Mike Evans Foundation Stops Local Fundraising Events

March 25th, 2026

Joe’s been asked for an opinion multiple times about whether Mike Evans will continue hosting events in the Tampa Bay area to raise money for his foundation.

An answer landed in Joe’s inbox today from the Mike Evans Family Foundation. That answer is, No.

The message went out to what seems like a Foundation e-mail list. (Joe is a past donor, so Joe periodically receives Foundation correspondence).

Moving forward, we are no longer planning to host fundraising events and this summer in Galveston, we will host our last Free Youth Football Camp. From this point on, Mike and Ashli will dedicate foundation resources primarily to the foundation’s Annual Scholarship Program, which has awarded over $800,000 in college scholarships to students around the country since 2017.

This shift means funding previously used for programs like our youth football camps and holiday events will now go directly toward helping more students attend the college of their dreams. The Mike Evans Family Foundation will continue to be supported through major annual gifts from Mike and Ashli and through the funds raised from past events and dedicated supporters throughout the years. No matter how you’ve supported our mission, thank you for being part of this community.

Evans is making big changes in his life this year, like bolting the Bucs for the 49ers. And among them is ending in-person fundraising in Tampa and beyond.

  1. Bryan Says:

Maybe he can help clean up all the sh#t on the streets of San Francisco with that CTE induced decision he made he aint gonna win anything watch

  2. Ufc Says:

Looking forward to him limping off the field. Pull that hamstring mike

  3. DS Says:

Getting weird from Mike tbh when I watched lavonte’s retirement speech I thought to myself Mike is never going to get that moment

  4. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    I get it.

  5. DBS Says:

Totally moving on from Tampa. His choice. More power to him.

  6. SteveK Says:

I miss you already, Mike! Good luck. I’ll always cheer for you.

  7. Ballwin Bucs Fan Says:

    @Ufc not classy at all

  8. StormyInFl Says:

Thanks, Todd. More fallout from 3rd and 28.

  9. OrlandoBucsFan Says:

    WTF ?

  10. PanicTime×TooLegit2Quit Says:

Gotta wonder how many in the last few years stepped up donations when they felt that foundation would always benefit the greater Bay area?

  11. ElioT Says:

He’s done enough for this area – it’s time for other richer players to step up and take over. Winfield, Wirfs, Goedeke, etc.

We all know why Mike didn’t want to come back and it that is the lame duck head coach and terrible defense.

    Apathy

  12. Obvious Says:

It’s not uncommon that when the person’s name on the foundation doesn’t have much of a local presence, for the events to slow or even stop.

If he comes back and lives in the community after he retires it may pick back up.

But even if it doesn’t he did a lot while he was here.

  13. LessisMore Says:

Assume it’s pretty standard for players to slow down or redistribute some charity activities when moving to a new team (Joe (s) probably know better than I).
And fwiw, have some respect @ucf and @Bryan – Mike represented the Bucs and this community with class for 12 years – let the guy play football where he wants to play. Geeze.

  14. Toddler Bowles Says:

Why all the hate for Mike? He is moving to another community and likely choosing to support his new local community. Seems logical. He paid his dues in Tampa and then some.

Cheers to Mike Evans and Best wishes for a big comeback season!

  15. Simeon4HOF Says:

That’s a heck of a pic for this article lol

  16. SlyPirate Says:

    Major setback, if true.

    1. Baker is Winston 2.0
    2. Baker is injury prone
    3. Baker has never proven himself a winner
    4. The team needs so much talent to be QB-heavy

Say hello to the next decade of depression.

  17. Rod Stewart Says:

I appreciate Mike and everything he’s done for our team and community but I will say he’s pushing himself down the list of my favorite bucs players, not that he cares but still. Even as the best offensive player in bucs history he will never be held in the same regards as Brooks, Sapp and Barber.

  18. JimBobBuc Says:

Makes sense for Mike and Ashli to do this, but I’m happy they will continue the scholarship.

I hope all of us can focus on football here instead of those posting about unrelated topics.

  19. Pewter Power Says:

What a bunch of horrible useless human beings Bucs fans can be 😂 Mike Evans Family Foundation and what they do probably has never affected a lot of your lives in the slightest which is why it’s so easy to throw hate at a guy who’s foundation is still doing work. It’s not about his foundation which is why people in Tampa want to see him hurt. The Bucs collapsed during the season and the fans are next

  20. MelvinJunior Says:

Bryan Says: “Maybe he can help clean up all the sh#t on the streets of San Francisco with that CTE induced decision he made he ain’t gonna win anything watch”

So now you want him to suck so bad, that he doesn’t make the HOF someday. Okay, gotcha! You root for a guy, and think HE’s the greatest thing EVER for 13-YEARS, but now you hope he fails. When, HE did absolutely nothing to YOU. Hmmmm… Now, that’s some really weird sh!t! Especially, from an “adult.”

  21. Marine Buc Says:

    Big surprise!!!

    HAHAHAHAHA!

Who really cares at this point.

Thank goodness the Bucs are finally dumping their dead weight before the plane crash…

  22. 80sBucsfan Says:

Let’s not attack Mike. He’s done so much good for this community. More than his fair share. Thank you Mike! Y’all need to chill out.

    -David

  23. 3.28.Evans Says:

Hating on Mike for doing the only sensible thing for his career is despicable. Wishing for him to be injured or have CTE is the lowest form of scum. Turn your ire at the real problems that drove Mike and the other starters away from the Bucs. Although such types wouldn’t have the mental acuity of a fern, so never mind.

To spell it out – It’s really one very big problem but because of inaction and poor decisions, it’s front office and ownership as well.

  24. MelvinJunior Says:

@ LessisMore – Exactly. I’d say he’s probably just a little bit busy right now, wouldn’t ya say, having to move his family literally, across the entire country! Finding a new home, being introduced to everyone under the sun, public events, everyone and their grandmother asking/begging for interviews, meeting new teammates, learning a brand new playbook, and literally, on and ON. So, please. Just fricking MORONS. Total LOSERS. They take it “PERSONALLY.” That’s how insecure their egos are.

  25. Jmarkbuc Says:

10-1 Bryan has never set foot in SF.

Even McAfee liked SF. Go figure.

  26. MelvinJunior Says:

@ Ufc Says: “Looking forward to him limping off the field. Pull that hamstring mike.”

YOU are hoping/wishing for a man (a fricking ‘professional’ ATHLETE) to be INJURED. It says a lot more about YOU yourself! Actually, everything you need to know about your maturity-level. I mean, you are THAT fragile!? Come on. How embarrassing for you.

  27. Drock Says:

He is one of the best bucs to ever wear the uniform and a great human as well. Let him do what he wants with his time and money and then fit him for the gold jacket in Tampa Bay.

  28. Kenton Smith Says:

MelvinJunior. Exactly. He’s busy as he’s been in years and doesn’t have time to be doing his charitable work here. Perfectly fine. Can’t stress enough how busy he must be. Can’t stress enough how busy he’d better be. And I ain’t whistling Dixie.

  29. Oxycondomns Says:

the nerve of him to to focus more on college scholarships.

  30. Truth be Told Says:

I always thought he was a head case-coming out after running more than 30 yards and his volatility when frustrated. Hope he enjoys that homeless infested rat run city with danger signs of that practice facility affecting player’s health. I will not be Cheering for him and I hope it doesn’t work out. Buh Bye

  31. Ash Says:

Isn’t this a regular occurrence with most players when they move to another team? some of you are broken really don’t matter to Mike either way. Hope nothing but the best for Mike hope he keeps stacking those stats for his eventual hall of fame induction he is and always will be a good human.

  32. Bee Says:

If yall are mad at Mike for this then just start your own fundraiser and pick up where he left off. But we all know you won’t do that, you’ll just trash a man that made the best decision for his life and family that has nothing to do with you and doesn’t hurt you. Some of yall are real life losers.

  33. Muscle Hampster Says:

All that CA state income tax money is charity enough

  34. Simeon4HOF Says:

    Styles Round 1

  35. Lakeland Says:

I never understood why he stayed in Tampa as long as he did
He received a lot of hate, when he took a knee
I was on this site defending his rights to free speech
99.5% of the commenters here, and other boards were hating on him

  36. Rod Munch Says:

    Thanks Baker.

    More great work.

Got two HOF players off the team in one offseason.

Only Gruden has done that before with Sapp and Lynch.

  37. Saskbucs Says:

The hate for Mike and hoping he fails or gets injured is disgusting. Grow up you guys.

If you are mad at anyone for Mike going to SF and taking his charitable causes with him, be mad at the Glazers and Licht.

Mike wants to win, we all want the Bucs to win and Licht threw that in the trash when Bowles was retained.

  38. Anyhony Says:

If Mike won’t come back over poor coaching, it says more about Mike than it does about coaches.

  39. Saskbucs Says:

    Pipe it Rod.

Baker has been here 3 years and they had more success with him than any QB not named Brady.

How does that factor into your smart comment?

  40. Saskbucs Says:

Anyhony… yeah, it says he wants to win and not inevitably have his 6th OC in 6 years starting 2027.

  41. Simeon4HOF Says:

God bless Mike and his family. Thankful for the time his Charity has been here. He’s a Cali resident now so

  42. JD Says:

I agree with Bee. He might be one of the most unselfish player we have ever had. He might be doing this because he cares about the guys in the WR room. I enjoyed him being a Buc and will follow him just like I did Sapp and Lynch.

  43. Anyhony Says:

@Saskbucs: Yeah, took his ball and went home……….quitter.

  44. Stpetematt Says:

I’m proud of him for taking a knee and San Francisco is also a beautiful place. That’s why so many millionaires/billionaires live there. People are being executed by “law enforcement” on the streets even now so it looks like they were very prescient taking knees. Plus they utterly failed us in stopping felons from taking over our government.
Now back to football- Mike is a good guy and should play where he wants. The Bucs will be an excellent football team this year. The defense needs an injection of talent and they will get that in this draft. Our offense should be great again if the O-line is fully healthy and rounds back into form. I expect it will. There are plenty of reasons for optimism, so I ultimately disagree with over half the posters here. Bucs will be fine and better than last year by far if they avoid the major injury bug.

  45. HopetheBucswin Says:

He is not a Buc anymore. Let’s move on till he gets in the hall. Until then he is not a Buc. He is the opponent. He quit us. He is not the guy we thought he was”not a Buc for life”. It’s a Bucs life

  46. Lakeland Says:

I think we go 10-7 this season

We win the NFC South once again.
And we advance in the playoffs, is our ceiling

I’m fully confident of the team this season

  47. Stpetematt Says:

Me too, Lakeland, though much depends on health of starters. I hope everyone is working out hard this off-season to avoid injuries!

  48. Simeon4HOF Says:

He can keep his IG workout vids to Cali love today tho
