Bucs Fans Fueled Lavonte David’s Drive To Succeed

March 24th, 2026

Motivated Lavonte David.

Sad day at One Buc Palace today as Lavonte David officially waved goodbye to the NFL.

David thanked a lot of folks. Teammates past and present. Teammates in attendance or not. Coaches, front office suits, the Glazer family and, of course, Bucs fans. He gave “The Krewe” a special shoutout and vowed he will forever identify as a Buccaneer. And then, David gave a doff of the cap to those who some believe (not Joe) are rotten fans.

If you happened to have worn a paper bag over your head at a Bucs game during The Lost Decade, David honored you today. David remembers those days and remembered fans wearing those bags, shamed that they followed the Bucs when they had the worst home record in the NFC.

David said the paper-bag-clad fans motivated him to be his best and fueled his drive to turn the franchise around.

So Joe wants to type again, let no one tell you how you should support your team. Even if you showed up to protest the formerly sad state of the Bucs, you helped motivate one of the greatest linebackers to have ever played to turn around your team. Your Bucs.

Job well done!

  2. Lt. Dan Says:

IMMENSE respect for Mr. David. In his honor my mandatory watch tonight will be “Warriors of Liberty City.” Highly recommend it.

  3. LVMYBUCS Says:

Good for him a man has to know his limitations wink wink #13.

  4. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

It was as time. Thanks for all memories LVD

  5. Lakeland Says:

I still think that 4 year stretch when Mason Foster was his MIKE
Lavonte David took the NFL by storm, the best I’ve ever seen
His first 4 seasons with Mase even outperformed Derrick Brooks
I know he and Mase was buddies, roommates on the road
So, they probably watch film, studied and prepared together

  6. Oxycondomns Says:

need to make a trade for crosby more than ever now, a lot of heart just walked out the door.

  7. Bowles Wasn’t Held Accountable Says:

Thanks Lavonte! A great Buc, might be the most underrated.

  8. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

A light that came to us in the darkest times as Bucs fans.

“Yea, we may have gone 3-13, but did you see the year 2 David had!?”

    Type of thing.

  9. Jarrett Says:

    Yo Joe

What are we doing about this secondary and cornerback position

We got the opposite of shut down corners we got “receiver always open ” cornerbacks that can’t tackle or cover really well

Don’t make me bring up how Benjamin Morrison was targeted @ Panthers

  10. Saskbucs Says:

As others said, he was a bright light in a dark time for the Bucs.

Lavonte David, Mike Evans and Gerald McCoy provided hope when there weren’t many reasons to think you were tuning in to watch a W.

All the best to him and his family going forward. Sad day for Bucs fans. Might have to throw on the Championship Season BluRay and revel in the joy that Lavonte and Mike shared with all of us. Go Bucs

  11. Football 1 Says:

Yes during the dark days David along with McCoy and Barber were still exciting to watch. They were the only reason you turned the game on. You knew they would play awful and lose. However those 3 in spite of all the awful football around them were playing their rear end off.
    Yes Hats of to David!!!!

  12. BuccaDAWG Says:

Lavonte David is the TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS!!!! I’M tired of hearing about that other guy who took off to the west coast, I don’t blame him one bit , after the way the Bowles walking warriors finished 3rd & 28 may just be the begining. The saints are improving i hear, the fact that after Bowles mentioned hiring a DC we didn’t & won’t so we will stay with the same old same old. The team probably did get better thru FA signings but not younger . Hope they at least try to get Crosby but doubt out Rock Star GM will say, oh after he signs somewhere else he’ll say we kicked the tires. So with Edge rushers in coverage, blitzing our safety & playing the corners 15 yards off the receivers. Let’s see what surprises are in the draft. A 2nd rd kicker nah, not this season. Our Offense better be able to put up numbers, & hopefully we do get stronger in the middle of the field & maybe we actually will begin to tackle people with this new nasty attitude , at least hope so. Anyway as always GO BUCCANEERS!!!!! KEEPTHE FAITH. & please at least check the Raiders out , maybe if we had a Defensive play caller who knows

Something is so wrong with the franchise. Was hoping last year they would have used LVD’s assistance, training his replacement for this season. Just makes no sense. LVD is a legend in my book to the Bucs.
