Bucs Don’t Avoid Cold Weather

May 14th, 2026

Todd Bowles spoke on national radio yesterday about what he looks for first when the schedule comes out.

Based on what he said, he’ll like one thing about the 2026 schedule released tonight and hate a few others.

Bowles looks for the bye week first, he told The Jim Rome Show, and Joe knows Bowles prefers a midseason bye. He got one. It’s week 10 after Tampa Bay plays the Bears on Sunday Night Football. Bowles said his bye interest is very much personal, as in when he gets a week off.

Bowles also said he is dialed into cold weather games. Unfortunately, the Bucs got three.

Per the National Weather Service, a typical early November night in Chicago is breezy with temperatures in the 30s. The Bucs also head to Carolina on Nov. 30. That has chilly potential. And the kicker is at Baltimore on Dec. 13. Joe sure hopes Rueben Bain is loose, warm and ready to chase Lamar Jackson all over the field.

After that, the Bucs close the regular season with dome games (New Orelans and Atlanta) and home for the Rams and Saints.

The 30th is a home game.

  3. Patrickbucs Says:

We’re at Carolina on October 25th, here against them on November 30th for MNF. Sure it’s been a long day:) that helps with the weather though.

  4. ‘74 Bucs Fan Says:

The only potentially really cold game is Baltimore. We got lucky. Great schedule. No long distance travels, great bye week, no back to back road games. Can’t beat that!

  5. Rod Munch Says:

Bucs get 3 hot games, maybe 4 if it’s still hot for the Steelers game, all against teams from the north. So that more than balances things out.

  6. Football 1 Says:

Wow the Rams at home scary. Hope Morrison and McColumn are benched or it could be another big game for the Rams. I know I keep harping on both those guys, but really those guys were awful last year!!!. I really hope neither plays. I think the Bucs are gambling with them big time!!!.

  7. Vanessa Anne Says:

    Recent history:

Average temp at 8pm on November 8th in Chicago: 40-46 degrees.

Average temp at 2 pm on December 13th in Baltimore: 43-47 degrees.

    Google search.

  8. Pops Malone Says:

Off to Cincy I go for the opener! Yahoo!

  9. Todd Says:

    Yawn

  10. Ricky Says:

Morrison is our best corner. But as long as we have coach “when is my 1 week vacation” we will never win.

  11. Stpetematt Says:

Hi Joe- the guy that will probably be shadowing/chasing Lamar Jackson will be Keionte Scott.

  12. Bucs Reality Check Says:

Why do we play the Rams EVERY FREAKIN YEAR?

  13. Buc1987 Says:

    5-12.

  14. Oscar Says:

Chicago in early November is not as bad as December or January. Carolina in October is nothing. The worry might be rain. Baltimore in December is not bad weather generally speaking for football. Could have been a lot worse.

  15. adam from ny Says:

nov 8th – in chicago should be manageable…it’s only a week after helloween…

dec 13th – in baltimore has problematic temps written all over it…mid december, and on the 13th……..geez

  16. adam from ny Says:

i have us penciled in for losses already in both games…

chicago…guys could be checked out and thinking bye week by that point…

    baltimore in december…………….fuggetaboutit

  17. Idroolpewter&red Says:

The worst game weather-wise should be Baltimore in December. Can’t believe we got all the Great Lakes games except Chicago either in Tampa or early in the year or indoors!

  18. #1bucsfan Says:

87 when is the last time the Bucs won 3-5 games. Go head and look it up. Troll.

  19. 3.28.Evans Says:

It’s a 17 game schedule, but the Bucs retained their overachiever. Under this coach, Bucs might lose 20 games. Awesome. Go Bucs!

  20. BuccinBaker6, Says:

This is the best schedule the Bucs have had in Years Let’s Go thank you schedule makers for not killing the Bucs like you do every year things look pretty good for the Bucs right now

  21. ScottyMack Says:

Quite a few cold weather teams coming down to hot, sunny Florida at the beginning of the season, though.

  22. ATLBuc Says:

We could be 9-0 at the bye week.

  23. Fanofdabucs Says:

Really Joe? A October game in Charlotte is a “cold” weather game?

They really only have 2 potentially cold weather games. The Chicago game at night for sure . Baltimore at 1pm in December could be cold, could also be perfect football weather.

    Nothing to see here.

  24. 3.28.Evans Says:

“ We could be 9-0 at the bye week.” ???

Could happen. Also helicopters could show up, hover over us and drop loads of cash on our heads, then Jennifer Lawrence shows up with a kegger to celebrate followed by…..fun.

Actually the latter scenario is more likely but, yeah.

  25. Brandon Says:

It doesn’t get cold in the mid-atlantic region until after Halloween. We’ll be fine in October. Even Baltimore in mid December has the likelihood to just be cold and not freezing. Upper 40’s low 50’s is likely.
