No option for it “Doesn’t change at all” because that’s what I would have picked. Joe is bullying people off the fence. –Joe

  2. Lakeland Says:

As great as Lavonte was, he don’t have young legs anymore

The Bucs have a opportunity to draft an excellent 21-22 year old stud
Or maybe 2 of them, if the draft fall right

  3. Lakeland Says:

    So l vote it’s a positive

I also think Mike Evans leaving was a positive

  4. buc4evr Says:

I would feel a little better if the Bucs could get another decent FA ILB. No confidence in SVD or in Bowles ability to adjust the defense. Not really sure of the impact of losing LVD at this point.

  5. ModHairKen Says:

Of course it’s a negative. He’s been a leader for years. Although he was not perhaps as sharp last year, at least he cared.

I just hope he wishes to stay in Tampa post-retirement. He’s a great man, and this community needs him.

Fair. For the future its a positive. With Mike and Lavonte gone its going to be Bakers chance to make it his team or he’ll probably be out the door.

  7. Bucfan593 Says:

The only positive would be is without David out there Todd Bowels might need to simplify his overly complicated defense and everyone can play faster.

  8. Scott Says:

Had he stayed with Anzalone it would have been the best duo weve had that I can remember.

  9. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I voted not sure, but I also think he might return later this season if needed.

  10. Saskbucs Says:

Why do the polls close so fast? I often miss them.

It’s probably not a bad thing on the field, even though I think he could have had a bit better year after that knee surgery and at 5 million would have loved to have him taking some snaps.

Overall, I doubt it’s a net positive. 2 franchise legends out the door leaves a pretty big hole in that locker room, one way or the other. Not sure how that’s quantified but some teammates gotta feel down entering that room early next season.

  11. HC Grover Says:

Another runner. Escaping the Bowzo disaster.

  12. Coconut Doughnut Says:

Maan watching the press conference I was really locked in, to hear him share so much was super rare.

  13. WillieG Says:

Hey Joe, how about this for a poll:

    When will LVD return?
A couple weeks after the draft
The last couple of weeks of training camp
When the Bucs need help and have a winning record
    Never

I think there’s there is a good chance he returns. Retirement is easy in the offseason, but once football stuff starts, it’s a lot harder.

  14. Get-Rid-of-Licht Says:

the impact of the LVD retirement : a referendum on the 2026 season – a harbinger of doom – the final nail in the coffin will be if Sterling Shepard moves on – not because of his play on the field but as a statement that hope has abandoned the Bucs

  15. Pewter Power Says:

This is a good night for Bucs football. There will be a new voice in the locker room this year.

  16. Tye Says:

It’s moot because the DC is a JOKE!

  17. Get-Rid-of-Licht Says:

LVD – Evans – Hall – Dean – Izien – White – Fred Flintstone Licht may believe that the Bucs will be fine without them – ok – but I am betting that he outdoes the absolutely moronic stupidity of the Haslams / Deshaun Watson disaster by throwing a 50M+ extension at Mayfield this offseason –
I like Mayfield and his moxie but I have a feeling that he and Godwin will be (severely) injured by midseason – brain-dead not-ROH-worthy Foster-Brooks-emulating Tom-Brady-hand-puppet GM Fred Flintstone Licht will make at least one more head-scratching colossal error before training camp – just watch

  18. RagingBrisket Says:

Why are these the only options? Maybe it will not matter at all while Jason Lichtweight is the guy picking the groceries.
David was a Dominik draft pick and all Lichtloafer has done is put scrubs and busts around him for the last 11 years.
Best wishes Lavonte! You deserved better in the form of better coaches and players from the GM the last decade than the atta boys and silhouette totems. You are one of the best Bucs in the history of the franchise and my favorite defensive player since you were drafted. Thanks for the memories.
