Todd Bowles Said Calijah Kancey Is “In Play” To Play Against Stinking Panthers

January 1st, 2026

Might play Saturday.

Since it is a do-and-hope game, or else, the Bucs might pull its last big gun out of the shotgun case.

Per Joe’s good friend Rock Riley, Bucs coach Todd Bowles said today that star defensive tackle Calijah Kancey is “in play” to play Saturday in a lose-and-die game against the Stinking Panthers — 4:30 p.m. at The Licht House.

The Bucs have to hope they can win Saturday then back door their way into the playoffs as the result of a slimy Saints win over the Dixie Chicks on Sunday.

Just the thought of having to pull for the slimy Saints makes Joe’s hangover even worse.

Bowles said if Kancey is active — and he won’t be unless he can play — he would be on a pitch count.

So it seems if the Bucs go down, they will go down fighting with almost a full roster.

Why waste him for a meaningless game. Let him rest up for the new coach next year.

    such a damn shame this isn’t a win and you’re in game…

being that it’s a win and pray these other divisional losers win is just so out of control

shall we draft tatum tuioti 🙂

    yep i’m talking draft…!

  4. SB~LV 🏈 Says:

Yeah…. But he has not played in and at game speed in FOREVER!
Sure he is fresh and talented but he’s in for a wake up call back in the trenches

  5. SB~LV 🏈 Says:

Watching the college games last night and right now….
Typical body language of the head coaches on the sidelines managing the game is in stark contrast to Thorazine Bowels …

    That may be a downgrade

  9. Geopewter Says:

It’s stupid playing him now . Better off next year hopefully he can stay healthy.

  10. Jeff Says:

    Betcha he reinsures that tit.

  11. Saskbucs Says:

Don’t understand this move. Keep him out. Best case, Bucs win and you can insert him a week later.

  12. Tired Says:

1 tackle and 0 sacks in 2 games. Seems to summarize Kancey’s career nicely. If our hopes are pinned to him taking the field, we’re cooked.

olave is out for the saints

    Desperate coaches do desperate things

  15. Bobby Says:

Kancey is a good player and could be a star if he could stay healthy for a full season. But I have little faith he is going to make a huge impact on Saturday’s game. He is not in game shape, how much practice time has he had since what week 2 back in September. Maybe he plays 10-20 snaps and os only 50% of the player he normally is due to not being in game shape. Hope I’m wrong. 😑 just seems too little too late. Oh Saturdays game is expected to be a rainy one too. Go Bucs!!

What a dam joke of a football team.

  17. Bojim Says:

Save him for the playoffs. If….

  18. Lefty R Says:

    Happy New Year Everyone!
I have nothing else to add!!! except

Step 1, Bucs have to beat the Panthers

  19. LakelandSteve Says:

It’s great that he might be ready but really how effective will he be and there also is a risk that he could re-injure his pec which could jeopardize him all of next year. I get it, I am sure most of the players and coaches know that jobs are on the line. If the Bucs come out and play lights out after sucking for over half the season to me seems more of an indictment on Bowles. You can’t get up for any other game that could have clinched the division but you can get up for the last game that doesn’t even guarantee the playoffs if you win. If that happens everyone will be wondering out loud why you couldn’t play like this in any other game that could have helped you clinch.

  20. Eckwood Says:

watching the effort of the hurricanes defense last night was everything the Bucs isn’t.

  21. AlstottNumber1 Says:

Mike McCarthy please. He knows what it takes to win.

Add a competent DC and we’re in business.

    LFG!!!

  22. oGBucsfan33510 Says:

Kancey is shaping up to me another draft bust, from the great Licht. Kancey hasn’t made it through one season without a major injury. Licht can’t draft defense players to all. He’s just as big as a problem as Bowles.

  23. ChiBuc Says:

Just in time to flash for your payday CK. Way to fight your way bay, inspir, and cheer your team on the sidelines. Imo, seeing this guy constantly rehabbing would bring me down as a player

  24. MadMax Says:

Wont matter…..you guys really think the AINTS, aint gonna mess it up for us? lol, aints will lay down, trust me!

  25. MadMax Says:

Watching this Oregon game, Im thinking Amauri Washington will be a great replacement….plus he can rest Big V at times.

  26. Nicholas Carlson Says:

    Who?

  27. jw94buc Says:

Baron Morton=Baker Mayfield lmao. Guess who we’re drafting next year lmao

  28. Tony Says:

They should consider moving Kancey to DE & see what he could do there instead.

  29. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

No need to rush Kancey back. Miami, Ohio State, Oregon and Texas Tech all have some great players on defense that could really help our Bucs.

  30. Fanofdabucs Says:

Bain Jr or Bailey edge rushers from Miami and Texas Tech. Both are monsters who rush get after the QB every snap and both can set the edge. Please onw of those 2 guys! That and a new DC and its a great start.

  31. MegaFailure Says:

injury prone fool won’t even last a quarter

  32. First Last Says:

Chris Olave is out with a blood clot. The stinking saints arent beating the stinking falcons

  33. SB~LV 🏈 Says:

Kancey is another one of Jason Licht’s “reach” and hope for the best at a position of need come draft day. I don’t remember the names before his pick but the whole NFL understood that the Bucs were DL hunting.
Which is why I want draft position more than a playoff spot

  34. mj Says:

wait till after the super bowl to change coaches

  35. FrontFour Says:

    If he’s healthy, play him

  36. Kidfloflo Says:

Is he a free agent? Did we just pick him up?

  37. LawrenceDawsey Says:

The way Atlanta played last game… it’s over for the Bucs

  38. Aceofaerospace Says:

Without Olave, the Saints chances of beating Atlanta are a lot closer to nil now.

  39. Lakeland Says:

I don’t understand these Head Coaches and General Managers

They know they have a ton of injuries, and need players
Yet, they refuse to make trades, or sign free agents
They say, they are content with what they have

Then they say something stupid like
“””””We don’t want to trade our future draft picks”””””
“”If you don’t win now- there will be no future for you”””””

    Wakeup

  40. Aceofaerospace Says:

Why? Toilet Bowels is risking re-aggravating an injury that could hamper is off season recovery and hamstring our new head coach, to try to win a pointless game. Carolina will be the only team on that field playing with intensity. Tampa had its chances over the last 8 weeks and didn’t give collective rats ass. Now they’re going to play, and bet on the Saints to ruin their draft position to help us? Dream on.
