113. Mobucs Says:

Every time an item mentioning Baker appears, the same people come out with the same old negative comments. No games are being played; there is no new data; opinions have already been formed. Repetition is not an argument; it’s propaganda. The topic of the Bucs’ negotiating with Baker is of interest because over the past few years management has failed to secure the services of successful people, e.g., Dave Canales, Liam Coen, and Mike Evans. Probably some other, less publicized names, too. I think that context makes the discussion more interesting.

  114. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Mobucs they’re negative only to those who have their heads buried in the sand or in different parts of Mayfield’s anatomy. He has been what he has been, at times great and as many times inconsistent and horrible. You can’t look at the good like his fans and not look at the bad. He is the leader on offense and our offense can be a inconsistent as he has been. We will never go far with him and Bowles together because neither can make up for their mistakes

  115. Mobucs Says:

DavidBig: Insult isn’t argument; vulgar insult is not persuasive. I assume, of course, that you had a point.

  116. Kenton Smith Says:

Oneilbuc. I was responding to Muncheseverythingbutthekitchensink. You say a true franchise QB has to win important games? 2023. Final game of season. Panthers. Panthers. Too injured to play but of course coach decided he gives us best chance. Wins. Then 2 playoff games, 6 TD passes. Most TD passes any playoff QB 2023 season. 2024 Final game of season. Saints. Had to win. And get Mike his yards. Did both. Went to playoffs. Highest QB rating in the history of the NFL playoffs to lose a playoff game. 2025. Final game of season. Had to win. Just to have a chance. Of course he won. Three years in Tampa. Three opening wins. Three closing wins. Three playoff games. With a team that wasn’t fit to win shlt. It wasn’t Brady’s team. Vegas said we’d win 4-6 in 2023. Luckily, I gambled on that one. Baker Mayfield may just be the best quarterback in the league. He’s killing the Mahomes and Allen’s and Lamar’s of the world these last 3 years. And I ain’t whistling Dixie.

  117. Bye Baker Bye Bowles Says:

11 years/1.2 billion…if he’d take it.Baker is so selfless it wouldn’t surprise if he would take such a undermarket deal that will grossly overpay him at the backend. If we don’t, Mcvay has his sights set on him and Pittsburgh will back up the brinks truck. Its hard to hoover around .500 and finish with a offense ranked in the 20s.

At 31, Baker is the Nfl all time leader in “moxies” and ” chips on shoulders” and will only continue to add on it. Every time he goes back to pass “The Touch” by Stan Bush blares out the stadium.

Meanwhile… at Detroit, 2nd round of the playoffs, 2 mins left, 3 timeouts, down by a single score… Baker comes out and throws an INT on the 2nd play of the drive.

vs Redskins at home, literally the very next playoff game Baker is in, the defense makes a huge 4th quarter goal line stand, gives the ball back to the offense with a chance to go up multiple scores and put the game away… and Baker promptly fumbles the ball, losing the game.

But yeah, he’s just as clutch as Tom Brady in big moments. LOL!

Baker won’t ever be any different under the Blowes regression coaching program. He has peaked. He will continue to flash, fail and disappoint. It’s fact.

Interesting how the half dozen or so HATERS appear on subjects that interject Tampa’s current QB, but even more those the HATERS call the BAKER BOYS and verbal duel between logic and hate. Question for both, how many of the top QBs in the league have played for 3 or more head coaches and/or offensive coordinators in the last ten years?

Kenton. That year and the last game against the Saints we win the division because the Falcons lost and that gave us the division. Winfield JR closed out that game with a fumble in the red zone. Baker threw a pick last year and lost the Panthers and Dolphins game that would have put us in the playoffs. And to be honest bro playing in a division like this shouldn’t come down to the last game of the season and it’s not all his fault but he plays a major role in it and now he’s 31 years old and he’s never been a elite quarterback . So him playing until he’s 40 ain’t going to happen and plus the way he plays the game. Now we get to a NFC Championship I wouldn’t mind giving him a 3 year extension with the third year being a option year. The bucs must draft a quarterback in the first round next regardless if they snig Baker or not.

  122. Bye Baker Bye Bowles Says:

Okiejim: off the top of my head, the currently 28 year old sam darnold who came into the leauge the same year as Baker. The guy coming off back to back 4000 yard/14 win regular seasons with top 8 mvp finishes-with different teams in historically tough divisions. Thats one. Took the 6-11 Vikes to 14-3 and the 10-7 Seahawks to 14-3. Carry on.
