Adam Schefter Thinks Baker Mayfield Is Obsessed With Browns-Bucs Game

May 20th, 2026

“Baker, I know what they tell me.”

Remember the Bucs’ almost miraculous Week 3 home win against the bumbling Jets last season? Soon afterwards, Baker Mayfield ranted about how the Jets’ defensive coordinator cut him off the Panthers’ roster three years ago.

It was funny and ridiculous. The Jets assistant coach, Steve Wilks, was the Panthers interim head coach in 2022 when the team released Mayfield.

Wilks was presiding over a Carolina franchise tanking from the top. It already had traded Christian McCaffrey and others, and Wilks obviously wasn’t calling the shots.

Still, Mayfield was angry at the guy three years later.

In Week 2 of the 2026 season, the Bucs will host the Browns, Mayfield’s original NFL team. Cleveland gave up on Mayfield after the 2021 season and went with serial creep DeShaun Watson and paid him a king’s ransom.

NFL super insider Adam Schefter believes Mayfield is locked in on that Cleveland game.

“How much do you that game is going to matter to one Baker Mayfield, the quarterback the Browns made the No. 1 overall pick at one point in time, who they moved on [from]? We know how much Baker has kept receipts,” Schefter said on the BSPN podcast that bears his name. “We know that he’s aware of all the people and all the teams that have written him off. The first NFL team to write him off was the Cleveland Browns … Buckle your seatbelt.”

Joe hopes Mayfield doesn’t pull a Jameis Winston and get overly jacked up before that game and then throw an interception on his opening pass, a Jameis tradition. And Joe also hopes that Week 2 game is not a must-win for the Bucs after a loss at Cincinnati.

  1. 813bucboi Says:

If Baker is still worried about the browns, he needs to grow up….

he should be focused on the present and future…not his past failures

he hasnt cashed in on any “receipts” he’s kept yet…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  2. Lakeland Says:

Baker couldn’t cut it in Cleveland
They should have gotten rid of him
Teams don’t dump quality QBs, they’re too hard to find
The NFL is simple, you play good, you get paid
You play poorly, you get replaced

And that’s exactly what Cleveland did

  3. Steve V. Says: Says:

Cleveland replaced him alright! With the biggest bust in NFL history you would be from another planet if Cleveland didn’t regret it

  4. BucsfaninOregon Says:

    WARNING!!!
The above two posts are created by two guys who wouldn’t know a good QB if the shared a phone booth. For your sanity please ignore.

  5. 813bucboi Says:

    WARNING!!!

the above poster couldnt spell CAT if you gave them C_T!!!

    PLEASE IGNORE!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  6. Oxycondomns Says:

if it means hes at zac robinson house like brady was at leftwich house than great , otherwise its just a distraction

  7. MelvinJunior Says:

I’m sure he is (and Falcons). Cause, to Baker…. EVERYTHING is always, ALL ABOUT Baker.

  8. Football 1 Says:

I hope the only thing he is thinking is that he doesn’t want to lose that game like any other game. However, It appears Baker likes anything that gets him fired up. I know his teammates definitely will not want to lose that game no doubt about that.

  9. WillieG Says:

Hopefully DeShaun Whacksome plays. That would be a blast to see.

  10. Lakeland Says:

There’s a reason why Baker is playing for his 4th team
Any sane person will recognize the reason

He’s not a top tier QB
    He’s middle of the pack

  11. Steve V. Says: Says:

@Bucgurl and Bucsfanny ! You 2 were made for each other,im sorry mommy wouldn’t let you two play She knew it would’ve just embarrassed your Dad

  12. Bee Says:

Nah, he’s obsessed with the Atlanta game. He’s on Stefanski’s meat so much that when a journalist tweets about the coach Baker replies like he’s talking to Stefanski. Lol

  13. Saskbucs Says:

    Lakeland… you just contradicted yourself.

Teams don’t throw away middle of the pack QBs! You sign them to a reasonable salary which Baker has been playing under and you build around them.

Browns have been doing great since Baker left! Surprised you didn’t notice that. The QB who took them to the playoffs for the first time in 20 years played injured and sucked and they gave up.

Cleveland fans wish they still had Baker and didn’t give up $200 million for a washed abuser who has barely played.

Absolutely moronic statements you have been making. Baker better be focused on improving under our new QB coach, Whitmer, who is supposed to be a stud and then focusing on how to shred the Bengals. Then he can turn to the Browns.

  14. Lakeland Says:

Baker Mayfield ceiling is 9-10 wins
Maybe one playoff win, at most

But, if you have Super Bowl aspirations
He’s not the QB for you

  15. Kenton Smith Says:

Sascbucs. I hope Baker learns something from Whitmer. I really hope the new kid from Kansas can improve enough under Whitmer to make for good competition with Browning. Stefanski thought he had a better chance with a QB with a torn labrum and fractured shoulder. Our team would have benched Baker if it would have improved our chances last year.

  16. Oxycondomns Says:

i mean trent dilfer was a super bowl qb . heck bucs may have won super bowl with dungy if he played dilfer instead of king.

  17. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Last time Baker played the Browns was 2022, the season they dealt him.

How’d revenge work out for him that time?

    16-27
    235 yards w/ 1 playing accounting for 75 yards, so 15-26 160 yards(bleh)
    1 TD
    1 INT
    4 fumbles, but none lost.

You can see this same type stat line in a lot of the games he’s played since arriving in Tampa in ’23 or you can turn a blind eye and tell us how he’s tops in yardage & TDs thrown in that same time frame, but 2nd behind Geno Smith with 37 INTs in those same 3 years.

  18. Lakeland Says:

Baker Mayfield problem is giving the ball away, in crucial moments of the game
If he turn it over earlier in the game, we can regroup and rebound
He has way too many 4th quarter turnovers

  19. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

Baker had to leave Cleveland because the competition was too stiff once Watson got there….

  20. Bucblind II Says:

As usual 813 fails to grasp reality. He says Baker hasn’t cashed in any of his receipts. I am pretty sure Baker took a 1-41 team, the worst in history, and in 3 short seasons beat Mahomes in the 2021 AFC divisional game. The only reason Baker didn’t take that team to the superbowl was due to the refs failing to call a helmet to helmet or targeting call that cost them the winning TD. Thereafter everyone agreed it was one of the worst no calls in the history of the game. It’s easy to see a helmet to helmet hit, especially in slow motion over and over again. The powers that be had decided Mahomes was going to win because Baker beat him and everyone that knows football knows he did. So I would say that is a HUGE cash in. Baker is the only qb to take a team that was THAT BAD and in 3 short years should have been in the superbowl. You just can’t beat the refs. And you can’t legitimately say he didn’t do it because everyone knows he did. Since there was no penalty called they couldn’t “officially” review it but everyone agreed it was one of the worst no calls in the history of the game. It was dubbed “targetgate”. No qb has ever took a team that was 1-41 and in 3 years be good enough to be in a superbowl. No qb but our qb. As soon as we get a good team around him we will be in a superbowl ourselves.

  21. toopanca Says:

The whole team’s obsession should be something like sweeping the entire AFC North! While they are at it, shoot for also sweeping the NFC South.

The Bucs have the horses on the field to do it if the jockeys on the sideline are any good.

The odds are always long against sweeping any division. But, surely any obsession worthy of mention sets a higher mark that beating Cleveland.

  22. Well well well Says:

    BBBB said deadlifts??

  23. 813bucboi Says:

    Bucblind II

    ????

you gotta do better than that lol…baker is very mid lol

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  24. Bucblind II Says:

813, I don’t have to do anything, BM6 has already done it. We are lucky to have him as our qb. Plenty talented enough to take us to the promised land as soon as we can fill the holes with good teammates.

  25. Teacherman Says:

Tom Brady and Baker Mayfield both have huge chips on their shoulders.

    And so do I!!!

  26. 813bucboi Says:

    Bucblind II

    What has he done?

    9-8- 1 playoff win…choked vs DET with a 4th quarter INT
10-7- made the playoffs…choked vs WAS with a 4th quarter fumble
8-9 no playoffs- winless in DEC..5 4th quarter turnovers in DEC-CHOKED

but you think we’re lucky to have him!!!????

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  27. SlyPirate Says:

Baker is the perfect QB to keep fans amused during a rebuild.

    He’s a clown. He’s fun.

He’s Winston minus the off-the-field issues.

    He’s not a winner.

  28. Hodad Says:

Dude, let it go. Maybe he shoulda worked harder at being a QB instead of an insurance saleman. The house Baker got evicted from.

  29. Oscar Says:

Just because the Panthers got rid of McCaffrey and perhaps made other roster moves as well does not necessarily mean that Wilkes didn’t have control over who played at QB at that point. Baker requested to be released after being told he would be third on the depth chart. I obviously don’t have inside intel as to who made that decision but if someone does have that information, they should say so instead of assuming that Wilks didn’t have input as to who would play on the field. I can’t imagine Baker getting mad at Wilkes if he knew it wasn’t his decision to bench him. I think players know if a coach isn’t in their corner.

  30. exBrowns02 Says:

The actual “drama” surrounding the whole Browns/Stefanski thing has been heavily amplified by the media, which is understandable, because drama sells.

  31. darengibo Says:

Brady was similar in wanting to “punish” those that wronged him or specifically drafted ahead of him, signed instead of him etc… He and Baker are wired to hold the grudge.

  32. JimBobBuc Says:

Schefter doesn’t mention talking to Baker or a friend of Baker. Pure speculation just to get hits. As long as Baker plays well, I don’t mind any chips on his shoulder.

  33. BillyBucco Says:

We really don’t know what Baker can do staying healthy except for 2024.
That’s the major rub with him. He has all the weapons he needs to just be a system QB who sometimes wins games for you but doesn’t lose them.
A hurt Baker ain’t winning anything.
Hopefully Daniel’s is a diamond in the ruff.

  34. MikeBuc Says:

For anyone who is new. we don’t really have that much Baker haters. Its just that the kiddies know they are in the minority so have multiple accounts to make it appear there’s more of them than there actually is

  35. Lakeland Says:

The problem with these trash QBs like Baker and Jameis
They were #1 draft picks, the first player off the board
They were drafted with high expectations
They wasn’t drafted #1 for a team to suck with them
They were expected to be franchise QBs, the future, the face of the franchise
They suppose to be “Elite” the best in the business

You don’t expect for them to become a journeyman QB
But that’s exactly what they are

  36. Obvious Says:

Jordan was really the only guy I can remember that was able to leverage the chip on the shoulder/disrespect for the long term. But if you believe some ppl he made a lot it up, except with Thomas.

Maybe he’s just using it for extra motivation. That strategy isn’t as sustainable as just focusing on improving and playing with a calm mind.

  37. Saskbucs Says:

All you geniuses think better QBs grow on trees!

2018 is a historic QB class.

Panthers jettison Baker and Darnold… would you rather have Bryce Young?

Houston has a great D and a 2nd overall pick at QB who just threw 4 playoff INTs… you want Stroud more cause you gotta pay him the same as Baker now.

Browns have a battle between Deshaun Watson who hasn’t played in 2 years and a 5th round pick.

How may high picks have the Jets had and now they got a recycled Geno Smith.

The Bucs go 7-10… have the 12th overall pick. Who is your QB next season? If the teams ahead don’t blow it you end up with the 4th best QB in the class… which is what you say Baker is!

Sick of you clowns. This team isn’t held back by Baker, it’s held back by Bowles and a soft D.

Baker didn’t fumble vs Wash , a rookie botched the handoff and a rookie botched a snap… maybe the OC shouldn’t have called a jet sweep at the 5 yard line.

Also, how many of Bakers picks in the 4th quarter were in Bucs territory? Where was the D after that?

  38. BehavedBuc Says:

I hope it does get him fired up. We need guys that find an edge every week regardless of the opponent.

  39. mj Says:

bakers biggest problem is his inconsistent play, he could have the best defense in the world and still throw fourth quarter picks… until he proves otherwise…

  40. Fanofdabucs Says:

    Lakeland,

The Browns have had like 26 different QBs in 10 years. Saying that the Browns have done anything correctly when it comes to the QB position is a joke and completely laughable.

Since 2000, the Browns have had 42 different starting QBs. Forty-fing-two!!

And Baker has the best winning percentage in Cleveland than all 42!!

Get the f out of here with that nonsense.

  41. ‘74 Bucs Fan Says:

Baker is maybe slightly above average imo and I would not extend his contract until we see how this season plays out. If he blows, then draft a QB with our pick in the top 10-12. I’d rather watch a new QB cut his teeth than watch Baker continued average play.

Ideally, Baker has a great year and we go deep in the playoffs. He gets his extension and we’re set for 3-4 years.

  42. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“2018 is a historic QB class.“

Nobody is looking at that class as historic and thinking immediately about Baker Mayfield. Get real, they’re going to talk about Allen & Jackson, while mentioning what Baker coulda been after saying “Darnold won a title before them all”.

Uncle Rico 100% t-Rexed that handoff, J-Mac never had control of that football, but Baker did until his little hands lost grip.

Also amazing how some of you pivot to talking about the defense any time Mayfield is being scrutinized. Sask talking about where they were after turnovers like “going back on the field prematurely with no points generated” isn’t the answer. We would’ve shut out NOLA had it not been for a Mayfield fumble

Also 5 of his 6 2nd half TDs came within scoring range with exactly 1 happening against Philly 15 yard off the ball, remember that? Defense stymied Philly the entire 2nd half and the offense came out committed 2 turnovers

  43. Fanofdabucs Says:

By comparison the Pats have had like 7, the Bucs 16, the Chiefs 9.

42!!! And you’re defending them dumping Baker.

    Priceless

  44. Lakeland Says:

You can’t compare Baker Mayfield to other QBs Cleveland had

They spent the top OVERALL draft pick on Baker
Do you actually know what that means?

  45. Lakeland Says:

The Raiders just spent the top overall draft pick on Fernando Mendoza
Do you think the Raiders will be pleased with him being a BUST
The #1 draft is pick, isn’t an ordinary draft pick
He’s expected to become “Elite” , a franchise QB
Cleveland drafted Myles Garrett with the top overall draft pick
He’s still with the team, why was he sent packing?

    Because he’s been producing
As a top overall draft pick should produce

  46. Stpetematt Says:

    Lakeland,

During the draft you had a few things to say that were intelligent and seemingly well-thought-out.

You have been disappointing me ever since.

  47. Lakeland Says:

    “””why wasn’t he sent packing”””

  48. Lakeland Says:

    Stpetematt

    These are facts

  49. Stpetematt Says:

If the offensive line stays healthy, this year’s offense will look a lot like 2024’s.

    Except even *better*.

  50. Stpetematt Says:

No, they are opinions. Even the Browns own fans were smart enough to be urging them not to do what they did.

  51. Lakeland Says:

I’m not manufacturing lies about Baker Mayfield
I’m speaking actual facts this stuff isn’t made up
Baker Mayfield isn’t a victim, the Bucs fans are the victims
We are victimized by his inconsistent play
The dumb turnovers during critical moments of the game

    He’s not immune to criticism

  52. Mobucs Says:

Someone gave some stats from Baker’s last game against the Browns, his first game for Carolina. And now the rest of the story. The Browns built up a big lead, and in the second half Baker brought the Panthers back to take a 26-24 lead, with less than a minute remaining. Carolina’s defense then gave up a drive that led to a game-ending 50-yard field goal. Something familiar about that scenario for blaming Baker for every loss. Speaking of the Panthers, that year their record after trading Christian McCaffrey was also better than before they let him go.

  53. Stpetematt Says:

The. Browns as a team sucked when they drafted him. He lifted the team up. They got rid of him. The team went down the tubes.

They should have built a team around him instead of being impatient and opening themselves up to be taken advantage of. Which they were made fools out of completely.

  54. #99 the big fella Says:

The hate for Baker is ridiculous. I truly hope he makes all you morons Eat your words. And who do you geniuses want for a replacement? I’ll wait.

  55. Buc1987 Says:

Cleveland is and has been a dumpster fire.

    With or without Baker.

#99 the big fella…they’ll have no answer for ya.

  56. Okiejim Says:

Thanksgiving of 2026, a few of you will get turkey or ham, but the rest will only get crow!

  57. Lakeland Says:

    The hate?

Or do you mean the facts are ridiculous

  58. Lakeland Says:

These same Bucs fans rode Jameis Winston for 5 years
Now they’re on Baker Mayfield hype train
I really feel sorry for these fans, they have so much hope

  59. Lakeland Says:

Baker Mayfield is easy to replace
It’s not that complicated replacing an average QB
Jason Licht and Todd Bowles are stuck on Mayfield
Just as Licht was stuck on Jameis Winston

  60. Buc1987 Says:

#99 the big fella….see… still no answer.

  61. Surf Says:

    Replace baker with whom?

  62. Saskbucs Says:

WBL… maybe historic is a strong word but that’s the best class in a long long time. Where did I say it’s because of Baker? Baker is a 10 year starter, Darnold is a SB winner and the other 2 prolly reset the QB market or close at some point and have multiple MVPs. I’m pretty sure it’s already talked about as a top 3 class.

The point I made about Baker being 4th best from that class and then guys wanting to draft 4th best in a class next season is the point. Maybe he’s better but he’s an unknown.

Don’t be thick. Unknown is the key word there.

Of course I talk about the D. It’s a team sport. Mahomes had more picks than Baker! You think they all ended up in his endzone or going for 3 to lose the game? No he has Spags and some competence on the other side of the ball. Baker had the 29th ranked red zone D hahah. The pick vs Atlanta was at their 35 an our D immediately gave up the booty.

Don’t 100% me on that handoff. JMac starts looking for a path upfield before he secures the ball. Baker just had 4500 and 40 and you guys act like he shouldn’t have the ball in a playoff game.

Bowles called a fine game but Quinn called a better one going on 4th all game. Bowles, having the 4th ranked O in the league (!) should have matched that and played 4 down ball. Simple as that. Give Coen and Baker 4 downs almost every series they win that game no problem. Once again, soft coaching blew it !

  63. Lakeland Says:

We got a dumb GM that don’t want to replace him
I would replace him in a heartbeat
I would have benched him last season

  64. Okiejim Says:

Said loud and often, as an organization from top to bottom, the Bucs have no structure or discipline! The ? self-discipline is the only reason the Bucs were able to win their last Super Bowl!

  65. Jimmy Says:

    Replace baker with whom?

    C.J. Carr or Justin Sayin.

  66. Steven007 Says:

Lakeland, as you should well know, having the number one overall pick means the team sucks. They get got an opportunity with a talented quarterback and then they have to build the team around him. If they do then they will no longer suck. Facts are Cleveland improved vastly after Baker landed there. Was he the Messiah? Nope. Most of them aren’t. You keep talking like the number one pick is a messiah. Come on man. You’re better than that.

  67. Obvious Says:

It’s perfectly legitimate to admit that Baker is not a franchise qb. I’m not sure what ppl are watching to think that he is. Maybe because in our history we’ve only signed QBs that have won sbs. We’ve never drafted and developed one.

But he’s also not a bad qb and it’s as bad to dismiss his accomplishments.

If you push a good roster with good coaching he can win a SB IMO.

But you don’t sell out your future for that type of talent. You sign him to a reasonable deal and hope to build the other parts around. And also leave the opportunity to upgrade thru the draft if you find the right guy.

  68. Buc1987 Says:

    And still no answer…

  69. Kit Says:

As a Browns fan, seeing you trolls trying to trash Baker and gas up the Browns is hilarious. Feel free to trade for Watson. I’ll bet some of you clowns would

  70. Todd Says:

    Deshaun Watson

    * Career earnings: approximately $234,808,041
    * Career games played: 73
    * Calculation:
    * $234,808,041 ÷ 73
    * = $3,216,549 per game played

    Baker Mayfield

    * Career earnings: approximately $131,760,454
    * Career games played: 123
    * Calculation:
    * $131,760,454 ÷ 123
    * = $1,071,223 per game played

    Wild Context

    * Watson has earned roughly 3x more money per game played than Baker.
    * Baker has played 50 more games despite earning about $103 million less overall.
    * Baker’s resurgence with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has made his contract look like one of the better QB value deals in the league compared to Cleveland’s massive fully guaranteed commitment to Watson with the Cleveland Browns.

  71. First Last Says:

Y’all will be crying when Baker signs somewhere else and we are back to football purgatory. Bryce Young is going to get 40-50m a year for taking the panthers to one playoff game so Baker looks like a steal in my opinion.

  72. Stpetematt Says:

Baker is absolutely a franchise qb. The only difference between Baker’s 2024 season and Darnold’s 2025 season is Darnold had the defense to back him up. Football is a team sport and Baker is phenomenal at it. Keep building a great football team and the sky is the limit. Grow impatient and let the perfect be the enemy of the very good and we head back into the lost decade again.

  73. ChiBuc Says:

    Baker is great, but….

Do Baker apologists ever hear the many many excuses as to why he has never actualize his greatness? No defense (but, but, but he had a good def in Cleveland), his OL was injured, he was injured, too many offensive coordinators (he got them fired in Cleveland and again here last yr), no receivers, receivers injured, bad HC, cheap ownership, blah, blah, blah. Poor Lil angry man has a chip on his shoulder, why is everyone always picking on him. This is a strategy ppl like to use to elevate mediocrity. Just look at our failure in chief.

  74. budlikedthebucarros Says:

bakers good guys need to chill hes no brady who is he beat mahomes in one of the best college games ever he took the brown dogs one of the worst teams ever to the afc championship game hes fun to watch
the jameis comment funny as f interceptions’ on 1st pass how many times talking about entertainment

  75. Mobucs Says:

My dear ChiBuc, like the rest of your tribe, you lead an army of straw men into battle. Baker needs no excuses. The facts, or at least the numbers, are there. In less than four years each, he has come to rank within the top five passers all-time. He’s had two down years and one year in the wilderness. Franchise quarterback? Again, among the top five, maybe three of two franchises. What more need be said? That in a couple years he will probably have all the passing records for the Bucs, if he’s not setting new ones for a third franchise?

  76. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“The facts, or at least the numbers, are there. In less than four years each, he has come to rank within the top five passers all-time. He’s had two down years and one year in the wilderness.”

    Crack kills

  77. ChiBuc Says:

    What more need be said?

How about win/loss record? Prime time record? 4th quarter win rate? How is he in clutch moments? Does he take over or crap the bed? I like the guy, but he’s a 2nd tier.

But do tell Chief Immadumass about my tribe? I do know your tribe like to cherry pick stats and ignore realities. Like cost of living increases and win percentages

  78. Well well well Says:

Mike Bucs you are right. I think he is a 14 year old that doesn’t have a clue as to how to impress adults.

  79. Well well well Says:

Baker will make all these morons eat their words. As long as we can protect him and keep him healthy he will play at an MVP level like last year before he was hurt as Lavonte David described.

  80. MelvinJunior Says:

Saskbucs – Nothing you have said, even makes any sense.

Stpetematt Says: “Even the Browns own fans were smart enough to be urging them not to do what they did.”

No. That is not true. Every Browns Fan (except for maybe a few of these very weird “adult” Baker followers, and little fan bois), were ALL celebrating and dancing in the streets after the Watson Signing. The Division was LOADED with Burrow, Lamar, & always playoffs bound Steelers Team. Watson was playing at a Top-5 QB-level, before the sh!t hit the fan. The Browns only tried to get better was all. They felt-like they couldn’t compete in that division for the next 10-years with BAKER, so they made a move!!!! It’s just as simple as that. A move that literally EVERYONE PRAISED, until they found out that it was ALL ? FULLY Guaranteed. But, the Browns Fans were ECSTATIC. And, there are PLENTY of reasons for why Baker is in the position that he is currently in now, & for why Cleveland kicked him to the curb. He is SELFISH and VERY IMMATURE. He just couldn’t STAND that OBJ was getting all the attention, and taking it away from HIM. He has “short man’s” disease. He’s not focused on the right things, and he’s not a talented, or big and strong enough ATHLETE not to be. He’s focused on all the WRONG things. And, his game suffers because of it. HE is not in the position to not dedicate ? of his entire focus on EVERY single detail of his game and about LEADING the team to WIN. That’s IT. He still has not learned. He is what HE IS and he always will be. He will most definitely have his moments, and show some flashes… But, it will NEVER be sustainable, when it comes down to the nut cuttin’ time. And, this is why he is a 31 year-old STARTER, playing on a 1-year “prove-it” deal AGAIN.

  81. MelvinJunior Says:

And, NO. Next year’s draft is too loaded. Just waaaayyy too many ELITE prospects all across the board. Don’t DRAFT a QB, unless it’s with one of the Top-2 Picks, AND you feel that they are “generational/can’t miss” talents. Continue to BUILD the ROSTER FIRST, with ALL of our ‘picks’ we gain before the deadline… With the ‘RIGHT’ HC & GM. Sign a solid BRIDGE for CHEAP (there will be a couple). THEN, find the right time, and pick your spot to make your move at DRAFTING your next ‘franchise’ QB, whether that is in 2028 or 2029. Spend wisely in free agency, with young players on the right TIMELINE. And, who knows with the ‘right’ Offensive Play-Caller HC, your “Bridge-QB” could be tearing it up!!!! But, draft your young QB of the future on his ‘rookie’ deal, AFTER the roster is rebuilt, and it is time to PAY THEM. Make Your Run. It’ll be a FUNNNN ride. Just as long as they can put their selves in the position to hire the ‘right’ HC & GM. We’ll be ROLLIN’ instead of another “Lost Decade.” You don’t want to waste the advantages of having your QB being on his ‘rookie’ deal, with a BAD ROSTER and NO SHOT. Plus, you put him in an IMPOSSIBLE spot, and end up ruining him.

Stafford the MVP just got a $60 mil extension for an extra year. Didn’t someone say that Baker was going to the Rams after the Bucs? Lol…don’t ever compare Baker to MVPs…they’re not remotely close

Baker couldn’t cut it in Cleveland
They should have gotten rid of him
Teams don’t dump quality QBs, they’re too hard to find
The NFL is simple, you play good, you get paid
You play poorly, you get replaced

And that’s exactly what Cleveland did
    ======================================
You have no idea what you are talking about, Apart from the fact that the Browns have been horribly run for 30 years. Baker played the entire 2021 season with a torn labrum in his non throwing shoulder. His reward was to be kicked to the curb in favor of predator Deshaun Watson. How has that worked out for the Browns? How has it worked out for the Bucs? Here is an idea, when you pretend to say something with great authority, know the facts.

  84. Well well well Says:

Baker is getting ready to get a $50 million a year deal because the people that actually know talent is willing to do what they have to do to keep him. They know he’s worth it. $50 million per year. The years will be at least 3 years. Let’s just see.

  85. Attaboy Says:

Lakeland says: “teams dont dump quality qb” As Gipper says Cleveland does. They also hire pervs in Cleveland. If the refs would have made the right call that has been proven wrong by everyone that knows, Baker would have taken Cleveland to the superbowl instead of KC in 2021. Targetgate is what they called it. The worst no call in history. Helmet to helmet it was but they refused to call it. Mahomes was chosen to win that game, so he did but Baker did beat him and all that know, agree. Baker beat KC but the refs stole the winning TD. From 1-41 to a trip to the superbowl in 3 short years. No other qb has ever turned a team around that fast. And Lakeland calls that a bad thing. You people are the most ignorant people in existence. I guess the year Baker had a good OC he was ranked in the top 5 isn’t quality is it Mudpuddle.

Former. Josh Allen was 12 seconds from going to a Superbowl and was one game away 2 years ago. Lamar Jackson has won more big games than Baker Mayfield infact he’s put his team on his back a lot while both of them playing with less talent around them on offense. Baker has choked in every big game the bucs has ever played with him the past 3 years and he’s choked with one of the best receiving core in the NFL. You can’t compare Baker Mayfield to those guys lol ?? .
