Lavonte David Doesn’t Like To Say “Retired”

Lavonte David

Buccaneers legend Lavonte David doesn’t seem to want to say “I’m done” when it comes to playing football.

Joe has heard loads of Lavonte David interviews since he retired and, again yesterday on SiriusXM NFL Radio, David doesn’t like to say be 100 percent definitive about never playing football again..

In fact, David said he has a physical reaction to seeing posts from Buccaneers social media because they tug at his love for the game and for being part of the team.

“It do give me a little bit of chills, but like you said, man, I’m not playing football this year and I don’t think I’m playing football again, so I just gotta find a way to combat that,” David said on SiriusXM NFL Radio.

It sounds to Joe like David is struggling a bit with his decision to hang up his cleats. It’s understandable. He had a postseason surgical cleanup on the knee that messed him up all last season and feels good now.

And Joe suspects all the additions to the Bucs defense have David tossing and turning at night.

For the Love of God when will the LVD stories end? This Guy was not a Real Media Friendly player during his playing days and now we cant go a day without hearing something from him. HE IS DONE! HIS PLAY SHOWED IT!

    PLEASE GO AWAY NOW!

    @Truth be Told…Wow!

  3. Mort Says:

TBT: stuff it, man. Lavonte gave everything to this team for 14 years and became a hall of fame player. He can do as many interviews and generate all these posts all he wants because he’s earned it. One of the greatest to ever do it.

  4. JimBobBuc Says:

He knows Bowles’ defense better than any current player and maybe better than some of the coaches. He might be valuable as a coach or mentor this year.

  5. Buccanstopit Says:

Well, with all his media interviews this offseason, he belched he took plays off. That means you’re done son. Become a coach to younger players like the Bucs now have on D.

  6. 28.3.Evans Says:

    Try saying retrded LVD.

  7. HopeIn1Hand… Says:

Despite David’s many unforgettable, productive years his loafing/quitting last season before he retired has torpedoed my regard for him and all this uncharacteristic yapping is the opposite of endearing. I’m with Truth be Told. I thought he was starting a ministry when he retired not going on this LVD for HOF tour.

We all have our own post mortem conclusions about the 2025 collapse but a couple of mine are: He went out a quitter and along with Bowles I lay 3rd and 28 and it’s aftermath squarely at his feet.

The player I imagined him to be for years would not/could not go out like that. I can’t wait for him to fade into obscurity and for the new LBs to reignite my excitement to watch the Bucs play defense.

  8. Hodad Says:

We have coaches, we have mentors. David is done. Admitted loafing. Dude, take a yoga class, play some golf. Remember your family? Spend some time, take a trip, anything but football.

  9. KABucs Says:

    Truth be told = troll
Not a true Bucs fan for sure.
Give LVD his due… will be in the Ring of Honor sooner than later.

  10. KABucs Says:

It’s pretty simple, if you see an article about LVD and you don’t like it, don’t read it.
    No cancel culture at JBF.

Does anyone have an update on Kamara Mohamed? I’m just wondering what are his chances of making the 53 man roster.

  12. ATLBuc Says:

I kinda hopes he comes back for another year. To redeem himself for his mediocre play and to mentor Trotter. Mike Evans had Vincent Jackson and it shaped his career.

  13. View from 132 Says:

Move on. He’s not on the team. 13 is not on the team. The dudes on the team are on the team. That’s it.

  14. Erik with Clean Athletics™ Says:

If his knee feels good and he has his speed back, he should come back and play.

All the greats retire and then unretire and come back for at least 1 more season.

  15. Saskbucs Says:

    Stay away Lavonte.

I imagine his body could do it, especially if the knee is right, but his mind has moved on. Otherwise he wouldn’t be kicking himself about loafing and not meeting his standard.

I wanna play hockey again cause the game is fun, get exercise and there is money in it… but I don’t take the time to get in shape then I don’t feel good enough out there, I don’t like the travel anymore, the whole process around the game is a chore. Can’t be half in.

  16. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

    Fans really are fickle

  17. Anyhony Says:

We can’t here from Lavonte but we have to here from Truth be Told….. SMFH!!!

  18. Bucnbeers Says:

When the money stops rolling in it’s hard to say retired.

Watch the Max Crosby interview, David has invested his money well. The Suh effect.
