Tom Moore Retired
January 8th, 2026Iconic offensive coach Tom Moore said he wants to coach until he dies.
Thankfully, he’s still alive at 87 years old, but he did quit coaching.
A report from Moore biographer Rick Stroud today made the move public. It seems Moore’s wife’s illness has him wanting to be at home full-time.
In November, Bucs head coach Todd Bowles said Moore missed three weeks to be at home and his absence was hurtful.
” … He brings so much knowledge to all the coaches and this organization with all the things he tells us and tries to [instill] in us. He’s such a valuable piece, we can’t do too much without him,” Bowles said of Moore.
Unfortunately, the Bucs kept losing.
Moore, a mentor of Bucco Bruce Arians, arrived in Tampa with the Arians regime as a senior consultant.

Thank you for your all you did for the organization. I envy his work ethic especially with his age. Enjoy retirement.

Tom Moore heard Bowles was staying and said “I’m outraged here.” I don’t want this hack of a coach to tarnish my legacy.

January 8th, 2026 at 12:37 pm
Joe during the 3 weeks Moore took off was that when Todd told the captain’s of the team to fix their problems?
January 8th, 2026 at 12:40 pm
Yep. Bwelos stayed, so Tom said “I’m outta here.”

Escape from the Yuccaneers.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:44 pm
I want the HC gone as much as anyone, but this has nothing to do with that. His wife is ill and he missed a bunch of weeks this year because of it.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:45 pm
Here’s hoping Coach Moore and his wife the best of health and many blessings in their walk together. 62 years is a long time, as a married couple and coaching. I’d say Coach Moore has won in life.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:49 pm
Damn, the best coach just left the team. Enjoy retirement!
January 8th, 2026 at 12:52 pm
He saw the writing on the wall and wanted to get the f outta there before Bowles sinks the ship completely next season.

January 8th, 2026 at 1:08 pm
Come on people with all the negativity, I know many are ticked off with Bowles staying but isn’t the moment. Let’s see Moore off to a very good retirement. My dad just died at 87 and it’s good to see Moore made it to that age and still was able to get up and coach pro football. Kudos to Moore, happy retirement

^^^^^
2027. I get you … you’re probably not wrong.
I don’t see more than 3 wins on the schedule. Obviously the Bucs don’t have any pride, so might as well drop those games and go for #1.
You might be able to trade down and get a mountain of picks after Arch shows out. The grandson of the 2nd best Saints QB won’t want to be a Buc and we won’t him.

I hope he has an enjoyable retirement and his wife’s health improves. They deserve the best life has to offer now. He has done so much for the Bucs and his wife supported it all. ❤️❤️

Coach Tom Moore retiring really hits—feels like he’s been on NFL sidelines forever. From watching him as a kid with the Steelers to now, that’s a respectable, well-earned career—nothing but respect for a true football lifer.

Nothing but my best wishes for Coach Moore. His leaving, with all that knowledge, is gonna hurt.
January 8th, 2026 at 1:27 pm
“Coach Moore, we notice you don’t give any practice reps to Peyton’s backup’
(Tom) “If #18 goes down we’re f**led. And we don’t practice f**ked”
January 8th, 2026 at 1:31 pm
Bowles gets rid of another!!!!
January 8th, 2026 at 1:38 pm
Tom got tired of telling Todd the same things over and over.
January 8th, 2026 at 1:39 pm
” … He brings so much knowledge to all the coaches and this organization with all the things he tells us and tries to [instill] in us. He’s such a valuable piece, we can’t do too much without him,” Bowles said of Moore.
^^^^^
Just carefully read those words.
“TRIES to instill”
“we can’t do too much without him”
What more do you need to know ?
January 8th, 2026 at 1:46 pm
Thanks Coach Moore for everything Tampa and you’re many contributions to the game. I hope you get to enjoy the cigar bar more often now!
